We have GE appliances, all purchased new when our house was built 6 years ago. The builder chose the brand and we picked the appliances.
Our fridge is a french door style with freezer on the bottom. The fridge and freezer itself is fine, but the ice maker constantly jams and leaks through the ice dispenser, causing it to drip. We have to empty the ice bucket frequently because of this. I also find the design of the water dispenser/tray and the freezer drawer (bottom) make both difficult to clean - lots of nooks and crannies. Its also stainless steel and scratches easy, and every attempt I make to clean it leaves it super streaky. I do like the moveable shelves though, and we never run out of space in the fridge which is nice. The freezer drawer is also nice.
Our dishwasher is also a stainless steel GE, relatively basic model. It does the job and has options like heated dry and sani-wash, but the dishes come out with stuff stuck on them maybe 40% of them time. I feel like I'm constantly throwing things back in the dishwasher. I'm also cleaning the inside crack near the door constantly because dirt and grime accumulates there and with the inside being white, it stains if it sits there. My parents purchased a new Whirlpool dishwasher, and the inside is stainless steel which is nice, and the silverware rack is on the door, rather than inside which I love. Leaves a lot more room for dishes.
We also have a GE range, and had the oven malfunction at 3.5 years old, just out of warranty. A GE repairman fixed it for us for around $300, and scratched the stainless steel oven door in the process. They did send us a new oven door for the trouble. The GE microwave works well.
All these things together would make us replace our appliances with another brand in the future. Overall, I'd say GE has been fair but not a brand I'm going to be loyal to. My parents swear by Whirlpool and are in the process of buying all new for a house they are having built, and that's what they went with after many years of Whirlpool products.
