Bye Y'all!! AKA the Blinks Play by Play Trip Report

Day 2 – MGM

Day time view from the room:

DSC_0115-1.jpg

We all got up around 8:30 and 1/2 of us had breakfast, the other 1/2 decided to wait until we got to MGM. We headed towards the boats this time as it is a quick 10 –15 minute ride from the Dolphin. As we get off the boat we noticed how many people were there. It was a lot more then we expected so we had to wait a bit for security and entrance into the park.
As soon as we got inside DH booked over to Toy Story Mania to get Fastpasses for later in the day while I took the kidlets to Staring Rolls for some food. Even the kids who ate were hungry again. There were huge lines here as well. I grabbed bagels for everyone and an apple turnover for DS13 and we set out looking for a table, one was to be had with only 4 chairs so I ate standing up. Around the time I finished DH came back, fastpasses were already at a 4:30 return time!
We didn’t really have a game plan for the park since DH can’t go commando anymore with his back the way it is, so we kind of followed the way the wind took us, and boy was it windy!!! It was pretty cold today with good wind gusts.
Anyway DD wanted to see the hat so we went there first then headed to the Great Movie ride. This is one of DH’s favorite attractions in this part. So off we go and literally walked right on, actually we ran. The train was just about to leave so they let us run to the train and we were the last aboard. We are testing out a new lens that we bought for low light rides and these are the some of the pics that we got. I am extremely satisfied with the lens.

After we finished that ride the boys went on Tower Of Terror while I waited to get FP’s to Rockin’ Roller Coaster. DD wanted some popcorn so we went on the hunt for that. Did you know the closest popcorn stand if all the way back towards the hat?!? Crazy, but we found it. We parked on a bench on Sunset Blvd and people watched while she ate and headed back to the store at ToT. I want to pick up a key for my WDW Tim Holtz inspired curio.

After ToT we headed to see the Beauty and the Beast show but it was packed so we opted to have a snack instead. Here Lisa, this shot is just for you!

So I took the Boys on Star Tours while DH took DD to the Honey I shrunk the Kids Playground. Star Tours was ok, and we walked right on but I am looking forward to the rehab and the new ride. It’s supposed to be pod racers.
We met up with DH at the playground and let the kids play for about 20 minutes before heading out for more. Who ever dreamed up this place is a sheer genius! This is one of our favorite rest spots, the kids can play and we just camp out by the exit. The kids know where to find us and check in on occasion.

After a quick potty break, well ok not so quick when you are a girl, we headed back to Beauty and the Beast. Still crowded but DD doesn’t really get to do much at MGM so we go here for her. I love this show, it even keeps the boys entertained. DD doesn’t move the whole time. She gets a little scared when Gaston comes but she just held on tight and had her travel lovey with her.

DSC_0262.jpg

Now it was time for fast passes at Rockin’ Roller coaster. DH takes the boys and they head off. Well after a bit, DH comes with DS8, he freaked when he got on the ride and DH had to bring him back. So the other boys had to ride alone, they did really well and listened and came out where they were told to go. DH was a little ticked but he’ll survive.
After RnR we headed to fast pass Toy Story Mania. Must do ride!!! I love this ride, even when people cut in front of you. The kids have never been on this ride before so it was a new experience for them. We do however have the Wii game at home so they knew the basic concept of the games. We had a blast! I think we will try to do it again on our last day.

DSC_0299-1.jpg

Then it was off to dinner, we were a little late getting there but we needed to use the Fast passes first, they are getting a little stricter on return times. We have never eaten at Brown Derby before and this was DH’s pick for today. We got seated right away. DH , DS13, and I got appetizers the were all fantastic. I got the crab cake, DH got the salmon, and DS got the scallop. We would recommend all 3. For dinner DS13 got the ahi tuna, DS8 and DD ordered hot dogs, DS9 ordered the fish strips, I go the Salmon and DH got the pork roast. DD fell asleep right after she ordered so we got her food to go. Everyone else cleaned their plates! The food was awesome as was the service, we will definitely be going here again.

After dinner we walked around the Osborne lights. This year they finally converted all the lights to LED and cut their energy usage in half. I’m so glad the mouse has gone Green! We had our pics taken by the photopass photographers and walked around a bit but the kids were getting tired so we headed out. It was a good thing we did too because it was the last boat of the evening. We met some nice teenage boys on the boat that were trying to get to MK for EMH so we took them with us up to the hotel and showed them where you could catch the bus. They were very nice gentleman and we used it as a lesson for DS13 on how to act when he is old enough to go out alone.

We headed back out for a few minutes and got some snacks at the Boardwalk, watched the fire works from Illuminations, then headed to the room for night.
I finished setting up the tree and DH ran to DTD to exchange the topper, apparently they are having issues with breaking. Here is a view of the room at night.

Day 3 is up next – Magic Kingdom

 Thank you so very much for sharing your day with us. It really feels like I am there with you.

Which floor are you on? What would I ask for if I wanted a view like yours?

Sounds like a great day!! Thanks for taking the time to post - I will probably never go at Christmas so I'll live vicariously through the Blinks!!

To tired to post tonight and we have an 8:15 ressie at Akershus in the morning. I will write up the daily report tomorrow and do a double post.

Let's just say today was a challenging day. It was a major lesson in patience.

Sorry yesterday was stressful and I hope the rest of the days are better!

I love your pictures of the MGM lights (we still call it MGM too). Gorgeous! Loving the TR. Thanks for sharing your Disney magic!

Sorry it was so challenging..was it the text message boatload? LOL I was reading it @ my sisters...I laughed so hard.. DH smiled and asked if they wanted photos???

