BG 100 was called at 615. I was so excited that I forgot to check my return time. Sorry about that. I was into the ride bt 715.

For those concerned with conflicts, GET CM at MK cancelled my Trails End adr with no fee. She said she would totally pick RotR over Trails End. Lol.

And I forgot EMH because I didn't think I would be there. Ugh. Tomorrow I fly home. Thanks again to this great community. What a story Disney is telling when it works!

Got bg 62 at 7am. Just got off the ride. Amazing! There was one major bit that was missing but they replaced it with something else which wasn’t too bad. Wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t known about it going in.

We ended up being evacuated 2x today. Agree the "B mode" was still very cool experience.
Glad so many BGs were called by days end!

While I understand the frustrations people have with the current system, and I'm nervous for my upcoming trip, I just cannot imagine wanting to stand in a line for hours instead. I could maybe see choosing it to be a FP+ ride, but honestly the current system reminds me a lot of Cars when I first rode it at DCA. It was a FP, but you had to get there in the morning early enough to pull a physical FP, and you could hold it independent of other FPs. But I get that making it like that wouldn't help the crowding of other rides. Idk, I think Disney has done the best they can so far to give people chances to ride it, avoid people wasting all day in line, prevent a dangerous rush to a queue, and attempting to discourage people getting to the parks super early (unless they want to RP other rides).

Yeah, racers was a nightmare with down time also that first year.

Right?

While I’m nervous I guess about how my day will shake out when it comes (will the family get their butts to the park on time, will we have phone issues, will the ride see lots of downtime, etc.), I’m even more concerned that now that I’m less than 60 days from the trip Disney is going to add FP+ and eliminate the VQ. That worries me way more than any hiccups with BG and whatnot.

Without the buffer of a long onsite trip, I’ll roll the dice with boarding groups over any other method Disney could use, unless that method is assigning BG to their onsite guests or some other unlikely to happen thing that benefits me greatly lol.

Totally! I'm trying 2 out of my 4 mornings and I'm mostly worried about technically difficulties- with our phones and the ride itself. I'm trying to train my mom to use MDE that morning, but we shall see! As for getting there on time, that's where my mother will shine. She'll be up at 5am and probably ready to leave the Boardwalk well before my proclaimed 6am leaving time.

No. Close the app completely (“kill it”) and then re-open at 7am or a few min beforehand. At least this was the most successful for our family. My husband opened the app right at 7am based on advice from a friendly CM and easily selected an early BG, meanwhile I toggled back and forth to the home screen and tried to pull down on the ROTR screen to refresh and my button never became selectable 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I toggled successfully in early January but last week it never worked for me. If I had been solo, I would've been screwed.

Our day is here! So far:
-5:23 left POP in Uber (scheduled it last night)
-5:30 arrived at HS
-5:33 through very short bag check line
-5:35 waiting in line at tapstiles (we’re all the way right- 3 lines from the end- definitely shorter than the other lines)
Pic from our vantage point- facing the tapstiles.
- around 6:25 tapstiles opened. Now we’re held in line at Galaxy’s Edge.

So far, so good...we’re at the front of the line for GE and this is 100% because of this board. Thank you everyone for the incredibly helpful advice!!! Our board rocks :rockband:

-7:00 got BG 32!! (Issue- only I showed up on the app- DH and DD not there)
-got right on MF
-off MF @7:23
-found GET and they were able to add DH and DD. Whew!

For those who think the ride should be shut down entirely until it's more reliable--keep in mind that actual experience and effects of large numbers of people, day after day, hour after hour, doing RotR can't be duplicated by testing or theoreticals. I'm hardly an expert in this (I don't work at WDW and am not a theme park specialist!) but it seems to me that anything like this ride, which has multiple elements, has to be "tested" in actual use before all the problems can even come to the fore. If you haven't been on RotR, you don't realize how many various, different elements are involved and I'm not going to go into that here on a no-spoilers thread.

What I'm trying to say is that RotR involves several complex systems that need to be put to actual use day after day in order for WDW to figure out how to keep everything running as smoothly as possible as much of the time as possible while the ride is in actual use.

So, be a little patient. And here's another vote for the current BG system. I think it's working out as well or better than any other system they could've implemented.
