The Beauty of Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa

We love SSR! We stayed there in Jan and it was beautiful! As owners there we love to try other resorts, but when we come back to SSR we breath a sigh of relief. It is so beautiful and relaxing .

SSR is the reason we bought DVC. We rented points from a friend after staying in only value resorts because renting at the time was actually cheaper than the values. DH and I agreed after that trip we could never go back and we loved the value resorts. We bought BLT and have stayed at almost all the resorts now but plan on definitely staying here again. Thanks for all the awesome pics and reminding me how much I loved it!!

I was staying off-site down the street and had the chance to run through SSR early in the morning three days last week. It was so pretty as the sun rose and so peaceful. I stay at BLT one night later in the week - great convenience and love the DVC lounge but SSR is just so pretty

Funny.......for years I said I didn't like SSR without ever staying there or even visiting there. I would just look over at it from Downtown Disney and say nope, not for me. Fast forward to 2014 and we purchased DVC resale. I bought into SSR because it was the cheapest for a buy-in but really wasn't ever planning on staying there unless we "had" to. We had already had a vacation planned and paid for when our points loaded about 3 weeks before going. We decided to add days onto our vacation and the only DVC we could book on that short of a notice was SSR. I just "knew" I wasn't going to like it but was excited about adding more days onto our vacation.

Well, guess who was wrong.....REALLY REALLY WRONG.... You got it, ME! I LOVED LOVED LOVED it there. That year we went two more times as we had purchased an annual pass with the DVC discount (so three trips on one annual pass yeah me) both times I booked at SSR. The second time we stayed for two weeks and our third visit we did a split stay at SSR and Beach Club. We are going back this Aug/Sept and are booking a two bedroom for the first time. We had in the past booked two studios.

I have a question for the experts here. First, we've always lucked out and stayed at the Springs in the past. If that is not an option this time, what would be your next choice that would be close to the Springs? Would you say Paddock? We did walk over the bridge from the Springs to the Paddock, which was a short walk and my two grandkids loved that pool as well. I'm just unsure where to request, which I know is only a request, if we can't get the Springs again.

My second question would be what is the big difference between a regular 2 bedroom and a 2 bedroom lock-off. Do you have a preference? It looks to me that the only way to get the second bedroom with two queen beds vs 1 queen and a pull out sofa bed is a regular 2 bdr vs a lock off. Is that correct? And online at the DVC site it says it sleeps 9. I can only figure that it sleeps 8, 2 in the king bed....4 between the two queen bed and 2 more on the pull out sofa bed in the main living area, am I missing something?

Thanks for letting me ramble. Add me to the list of SSR lovers. It was a very unexpected surprise.

Most 2BR now have a pull our chair that is a twin bed in the main living area.

Always happy to see others who love SSR like we do.

As far as location - it depends on what you are looking for. If you have grand kids and you want a pool with slide then your best choices are Springs or Paddock. You can not book a location at SSR but you can put the locations in as a request on your reservation. Note - starting Jan 1, 2017, The Springs and Congress Park locations become a booking category(Preferred) so if you want one of these you have to book them. Paddock is in the Standard category.

2-bedroom options at SSR are: 2-bedroom lock-off which is a 1-bedroom and studio connected so there is a queen and sofa sleeper in the 2nd bedroom. There are 2 entrance doors into these rooms and the 2nd bedroom will have the kitchenette; or 2-bedroom dedicated which has 2 queen beds in the 2nd bedroom. These rooms only have 1 entrance door and no kitchenette in the 2nd bedroom. This is a booking category so if you want a 2-bedroom dedicated you have to book it. These rooms can sleep 9 but there are only beds for 8 people. If you want 9 people in the room you would have to bring an air mattress and bedding for it.

Here's a link to another great thread with lots of information about SSR.

DVC will allow you to book 9 people, but there's only bedding for 8. There's a note on the web site that says, "9th guest can be accommodated, but please note that no additional bedding, linens or towels will be provided." So if 9 are in the room, you're either squeezing them into one of the beds, using an inflatable mattress, or they're sleeping in the play-and-go crib.

Thanks for sharing those lovely photos. I realize that some people view SSR as less desirable than other DVC resorts, but I had the single best vacation of my life there. I am looking forward to going back.

We love SSR it is our home resort . We find it very relaxing and the disney springs is just an added bonus . We can walk to the springs without worrying about parking .

Hi. We, too, own at SSR and our last visit between Christmas and New Years was in a THV, LOVED IT and the location.

For next month, we have a one bedroom standard booked. Where do I want to request? I know I could have booked preferred view but
needed to save points. I would like to walk/take boats to DTD where we will spend some evenings, we are playing golf on site and will visit three parks.
We also plan on pool days.

Two adults.

Thank you so much!

We have requested the GrandStand section for our next visit. Are there any pictures of a two bedroom. Do the rooms have balconies? I've been looking for pictures, but I can't find them.

There are some youtube videos if you search Saratoga Springs.

I've seen some really nice photos on here, but the OP's pictures aren't showing up. The URL is preventing me from viewing them so if anyone has any help they can provide for this it would be appreciated :)

We are staying at SSR in September. It is our first stay at this resort and I am super excited, so I am looking for any pictures I can find :D I was a little unsure about staying here at first, but as I continue to see pics of it I am becoming more and more excited. :yay:
