She's Going Coast 2 Coast......That Girl is CRAZY!......BOSTON MARATHON UPDATE 4/27

After the race Anne-Marie and I walked back to the hotel. I let her lead the way as I was still in my post race daze. I really appreciated the AM let me go at my own sloooooow pace. I was limping a bit still. Along the way we met up with some people who were at the race to just cheer on the runners. They had run the 10K the day before. One thing I love about runners is runners tend to be the nicest people on earth. No matter the skill level, they all band together and root for each other. I think this is because running is an individual sport. Unless you are an elite level runner, you really aren't competing against anyone else. Most are trying to do better than their last race. I always say I never run a race alone.

We walked along and AM told me about her morning. Due to the jet lag she was up early. I wanna say around 5-530. She got up took a shower and headed down to the desk. She was laughing because she was happy and perky and the desk attendants were barely alive. She asked how to get to Disneyland and said they were confused because it was 6 am and Disneyland wasn't open yet. She simply said "Yeah I know. So how do I get there?" Once back at the hotel I hopped in the shower and we packed up the car and headed back over to the Disneyland hotel. Given the pain in my leg I sprung for it and paid for Valet. I believe you get 3 hours parking free if you are eating at Goofy's Kitchen, but the parking lot seemed SOOOO far away.

We walked through the hotel and over to Goofy's kitchen. I was VERY thankful I had made an ADR as the place was PACKED! I have never seen it so busy! It is usually walk up. Several people did try and get a walk up seating, but were told they were not taking walk ups. I think the people may have been local because they looked shocked. We waited about 20 mins and were then called up to see the man:

Goofy's Kitchen has become sort of a tradition for me. I absolutely love it there.

2011

2012

I know I had one from 2013, but I can't find it :confused3.

We were seated and given permission to go to the Buffet. You didn't have to tell me twice! My muscles were begging for some protein.....and BACON!!!!

I got a bacon and mushroom omelet with a side of bacon

It was A-MAZE-ING!

as well as a side of whatever this is. Bread pudding maybe?

We were given our official Goofy's Kitchen buttons

And finally got to see some old friends.

What is very different here is the Characters tend to come and go without an escort. We were right by the door where they would leave. We enjoyed the face characters leaving because we would get a great interaction with them on their way out.

Once we were done with breakfast.....don't worry, I had about 2 plates of bacon....we headed over to California adventure. Sadly I do not have any photos of our adventure over there! I do know we rode a few rides and went to Tower of Terror. Once we got off the tower I looked at AM and told her I was done. I couldn't go on any further. My leg was in too much pain. I was really regretting not getting the hotel room for another night. But I was dead and needed a break. So I did what any rational person would do. I hobbled to the parking lot and took a nap in my sisters car.

Up Next.......Night time at California Adventure!

Hello everyone! Happy Memorial Day! To any readers and their family who have a friend or family member in the service, thank you for your service!

This weekend was jam packed for me. I usually work on Sunday's, but this Sunday I had a race so I worked on Saturday instead. I woke up at 6 to get to weight watchers, then went to work, then did my errands and picked up my dog. Then I did some laundry and cleaned and made dinner. Headed to bed at about 9 pm.

Sunday I woke up at 4 am and headed to Boston by 5. I ran the Run to Remember once again. This time though I did the 5 mile race verses the half marathon. I am happy to report I got my 5 miler back under an hour! I did 59:42 with an 11:52 pace! I am slowly getting my timing back!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your memorial day!

[QUOTE="Woth2982"

Hi! Welcome! Thank you! Yes there is more coming! I am soooooo slow right now. I think I am going to get another update in today![/QUOTE]

Lol! I shouldn't be pushy since all I do is read read read these reports. I don't have to do the work, do I? It's so FUN to read about what others see and experience.... helps me wait for my next trip. So don't feel stressed just because some are living vicariously through your TR! I appreciate those of you with the skills to put up a thread. Thank you!! :)

Katie, what a fun update. I've added Goofy's Kitchen to my bucket list for DL. Is Baloo always there? Or do the characters change?

I'm glad you got to do a few things before you couldn't go on any more with your leg.

