Let’s play what’s wrong with me..physically- small update, pg.3

:scared: not sure it's just an Alberta thing but here they prefer to be called First Nations.

I first heard that term two years ago while traveling in Seattle, Vancouver and Alaska. I still have never heard anyone in MI use that term nor have I heard it on any newscast. I guess the West Coast IS progressive, we will catch up eventually.

When we were in Alaska 4 years ago the indigenous peoples referred to themselves as Indians and Eskimos. At first I was a little taken aback and maybe that was just what they thought would appeal to tourists? I'm happy to use whatever terms the person themselves instructs me to use though. I know in Montana and Idaho (directly south of us across the boarder) the term "Indian Casino" is prominent so I presume the native populations refer to themselves as Indians there as well.

Is it near your rib cage? Is your spleen enlarged? You wouldn't necessarily feel it enlarged. It can hang all the way down to your waste depending on the size.
Are you going to the bathroom? It's not a GI blockage, right?

See, I thought maybe a hernia but I always thought those were really painful. This doesn’t hurt at all. Like, not a little bit. I don’t even remember how I discovered it.

As to where it is, it’s on the left side of my abdomen, almost running straight up and down.

I kept my ovaries so that I didn’t go into premature menopause. It could be a cyst but this thing is huge. I guess I’m mostly confused because of the lack of symptoms. I’m hoping my dr schedules me for a ct scan or an mri. He’s a good dr so I know he won’t tell me to just live with it.
I had a cyst during fertility meds the size of a grapefruit and I felt a ton of pressure down there. I think if it were your ovaries you would feel pain and bloating and the lump wouldn't be in your abdomen but more in your pelvis.

Whatever it is does seem to go up to the ribs, or start there depending on what ‘it’ is lol

No issues going to the bathroom. If I couldn’t feel it, I wouldn’t know it was there. I’m still not having pain or fever or anything that would hint that something was wrong.

You know what? I just read up on this and it fits 100%. The only thing I don’t know about is family history, but I don’t think there is.

It’s easy to self diagnose, and I’m careful not to, but this checks a lot of boxes. I’ll definitely ask my dr his thoughts on it. Thank you.
A quick MRI will diagnose it.
good luck!

Well, now is still May 8. If I do decide to go to the ER and they decide I need one, I’d get in then or the next day. It’s all based on urgency. I once had my neurologist to push me in the same day I saw him.
OMG. Whenever I read the interenet and get the "C" word in my mind I freak out and have ended up at the ER hysterical and insisting on getting checked out right then and there. IF I were you I wouldn't want to wait another few weeks. Just go and get it out of your mind and find the cause of this. Please let us know what happens. Praying

Don’t worry, I’m not freaking out. I know that the c word can be thrown out for every little cut and scrape lol

I’ll go tomorrow and get the whole process started.

I'll bet you $5 (CAD  ) the first diagnostic they use will be ultrasound. Easy and fairly immediately available. I am praying for you that's enough but then again I have a phobic dread of the MRI ( :scared: monster resides inside) machine. Please do keep us posted.

Search my name and and combination of mri and you will see my numerous posts on them. I am so claustrophobic that I have to be medicated for them. I get head/spine done yearly and the head cage is what gets me..that and the fact it’s about an hour long. I’d rather have an unmediated colonoscopy than any mri, any day, and I’ve never had a colonoscopy LOL

:thumbsup2 I have and it's colonoscopy all the way over a cranio-spinal MRI.

Please, please forgive me if this freaks you out but since you've been through it numerous times, have they ever told you how to get yourself out in case of emergency? That 40 minutes I spent in the head cage was the longest year of my life. I'm generally a pretty cool cucumber but I couldn't help but fixate on that one issue. If I ever have another one I'll totally make them explain it to me until I'm confident.

I ask about it every time, and they show me every single time. It’s the same people so they know I know but they still show me. It’s actually very easy to get out of it..you just have to push up on it. It would be tough to do because it’s very tight quarters but you could, realistically, pop it loose and shimmy your way down and out of the machine.

My big fear used to be that there would be a power outage and I’d be stuck in it indefinitely. One, the hospital has many generators and two, use the above method.

Thanks. I certainly wish they'd have told me and since it was my first time I didn't realize to ask. Lord willing I'll never have another one.

They diagnosed mine with CT scan

lol. I have to get an mri every yearbecause I have a cyst on my pancreas. I just keep my eyes closed the whole time so I don't panic. It's annoying but I'd rather an MRI any day than a ct scan with all that radiation. No way unless absolutely necessary. I think they will ultrasound first. Makes most sense.

I've only ever had the one - does your kind require being locked into the head cage and loaded head-first into the tube? I could handle practically anything else (I think :upsidedow ).

I had a wrist one a few years ago and it was a piece of cake. I think the head cage is something you can’t know about until you do.

Ok, guys, so, I didn’t go this morning. My husband had a rough night and I was up with him til about 4. I’m too old to survive on two hours sleep anymore lol

I’ll try again, maybe tomorrow morning, and see how it goes.

I doubt another day will make a difference, as long as you're not in pain. You will get on it soon though, right? At this point I predict you'll be keeping your original May 8 appointment. ;)

And as for your night, we're all still here rootin' for you and waiting for an update on your other thread.
