Forced to pay a higher price from that I originally paid at FWL horseback ride.

Can you explain more about what happened and what rule was changed? I didn't think anyone at Disney could just go in and delete Fastpasses.
I am guessing they either had a throwaway room or a throwaway campsite.

Nope.

We had our onsite stay FPs booked,
plus 7 days of offsite FPs.

They emailed about deleting our next day's
FPs, which was our onsite checkout day,
SO that day's FP were part of an onsite stay!
The other 7 were for offsite.

I think there is something about APs and only having 7 days of FPs total at a time..seems like I remember something being mentioned on various threads about it. My memory isn't picking up the exact phrase though.

I think I found a reference here from the FastPass FAQ sticky thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/fastpass-frequently-asked-questions.3491680/

{ETA: corrected link}

- Annual Pass (AP) holders have similar benefits as onsite guests when staying at an onsite resort. The primary difference is that AP holders can book up to 7 days of FPs at all times, and more if the length of the onsite stay is greater.

- AP holders have similar benefits as offsite guests otherwise, except that they cannot have more than 7 days of FPs booked at any one time.

AP's can only do 7 days of fastpasses or length of onsite stay, not both.

@ the time that I booked our offsite FPs, the above was NOT the (new) rule.

It must have got changed AFTER I booked.

1) None of the emails mentioned a rule change.

2) they planned on deleting ALL the rest of our FP days/-ALL 8!,
NOT just few days to get it down to 7!

3) they were not going to delete one day of FPs each day--one @ a time.
They were gonna do ALL 8 days @ once by the next morning!

4) Guest Services knew absolutely nothing about WHY(the emails).

5) Tech (through GS)
did NOT say it had to do with a new rule for APs.
They merely said we had 9 days instead of 7!
Well the day before we had 10 days of FPs;
the day before that, we had 11 days of FPs.

And the year before, we had 15 days of FPs!

6) the emails said we had to buy MORE tickets to KEEP
the 8 remaining days!

8 -day PH passes were probably around $900 for us :(

AND they had just emailed us about renewing our APs.
IF we had renewed our APs,
they still would have deleted our 8 days of FPs!

No, they have had the 7 day limit on off site/local AP holders since FP+ started. Sadly, there is a catch 22 that AP holders are caught up in if they try to do off site stays. This is to prevent local AP holders from booking day after day of FP. Guest services should have known why you were limited to 7 days of FP. No excuse for them not to know. Same for IT. Not surprised that neither knew or that you managed to get them through the year before. It was a glitch that let you do it the year before

Even worse, those emails probably were empty threats. I realize it was a risk you didn't want to take (I probably wouldn't have either, hard to say) but I bet you $100 they would never deleted the FP. But lots of AP holders do just fine booking just 7 days at once in advance and then booking day by day from there. So it's possible.

When I had heard about it it wasn't in the context of one day it wasn't allowed and the next it wasn't but I don't have much background knowledge on that.

As far as purchasing more tickets...well yeah that makes sense here.

It's what you are using to get into the park that matters here:
~Use your AP then you need to follow AP rules
~Use tickets bought then you need to follow the normal ticket rules

Disney was only telling you that in order to maintain those extra FPs that you need to purchase tickets that would allow you to have those extra FPs. They weren't saying you can't have any more FPs period no ifs ands or buts but that you need to comply with their ticketing rules for the additional FPs. Non-compliance with those ticketing rules means additional FPs currently booked without tickets would be cancelled.

It's unfortunate that you didn't post here before buying those tickets. I feel that you could have gotten a calm and comprehensive explanation, and maybe could have avoided buying those tickets u less you really wanted them.

I assume you've been able to use them to renew your APs with? (If that's still allowed of course)

And I agree with Angi that it was a glitch before. Especially because all of this is still so new. There are people who only started visiting since FP+ but for those of us who started before we know that it's still new and they are still figuring out the systems and how to make the systems work with what they want to happen. Glitches when things are new are fairly normal.

Thanks @AngiTN !!!!

Oh, the 15 days the year before were all onsite.
This was our first, and probably last offsite stay.
Thanks again!

That might be why it could come as a shock. If it doesn't happen as a normal practice then people slip through the cracks and continue on like normal.

Ah, ok. Yeah, you can have FP for all the on site days you want. No limit on those. It's that pesky off site business that will get you.
Still, shameful for no one at Disney to know and to not explain it properly. It's yet another in the long list of basic rules that they can't seem to get past down to their 1st line CS reps

It isn't a new rule.

I don't want to keep beating a dead horse(pun intended I guess) and keep this thread alive, but now Disney has done the right thing and actually changed the prices on the website for the horseback trail ride. They have also added the $46 is till September 30th and $55 from October 1.

That's good, but I still wonder about this paid in full but it's only a deposit. I wonder if OP had an option on only paying $20 as a deposit or was she told full amount was expected.

From what I could tell they had been working on doing just that for a couple of days. It has little to do with doing the right thing and more to do with having someone take the time to get it done.

I'm glad they have finally updated the website. But I still can't wrap my head around who says "Jane, now go call all those people who booked and paid in full but still owe us $9!" Just how do you get there?