Congrats on your latest run!

I'll see you when I get back.

Goofy's kitchen is awesome! I have only been there once, but I think it is definitely on my list for November. I will have to make a reservation for sure since it will be race weekend. I bet that is what caused the reason for it to be so packed when you were there.

I am sorry your leg was hurting. Napping in the car is certainly not ideal, but I suppose one has to do what they have to do, right?!

Congrats on your race! So fun to have a good race and be getting your timing back. :thumbsup2

Wow, it has been a while since i have been over here! Life has definitely gotten away from me this month.

Memorial Day weekend I ran a 5 mile race and came in under an hour! I am slowly getting my timing back. Sadly 4 days later I had a little accident playing softball for a small set back. I was wearing new shoes and forgot my old ones. While trying to not get them dirty I fell running to first base. Not only did I get my shoes dirty, I got my clothes dirty, banged up my right knee pretty good and landed on my shoulder. That put me out of commission for a week.

Then I went on a cruise with my friends on the 5th. It left out of NYC and went to Bermuda. I got a small head cold right before we left. When I got back that small head cold manifested into a sinus infection. So again, I was out of commission. However prior to being sick sick, I went to visit my friend Lori who just had her first baby! I am officially in love with her little girl. She WILL be a Disney Princess even if mommy isn't a huge Disney fan (I know, it is crazy, thankfully Auntie Katie is around).

On the 14th I had my friend Melissa's Bachelorette party. It was kinda a bust. I still was not feeling great and the sinus infection had moved into my chest.

The next week was even crazier. The 19th I had a softball game (managed to NOT hurt myself, but I still had a horrible cough). The 20th I went to see the Backstreet Boys. The 21st was Melissas Wedding. The 22nd was my 10K!

Now for the 10K I had not run at ALL since Memorial day weekend. I was good and ready for a personal worst. I figured I just needed to finish and finish on my feet. I still had a cough so I knew it wasn't going to be a great run. Once we got started my legs felt great. My lungs not so much. I pushed through and once again, only walked the water stops! I managed to do a 1:18 with a 12:13 pace! I was thinking I would come in around 13:40 given my breathing situation! So I was very happy with this run.

I took off the 23rd to "recover" because on the 24th I had the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge! Yes another race! 2 races in 3 days! This one did not go as well as Sundays. It was about 86 degrees outside and humid. It was a 3.5 mile race with almost the same exact course as the 10K, just half the distance. I started out pretty good with an 11:13 pace, however at mile 2.5 I got physically sick. The heat had just got the better of me. Night running is also different so i think I ate too close to the run which did not help. I finished in 43:41 with a 12:04 pace, so still not back considering A) the heat, B) the fact I still had a cough, and C) I had to stop to walk a half mile or so, after getting sick. I went to the medical tent when I was done and was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. Thankfully not heat stroke. My mom is a nurse so she was "on call" all night in case I needed help. I went home, ate some ice cream and drank some Gatorade and pumped my AC, so by morning all that was left was a slight headache.

I have another softball game tonight then back to my training on Saturday (indoors for a while). I will hopefully get a Disney update up this weekend! Thank you all for reading along still!

Katie, what a fun update. I've added Goofy's Kitchen to my bucket list for DL. Is Baloo always there? Or do the characters change?

I think he is. I feel like I have seen him at least two times. It definitely has some characters I was not used to seeing

I'm glad you got to do a few things before you couldn't go on any more with your leg.

me too. I am also very thankful that Anne-Marie is OK with going off on her own so I can rest or sleep

Congrats on your latest run!

Thank you! Feels so good to finally be getting back into it.

I'll see you when I get back.

Yes definitely make the reservation. I feel like it was busy because it was right after the race. It is a great place for recovery food!

I am sorry your leg was hurting. Napping in the car is certainly not ideal, but I suppose one has to do what they have to do, right?!

Yeah the leg was def my Achilles heal for the day. Thankfully it felt better the next day. No not ideal, but desperate times call for desperate measures! Next time I will keep the hotel for another night even if Im not staying over.

