Caribbean Beach Resort ** NEWS & VIEWS **

Jennyfyar, I am guessing you used disney Travel. We have used them before and had to pay early. We now use CRO and the balance is due when we arrrive. We just received our confirmation and they have transferred our deposit and the balance is due upon arrival

Well, you've done all you can do. If your Brother & SIL don't want to listen, then they're the ones who are going to ruin their vacation. I just feel bad for the children!! Maybe they can stay with you while your brother & SIL are sleeping in the car in the parking lot. Maybe THAT will wake them up!!

Good luck in whatever they decide.

Thanks Jeanny...I've made no progress and I think it's time to quit bugging them. I really wouldn't care if it was just my brother and SIL but I have 2 nieces (10 and 1) that is my concern, especially the baby. I go to Disney every year so I think I have a little knowledge on the subject but I think they got upset when they found out we were staying at the Poly Concierge. Normally we stay at the All-stars or a moderate(and REALLY LOVE it) but this may be our last trip with my husband as a family(he has MS)and we were married at the Poly 2 years ago, so we wanted something special. (We also saved any "leftover" money for 5 years to really do this right.) I guess you can only do sooo much and then it's out of your hands.....

Thanks Again for the support,

Laura

I just called to change my reservations today. I was dead set against calling before I read this thread. I thought if I just wait, they may give me a better deal. Well, I decided to go ahead and call, b/c what did I have to lose? If they say no, then I would still be getting a call.
Well, the first person that I talked to put me right through to a CBR specialist. I just told her that I needed to speak to someone about changing my CBR reservation. I only had to wait about 5 minutes. Ireland was who I talked to, and she was very nice. I originally had used the CKO code for a king size room at CBR. My total per night was $109. She said that she could offer me other moderates for the same price, but that she had some other very good offers. She put me on hold and then came back and offered me the Polynesian for $7 extra per night. I was expecting to be paying $140 more for the seven nights, but she took into consideration that I was already paying for a king sized room and I would be getting double at the Poly. So, the total was $816 for seven nights vs. $769 at CBR. She did say "We are calling people according to when they have reservations, but since you called in, you got lucky!!" So, do not hesitate to call. They do not mind it of you do!!

sugarplumsmom:
I noticed your trip is during NJ Teachers break, you might want to mention this to your SIL. I know a lot of people who are still trying to get rooms. (Trying on a daily basis)

My personal experience with CBR for this time was, I called the specialist and was told only moderates were available during this time. No POLY, NO GF, All sold out...

We wound up switching our whole trip around for other reasons...but this is one time fram in November I would not assume I could get a room anywhere on property. We go every year during this time and with the exception of last year it has been pretty full at the on-site hotels.

Good Luck.

jlb,

We've been going hat week for the past 5 or 6 years as well, and i tried to be nice and tell her but......I'm only the sister in law....the way she sees it, (and I talked to her yesterday), they will have a room for her no matter what, they owe her, and she WILL get some compensation....I told her that all that was coming up available on the Disney website was the All-star and the campground and her reply was that they WILL compensate her the difference and then some......

What more can I do...I'll just refrain from helping her with my knowledge of the "ins and outs" of Disney and let her do it herself.....

Have a Magical Evening,

Laura

Well, we decided not to wait for WDW to call us. We ended up with an upgrade to the Poly. We have a package, so I don't have the exact per night figures, but the total additional cost for ten nights is $73 ($7.30 per night). We had a king bed with water view at the CBR and are getting two queens with garden view at the Poly. I guess that accounts for the smaller upgrade rate since the initial upgrade was $25 per night. I'm sure my wife's persistance didn't hurt, either.

We're happy. Good luck to the rest of you.

I just want to share my experience with the CBR team.
I tried to call earlier today and sat on the CBR line for an hour before someone picked up. When I told this guy what I wanted to do he transferred me back to the CBR line again where I waited a half hour before giving up.
Later, I tried again and hung up after half an hour.
The last time I tried(~9:30pm EST) I got through in about 10 minutes.
I was offered AKL STD for ~$110 and AKL SAV for ~$120. I decided that I would rather just go cheap and asked about ASMusic...it's booked. So, I ended up at POFQ for the same rate that I had at CBR.
My dates are Nov.7-11. I'm content with my change, but I wish I would've called sooner or at least made up my mind to go with ASM earlier. Last week, I was told that ASM was "wide open". I was afraid this might happen!

Just wanted to add my experience as well----

Just got off of the phone with the CBR team. I spoke with Ireland who was very pleasant and helpful. I told her I had called because I was concerned about not having received a call from the team yet, and I am scheduled to check in on Sept. 14th. She said that they had JUST started calling people today that are arriving on the 14th, and chances are I would have gotten my call tomorrow. So, those of you with later arrival dates, don't worry too much yet. Seems like they are calling people but they haven't gotten too far down the list yet. Anyway, I was offered any of the other 3 mods at the same price, AKL standard for $99+tax and either AKL Savannah or the Poly for $109+tax. Sounded like they still had plenty of availability and choices for Sept 14-18. ( I took the Savannah View room at AKL!) WOOHOO!!

Oh, and just as an FYI thing: I had tried calling twice before and had been on hold 80 minutes the first time (before my calling card ran out :( ) and 30 minutes the second time before I got disconnected somehow--neither time got anything other than the Lilo and Stitch soundtrack playing in my ear. Took advice from the boards tonight and called later in the evening (around 9:10 eastern) and got through in less than 10 minutes! Looks like evenings are a good time to call.

