SO, 8 months we back,again : 14 days of gluttony & guilt: PLETHORA O' PICS 5/6/23-5/19/23

HOMECOMIN'

Since a bunch of new items on the menu popped up since last
we had to try them out.

HC menu.jpg

HC kitchen.jpg

HC fried pickles.jpg
YUP pickles and they're fried! Sure $16 is WAY overpriced but these delightful dilly dongers
dangled delicately while dancing into our mouths. Loved the batter, sauce and everything about it.
It held well to the dill flavor during frying. Would get ripped off again for these.

HC chicken paillard.jpg
Sure is an awesome new dish. Great light breading on the chicken.
Asparagus was perfect and loved the roasted spuds. Great lemon butter garlic sauce also.
Please keep this dish permanently, would get every time.

HC fried steak.jpg
It was decent, great breading also but SO salty. Steak was thin and tender. I liked the
gravy and usually do not. Biscuit sucked big time, they should ask Round Up BBQ how to make a
good one. Mac & Cheese always a star. Green beans meaty flavored and very good.
We would not get this again.

HC carrot cake.jpg
Yup you read that right $14 for a small hunk of cake. Plus we did not think it tasted like a carrot
cake. Still was good, but so not worth it. The carrot cake at Gideon's was twice as big $5 less and
WAY better. Humming bird cake here is the best dessert.
But we find all of them so overpriced compared to other better places at Springs.

HC receipt.jpg
Gotta pay to play...

GIDEON'S
Usually we don't much care for all the flavors of their cookies
but really like the cake slices. When they have a new monthly
flavor that sounds good for science we try it.

Gideon's PB Cold brew.jpg
Always must get and still perfect.
Gideon's cookie bite.jpg
Brought some back for our daughter & grandson,we tried one.
It was very good.
Gideon's macadamia white choc.jpg
got several of these to bring home and freeze, very good flavor of the month
should keep on the menu for good.
Gideon's macadamia cake.jpg
Gotta have matching flavors to the cookie. This was great but like the cookie version more.
Shocked. Got one for home, we stuck it in the freezer for a week and a half and departure day
pulled out eat it later at home. Still good.
Gideon's carrot cake.jpg
Amazing carrot cake, should be kept on the menu all the time.
Wish we got 2 sliced of this one instead. Wonderful buttercream
frosting. and the cake to frosting ratio has improved. It used to be
way to much frosting and not enough cake.

Gideon's receipt.jpg
one of the receipts, forgot the other. Oops.

FRIAR'S NOOK

This new beauty recently appeared at the Nook.
So of course we had to have it. The first time we stopped by
at 3:30 and they were CLOSED. WHAT? why on earth would they
close a food stand in MK so friggin early. People eat. Thats lost money
they got to stop this crap. So we came back and hit it up right at 11am
when they serve it. WOW it was wonderful .Warm and gooey.
Hope this sticks around a while it would be a must get.
Should have gotten some icecream to have with it...

Friers nook pie inside.jpg
Run and try this. Just make sure it's between 11am-3pm.
SUCH DUMB HOURS....

FLOWER & GARDEN FESTIVAL
BOOTHS:
FG Northern Bloom menu.jpg

FG Northern Bloom beef.jpg
Very good, usually the beef from Canada booths are a miss
this one was great. Perfect combo of flavors and veggies.
FG France menu.jpg

F & G France beignet.jpg

F & G France beignet inside.jpg
It looked better than it was. Not horrid but not worthy.
F&G bread pudding.jpg
We loved bread puddings and this was just okay. Looked more savory
but compared to all the Disney bread puddings this was not high up.
FG Farmers feast menu .jpg

FG farmers feast straw cake.jpg
AWESOME. Shocked how great it was. Shame we only got it once.
I punched myself in the face for not getting it more. I needed to be disciplined.

Thanks for sharing.
Which one was better the polite pig or woodys round up bbq?
Both different. I never got ribs or brisket at Pig. Roundup has many things Pig doesn't, don't chose we do both. Treat yourself. If I was forced to chose Round up.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp & Grits, too and we ordered it more than once. Pre-Covid, it was offered at the Florida Fresh booth. Assuming it was from the same or similar recipe to the 2019 Flower & Garden version, it had just the right amount heat without burying the flavour of the shrimp. I seem to recall that it was a relatively generous portion. We added the watermelon and cucumber slushy to make a very nice Epcot lunch.

Ooh, and the cinnamon roll bites do look goooood!

REGAL EAGLE

Kinda noshing around world showcase and stopped for a kids meal
But the wife wanted to try the brownie badly.
EP RE kidsmeal.jpg
Burger sucked. Mac & cheese pretty good and same for the onion rings.
Still a good snack option to split when eating around.

EP RE smores.jpg
brownie was much better than expected. Fudgy and moist. we thought it was gonna be basic
and it was beyond basic.