Congrats on your race! So fun to have a good race and be getting your timing back. :thumbsup2

Thank you! It definitely felt good! It is amazing how quickly you lose your timing after an injury and how long it takes to get it back. Now that it is hot out, I am having a harder time adjusting. I can't ever win lol.

Katie, you just can't catch a break with your health, can you? I'm sorry about the falling playing softball, and the cold that turned into a sinus infection.

Thankful that precious baby has Auntie Katie in her life.

I hope you recover quickly and are back to training hard again real soon.

Oh no! You are such a trooper.. because you have such the luck! Hopefully you are feeling better and have are injury free soon!

I really can't! My boss said if he didn't actually witness some of the stuff I do he would never believe it! Thankfully it is never anything really bad just more of a nuisance stuff.

Oh no! You are such a trooper.. because you have such the luck! Hopefully you are feeling better and have are injury free soon!

Thanks! I am feeling much better. Gonna attempt a redemption run on Thursday night if I get out of work early enough. There is a local 10K.

I thought I'd pop over and join the fun!

All caught up, you poor thing, you have seriously been a bit cursed with injuries and illness, that is SOOO frustrating!

All things considered, you did amazingly well! That's some serious will power to just power though and keep going. I am glad you were ok but take it easy in the heat and no more tripping at softball!

Love the picture of you and Ann and oh that bacon omelette looks yummy!

Welcome! I really do seem to have the bad pre-rac luck! I keep telling myself it is all building up for when I run the marathon because Marathon training isn't easy and 26.2 miles is no piece of cake. All the adversity is training for that.......at least that is what I keep telling myself lol.

I love that photo too! We took that right as we got onto our busses at the end of the night. It was fun to have someone to mozy around the park with! Ann is great company!

Thanks again. It was not an easy run. I definitely did not approach it the right way that is for sure. Lesson learned for next time......and the next time was HOT!!!

Happy 4th of July followers!

This is my favorite holiday! So naturally some dude named Arthur had to come up the coast and ruin it for me. It is currently down pouring, but it helped me get a lot done. I hit the gym, my dad and I installed my downstairs AC,

(if you are looking for a window AC, this is 12K BTU and just about $300, cools my whole 600 sq ft downstairs).

he fixed my kitchen light (the dimmer switch broke), and then I baked some cupcakes while my laundry was washing. My dryer broke a couple weeks ago so I had all my sheets piling up. I got the replacement a week ago and just have not had the time to do more than two loads. Sheets take about 3 on top of my normal two......btw how does one person accumulate two loads of laundry in a week? One of the great mysteries of life I guess.

Thought I would add some photographic running fun in for you to compare and contrast my last three runs.

So here is how I felt after my 10K in June.

Here is how I looked after my 3.5 miler where I got sick two days later

No I do not have a sun burn. That is a true sign of heat exhaustion. It was a long night that is for sure.

I Did a 5K yesterday and let me tell you it was HOT! There was also a 10K this day and I was debating between the two. Given it was 92 degrees and humid hot! Real feel was probably around 100-102, I decided it was safer to do the 5K. I knew based on the 3.5 miler that I needed to take it easier and be in touch with my senses. The first mile felt great but there was no shade at all. So after mile 1 I started doing a walk/jog combo. This race is at Gillette Stadium where the Patriots play. We had to run UP the ramps to the 300 level, which is the top of the stadium. The run to the top is a quarter mile! I decided to run every other ramp. When I got to the top it was flat so I lengthened my runs and shortened my walks. When we got to the other side I ran down 3 ramps, walked 1, repeated to the bottom. I ran about half mile then walked again. It then snaked out of the stadium and hit mile 3. At mile 3 I just sucked it up and ran the rest. At that point it is only a 10th of a mile and is nothing. I finished in 41:24. This is not a good time for me. But for the weather it was a great time for me. I finished, and I wasn't sick or injured so I consider it a success!

Yes I look like a hot mess here, but trust me I felt great!

My friend and I showing off our new bling.

And we got some of these at Toby Keith's after to celebrate

It is called an American Girl and it tastes JUST like a popsicle! Sooooo good!