Good Luck everybody!

jim22046 - I'm confused - I thought by booking reservations by dialing 1-407-WDISNEY one was booking with the CRO. How does one go about booking with the CRO?

These boards are invaluable so I thought I would contribute. For what it is worth.
I called the Disney reservation line and asked for the Carribean Beach relocaiton team. Was put on hold maybe 20 min, tops.
I believe Thomasina helped me. She pulled up my reservations in October and then said that she could switch me to POR or CSR for no charge. Or she offered AKL. Poly was not offered but I did not want that anyway. My original ressie was for $99 a night at CBR. She offered AKL Standard for $110 or savannah for $120.
I have never stayed anywhere except CBR but am truely looking forward to AKL. I hear the pool is fantastic and with a couple of small kids we will be spending our time there a lot.

I have read hear that it is good idea to fax room requests 2-3 days prior to arrival. What is the fax number?
Thanks
Pat

I had posted a week or so ago about having difficulties getting CRO to send me my confimation letter when we made a change on our reservations. I made the changes on the 4th of this month and have never received the new confirmation. I called once on the 12th and was told it should be in the mail. I called back last Friday (16th) and the cm supposedly was going to send it out again, but as of today, still no letter! It looks like they sent out my original confirmation about 3 days after I made them, but I don't recall when I actually got them. I know it's only been a week since I called them last, but these changes were made nearly 3 weeks ago. How long should it take and does anyone have an idea as to how to make them send me the darned thing besides making long distance call after call? I suppose I worry too much, but I won't feel comfortable about all this till I have a piece of paper in my hands!

I changed my reservation to the Poly on August 14 and received my conformation on Monday. You could always have them fax it to you. Michelle

peachgirl - we are having the same problem. It has been over two weeks for us. Called on Tuesday and was told everything was fine and that they would put another one in the mail. I am trying not to worry about it, hoping the second one will arrive. This has happened to me before and everything was fine. I am going to give mine a full week and then call again. I would just keep calling them. I think I read previously that they will fax you a copy - can you try that route just to ease your mind?

:)

Well at least I know I'm not the only one having trouble! Actually this has been an ongoing problem. I received my 1st confirmation with no problems. However it had an error on it, they had my discount listed as a Florida resident discount, not AAA. I called them and fixed it but never received the new confirmation. This was back in February! I called twice and never did get it. Both times I called they showed it corrected, so I figured why mess with it anymore. After the CBR news, I decided to go with the AP rates and changed to WL and now am having the same problem. I'll give them until the mail runs today, but if I have to call again I think I'm going to let them know about all the problems I've had. I sometimes give Disney a whole lot more leeway than I would any other company, but enough is enough. I've had to make several calls over this and I had to call twice about the CP package due to a cm error. I also had to make 2 calls on the AP discount. Our vacation starts on 12/19 and the 1st cm told me I could only get the AP discount for the first nite and would have to make 2 separate reservations because the AP discount was only for stays THRU 12/19. I knew it wasn't right, but I couldn't convince him of it and he actually had the nerve to ask me "Are you unhappy with your current rate?, it's a very good discount"!:( I considered saying " You know now that you mention it, why in the world would I pay less when I have a good rate now?", but decided sarcasm would get me nowhere. I'm generally a pretty pleasant person, but this guy was just downright rude! Disney really needs to put more emphasis on cm training. Thanks for the fax info.....and letting me vent, if I have to call I'll definitely try the fax. :)

Got my call from WDTC this morning (res. 9/15-9/22). Very polite, very patient... Was offered other moderates for the same price as well as AKL for a discount. Was told there was availability at other resorts as well.

Took the AKL, savanah view room for a steal!

Woo Hoo!

Okay here it is a Venting and WARNING story:

I called the "special' team about a week after I heard of CBR closing. I couldn't wait for them to call as this is a suprise trip for my husband! Anyway I was transfered right over and never had to hold. I spoke w/ a wonderful CM who gave me AKL sav. view or so I thought. About 10 days later I got my confermation letter and it stated I had a STANDARD View. Well having never stayed at AKL I didn't know if that's what they say so I called up CRO the very RUDE cm said that yes I was booked for a standard view. I asked to be switched to a sav.view. She said to me "No can do Ms. you are only offered on change." At that point I was mad. I told her it was a miss undersatnding and that I asked for a sav. not stan. view. She says well let me check . When she came back she said well it doesn't matter there are no rooms aval. anyway. I said "It doesn't matter!" I asked to speak w/ the special team. After she told me that it wouldn't help any she switched me. I was very angry and upset at this point but after waiting for 97min. I cooled down. I told the girl my situation and she said there are no more sav. rooms aval. but to hold on. When she came back I had my sav. view room! So just to the people out there that are having a hard time don't give up or give in. It's your vacation and your money. And to everyone who has gotten their confermation letters make sure you look them over real close.

Ok, I need some quick help please! Our travel agent at AAA called today to see if she could get us agood deal for the Poly, and she called and said that the best they offered her was an extra 90$ a night per room! It seems to me that people are getting upgraded for 10 and 20 a night. Am i missing something?? Anyway, she asked me to find out who people are calling and what the number is, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

We booked thru AAA but the Poly was not available for our stay. We got AKL Savannah for an add. $22 a night (with tax).

That is what our agent told us - she had someone on hold from Disney as she was talking to me.

Not sure what number she called.
