FANTASMIC! Dining, Dessert, Fastpass Thread - Q&A Here

Does anyone know what the cost was for the dining package last year ?
I know prices can change, but just curious as to last years price.

Going in Dec and hoping we'll be able to book this. So excited to see that this will be back !

Has there been actual seating for Fantasmic with any of the Dining Packages ?

I did this about 10 years ago and it was a Dessert Party with seating.

No, it's just a roped off section. When we did it we sat on the ground, but no actual seats. I think the BB package might have included cushions to sit on though.

Anyone want to speculate on the dining packages being available for the first day? Do we have any precedence with any other show like this? Were the dining packages for the Electrical parade available for the first day?

We did the Blue Bayou dining in 2015. Was a reserved section, but seated on the ground. BB people got a cushion to sit on. It wasn't so bad because it was all seated, so you got a good view no matter where you sat in that section. We had to get there early for WOC though, even the dining package there only lets you into a certain area, if you want a front position there, you still have to get there early.

I want to see this with my oldest son so badly, but with ADD, he doesn't wait well. I'm hoping a package comes before the end of summer. I'd love to take him to see it before he goes back to school and I would happily pay the premium for a dining package. I'll be following this thread, too. Fingers crossed!

Unfortunately i have a feeling that the dining packages won't be available right away. The previous dining packages were at Blue Bayou and River Belle. With Blue Bayou having dining packages for MSEP through mid-August, i doubt they'll do a BB dining package for F! there until MSEP finishes. I am hoping for a River Belle package (we are going the week after it returns) but I'm not holding my breath.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO SAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!. We will be there in July. Well hopefully will get to see the show even without the dining.>:(:worried:

The current packages are just sitting on the ground. When I did it in 2014 there were separate sections for each dining experience but all were in the front around the Rivers of America; Blue Bayou was in the center, River Belle was on one side, Hungry Bear dessert party was on the other side. I can't remember where Aladdin's was, but they may have just been given a Fastpass.

10 yrs ago we also did the dessert party. It wasn't a widely publicized thing and very limited numbers (I would say about 30 people total). It was pretty great, with a dessert buffet table there and actual seats. I think they also had an option from one of the balconies above NO Square, but that was sold out when we booked (at Disney's 50th). Since then Disney has amped up the dining packages and dessert parties and made them cost more for less reward.

We used to do the dessert party every year- it was great. You did have to have one person line up early to pick seats on a chart (although none of the seats were bad). Then you came back about an hour after seat picking time, were escorted to your chairs and given food and drink. We did the dining package at Blue Bayou in 2015 since the dessert party was gone and it definitely was a step down from what we were used to. We got a fast pass and handed what I call a floating cushion (a piece of foam like you have in a boat on the lake) at dinner. We then had to drag the cushions around with us until Fantasmic time. There were separate entries for Blue Bayou and the other places (at least when we were there- not sure if it was always like that)- but at least the night we were there, they were funneling everyone from all dining entrances into the same seating area and were not separating the seating area into sections or keeping the packages separate at all. It was a mess trying to stay in the Blue Bayou line because all the regular FP people were standing around waiting for the other areas to open- and at least our night, they opened the other dining entrances first instead of opening them all at the same time and people were flooding in from there and running to get the best spots, so even though we were one of the first groups in the Blue Bayou line, a lot of the space was taken by people running in from the other entrances. We could not get near the front of the area by the time they let us in. I think we were three or four rows back. It was absolutely packed our night, we were crammed in like sardines. In fact, the people that came in close to show time were having trouble finding anywhere to sit at all. I felt sorry for the CMs because it was not their fault, but people were not happy and were voicing their displeasure- sometimes loudly- it was definitely oversold that night.

All that said--- if the dining packages come back before our trip, with it being the new Fantasmic we are Disney suckers that will totally book it anyway. Fingers crossed that there is some word soon!

I have a question for anyone who has booked these dining packages before. I assume you have to pay in advance just like the WOC dessert party correct? And if yes, why would they not refund you if it's cancelled. Has anyone experienced a cancellation before? This below is from the MSEP dining package. This concerns me. I mean if I am going to pay for a package I would assume I would get what I am paying or or at least get something in return like a special seating at the next show etc. but to get nothing is pretty ridiculous to me.

Cancellations
  • Main Street Electrical Parade can be cancelled without notice due to technical, weather or other issues.
  • No refunds or exchanges will be available, even if the show is cancelled.

The weather at Disneyland is easier to predict than Disneyworld and events are less prone to cancellation. If there will be a rainstorm or strong winds the weather apps will predict it by the night before so you will know if you need to cancel the dining package before the no-show fee kicks in.

I'm also hoping there will be a Fantasmic premiere party the day before. Or something (anything) for APs, although I'm not holding my breath on that one-they don't seem to care about giving APs any special events anymore).

The official policy on this is you are paying for the meal, which you will get regardless of weather or other cancellable issues. The FP and priority "seating" are just a bonus. Yes, that would suck to pay for it and not get your show. You can always keep an eye on the weather and cancel the day before.