EARL OF SANDWICH
(we got this twice)
EoS sandwiches.jpg
1st meal:
Wife LOVES the holiday sandwich and always gets it. I like it but
prefer BEEF so I always will get the 1762. Always great at Earl's
We usually get it once but most trips several times. We were
able to grab it a second time
2nd Meal:
EoS holiday.jpg
Wife's of course.

EoS turkey club.jpg
I never had this and I loved it. Would get again.

EoS Cobb salad.jpg
I usually grab a salad and this hits the spot nicely.

When staying at Saratoga we always grab it to take back and eat in peace in our room.
Such a convenience walking to Springs for the best food options overall.

DOCKING BAY 7

Our first intention was not to go to Docking Bay 7,but just to grab a Ronto wrap from Ronto Roasters.
But of course in Disney fashion they have to close food stands down incredibly early which I still cannot figure out what logic does this make.

So we had to go over to docking Bay 7 no biggie,to grab a Ronto wrap which is fine because it's a much better place to eat. It's indoors and very well air conditioned. Theming is stupendous.
This is our last time grabbing a Ronto wrap. It absolutely does not taste anywhere near as good as it used to when it first came out. Pita was stale, sausage did not taste anything like it used to before. It lacked so much flavor. The chips dull of flavor and stale as well.
At least we cooled down for a bit in a awesomely themed room.
December's trip we will come back here again but to eat some of the entrees since it's been a while.

Docking Bay 7 rontp.jpg
Thanks for failing us Ronto......

CASEY'S CORNER

Casey's hotdog.jpg
We usually enjoy hot dogs at Casey's but this time will be the last.
Nothing worthwhile about this whatsoever anymore.
For the best hot dog at Magic Kingdom do yourself a favor and get a
hand dipped corn dog at Sleepy Hollow, that's always fantastic.

So long Casey, thanks for letting us down you bum...

BLAZE

Blaze meat eater.jpg
Blaze is another must get every trip. We grabbed it earlier in the day
to reheat later in the room. We had a menagerie of other things to eat
with this. It reheats easy since we're in 1 bedroom and have a full oven.
I don't care what people think, Blaze is a decent very inexpensive pizza choice
for Disney World and if it was anywhere close to my home I would get it
routinely still and I live in Philly where there is TONS of awesome pizza places.
No locations convenient to where I live.
So for now we will just get it every time we're here.

BOATHOUSE
( 2 visits)

Boathouse is a must every single trip. Usually we hit it twice since we're here for 2 weeks.
We were able to make it for a second visit on our last full day.
The food is always great, very fresh. Service is impeccable.
The dining room is wonderful, scenery is enjoyable especially since we usually
get to sit by the window looking at the water.
LETS EAT....

1st visit:

BH rolls.jpg
Always a pillowy delight

BH wedge salad.jpg
Our favorite salad in Disney. See you can eat healthy.....

BH coconut shrimp.jpg
Such amazing little roaches of the sea. Must get.

BH club.jpg
Wife wanted to try it the club, and she liked it.
I did have a bite, it was good but it's just a sandwich. Not a burger....

BH burger.jpg
THIS IS A BURGER
one of my favorite burgers on property, easily in my top 2.
I did add grilled jalapenos and it was a smart idea. I am genius.
Best fries anywhere as well and they give a bunch. No skimping here.

BH bread pudding.jpg
One of the best bread puddings on property easily top 2.
I think boathouse has the best desserts anywhere on property.
We usually get the chocolate layer cake and the macadamia nut ice cream pie
but that's going to have to wait till December since we had to try the new bread pudding.
But here it is from LAST TRIP for you all to gaze at:

DS-BH 1-ice cream.jpg
ice cream is excellent and comes with the...

DS-BH 1-choc cake 2.jpg
OUTSTANDING chocolate cake. $24
Boathouse-macadamia turtle pie.jpg
HOLY HECK this is stupid good. HUGE too.

BH receipt.jpg
Always worth the price

BOATHOUSE
2nd visit
BH duck raz.jpg
All the times here my wife never got this so she was gonna rectify that.
She loved it. I had the most baby sip and icky. Had to try though.
Important thing is she enjoyed it.

BH firecracker shrimp.jpg
We get this a lot and since we had the coconut a few day earlier we needed more
shrimp. So dang delicious. There is a good bit in there too.

BH burger fries.jpg
Wife was hankering for a burger and she loved it.
She did give me her pickle since I never can have enough. Great lady.

BH burger & red potatoes.jpg
Yup another burger. I never tire of them. I did sub the fries for the
red potatoes which I never had and loved them. Not shown was a side of
fresh garlic butter I requested and doused the spuds in it. SO GOOD.
December I will do this again!

BH burger inside.jpg
Cooked perfectly

BH receipt 2.jpg
Yup still worth it.

We skipped dessert since we had stuff back at the room although we contemplated
the bread pudding again. Looking back we should have. I SUCK.....