They cancelled the fireworks after the race due to the weather. In hind sight they could have had them. It didn't rain until well after midnight here. The down pours here started around 1. So my favorite holiday has been a washout, but tomorrow is supposed to be nice so I will go to a pool party, then the fireworks at night with my friends.

Up Next......FINALLY an update!

Good luck!!! I hope it goes well. You will have to let us know :goodvibes

When I last left you I was passed out in my sisters car in the parking lot. I got there around 2 and slept for about 3 hours. When I woke up I felt a lot better. My mom had been texting me the score of the Patriots game. Unfortunately they lost.

I made my way back to the tram and texted AM that I was on my way back. We met up and I am sure we grabbed something to eat. I unfortunately have no photos of this. We did a few rides and watched the Pixar Parade!

I love the toy soldiers

After the parade we headed out. I had had a very long day and was still moving slowly. AM was a trooper for not complaining and putting up with me and my pain. We drove back up to LA to my sisters apartment and unloaded the car with our stuff. We hung out for a bit then had to head out again. I had to pick my sister up at LAX at midnight! She was coming back from a wedding in the Dominican Republic. Once we picked her up and got back to her apartment we crashed. We had one more day at Disney left and we wanted to be able to have a fun last day!

I am sorry that you had your holiday ruined. We often have a pretty rainy 4th. Not this year though... so I apologize. Maybe you got our rain. :sad2:

I can't believe you slept that long in a car! You must have needed it!!!

LOVE the new bling. And that drink looks amazing at Toby Keith's.

I'm glad you got a little snooze and then were able to do a few things. I love those green men when we see them by Toy Story Mania.

You had to pick your sister up at midnight? Oh my....what a long day/evening for you. I hope you got a good night's rest for your last day.

I am sorry that you had your holiday ruined. We often have a pretty rainy 4th. Not this year though... so I apologize. Maybe you got our rain. :sad2:

Yeah it definitely stunk. Of course Monday was an amazingly gorgeous day. Should have worked the 4th and stayed home the 7th!

Sounds like a productive day!

It really was. Most of the productivity was all before 1 pm too!

I think you still look pretty good here!

Thanks! I laid on the ground after that and a jogger came over and asked how long a 10K was. I groaned 6.2 miles as if it was the furtherest race I have ever run. After I said it I was like wow I sound pathetic after having completed 5 half marathons lol.

Here..not so much. However... I have to say that I turn that red whenever I run.

I do turn red as well. This was about 45 minutes AFTER I finished! It was not a fun race. Another one of my coworkers in the challenge had to drop out so I was happy to finish at all.

That is awesome! In that heat everyone slows. Plus ramps? Good grief. You rocked that race!!!

Thanks! Despite the heat I really enjoyed this race......the ramps not so much. In fact I considered the 10K because the 10K does not go up the ramps. Figured that wasn't a great reason to run an additional 3.1 miles on a 92* day.

You look great!

They look yummy!

Oh my goodness they are amazing! It is called an American Girl. Felt appropriate for the weekend event.

I can't believe you slept that long in a car! You must have needed it!!!
I can't either. Laying on the IT band in the car helped a bit too. It hurt like crazy, but it kinda massaged it out a bit.

Looks like it is a cute parade

I hope you were able to get well rested for your next day!

LOVE the new bling. And that drink looks amazing at Toby Keith's.

Thanks! I told everyone at work I do it for the medal when they ask why I run lol. The drinks are great! I know there is a Tobys in Chicago (in fact that is where my Facebook checked me in), if you ever get there it is an American Girl. SOOOO GOOD! I had 3 that night!

I'm glad you got a little snooze and then were able to do a few things. I love those green men when we see them by Toy Story Mania.

Yes the snooze helped a lot. AM still jokes around about how after I finished the race I said "Ill be right back" when i walked away she said to herself, she isn't coming back for a while lol. I guess I looked delirious and confused :confused3

You had to pick your sister up at midnight? Oh my....what a long day/evening for you. I hope you got a good night's rest for your last day.

Yeah I did. I tend to make really bad decisions that at one point seemed like a good idea. It was a very long day, but I pretty much passed out right away. Helped me get on west coast time too. Which would come in handy a little later.