Ok, looking forward to hearing more... will read the MGM day when I return as the little boys need to do their shopping and I forgot DS13 has practice @ 3:30pm.. ERK!

We LOVE that "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground, too! Isn't it the best? It's funny, of all the Disney attractions, it is the one our kids talk about the most! We do the same thing you do, Buffy, the kids run around for a half-hour or even an hour or more and we sit on the foamy ground in the "Parents Section" by the turnstile and just relax...

It is the place of one of DD12s happiest Disney memories, too. For the entire week+ we were there two years ago, she had been pin trading a lot and was attempting to get the entire pin set of six Pirates of the Caribbean Disney figures. She found her prized last pin of the set on one of the CMs in the playground. What a happy girl! :yay:

I am loving this trip report - thanks Buffy. Looking forward to reading more.

Those photos are amazing! What kind of camera do you have? And, what's the lens (I need to invest in a new one!)?

Dd road her first big girl ride, soarin.
Jennifer I will answer later, we are herding like cattle on spaceship earth.

MOO!!!!!

 Thank you so very much for sharing your day with us. It really feels like I am there with you.

we are on the 3rd floor, which is weird because when you drive up to the hotel you would think you were on the first floor but we are on the same level as the lobby. Our room is 3017. Any of the #017 rooms would have the same view. When DH and I came down in April we had a view of MGM too. There aren't very many "bad" views from here.

Sorry it was so challenging..was it the text message boatload? LOL I was reading it @ my sisters...I laughed so hard.. DH smiled and asked if they wanted photos???

No the Brazilians were actually well behaved, surprising I know! we saw them several times that day.

Those photos are amazing! What kind of camera do you have? And, what's the lens (I need to invest in a new one!)?

We are shooting with a Nikon D40 and the lens is a Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Camera-Lenses/2183/AF-S-DX-NIKKOR-35mm-f%2F1.8G.html

It's a flixed lens, no zoom. But it is fabulous for low light/no flash rides.

Bernard got the laundry duty tonight, and Miss B passed out before she could finish and post all the latest.

Long (short ?) night last night as DS13 lost the battle with his tummy. Good thing one of us has a strong stomach to deal with those things.

We'll get the full report on the weekend up soon.

Oh dear, I hope the tummy issues clear up before they jump from one to another!

Thanks for the info on the lens, I have a D40X, so I'm assuming it will work for my camera too! Yay!

Day 3 - Magic Kingdom

It was Sunday. I really don't need to say anymore. NEVER, EVER go to MK on a Sunday!!!! I really should know better, but it was the only day I could get Cinderella's. We got up late because we were exhausted so I zipped everyone through the showers and headed to the Bus to go to MK. We no sooner get there and DS8 spills coke all over her dress my mom made. So there goes DH madder then a hornet, back up to the room we go so I can clean it. Thanks goodness it's a silky material, because I got most of the stain out with a damp cloth.

DSC_0437_2.jpg

So round 2, we get into the gates and the place was crazy!!!! People everywhere. If it weren't for Cindy's we never would have stayed. We were able to check into CRT a little early but Cinderella wasn't out yet so we waited in the lobby. Good thing we checked in early because the line was super long before we knew it.
WARNING: FOOD PORN ALERT!!!
DH and DS13 got the Major Domo's Favorite pie, DS9 and I got the Salmon, DS8 got a hot dog and DD3 got Mahi Mahi. The food was beyond excellent as always. We love love love the food here! The dessert was awesome too! DS9 and DS8 got the ice cream sundae (complete with chocolate crown), DS13 and I got the chocolate cream cheese buckle, DD got the sorbet and DH got rice pudding.
We had great interaction with the princesses. DD was on cloud nine as we left the restaurant.

cute pic of DD peeking at the Carousel from the dining room
DSC_0481.jpg

After lunch we headed to Big Thunder but DD decided not to ride so we headed to the Playground under the train station next to Splash while the boys rode BTMR. Then we did a rider switch and I took the little boys while DH and DS13 hung out at the playground. DD was a hit with the other little girls but one was bossy. DD did not like her at all! LOL
As we left Frontier land the Princess Tiana show started. I wish there was a good meet and greet for her, but we could only watch the show from shore. If they opted to keep the show and had it on the boat, I would move to the right more. We couldn’t see the bad guy from where we were standing. It was a cute show though.

DSC_0524-1.jpg

We then went and rode the carousel, and we split up to ride Dumbo and Pirates. We met back up at the tea cups but DD had fallen asleep on a bench and my butt was frozen from the bench as well (the bench was metal). We wandered over to Space Mountain but it was a 2 hour wait and there was no more fast passes so we decided to eat. DD, DS13 and DH wanted turkey legs and the rest of us wanted cosmic Rays so we got both. Cosmic Rays was a lesson in patience, let me tell ya! So many rude people!!
We rushed through dinner and everyone was beat. Never sit down at Disney either! Your legs hurt like crazy and you get super tired fast. We were kind of torn about what to do next. We settled on Buzz (not really sure when we got F/P for it). Even with the Fast passes the line was a little long.

DSC_0659.jpg

After Buzz we booked it to Frontierland to grab a seat for Spectromagic, DD’s favorite parade. We got a great spot in front of the DVC shack and DH tried out the new video camera and I shot stills. All was going well until a group of “adults” came through and shoved and kicked DS9 out of his space. Needless to say I wasn’t very nice and filled the space with my big ole’ butt. Fortunately they were behind a pole so they didn’t get to see much as I shoved my way over.

DSC_0664.jpg

I finally got a clear shot of this float!!!!!!
DSC_0687.jpg

DS13 wasn’t feeling good so we decided to not wait for fireworks since we were all exhausted but we only made it to Main Street before they started. DD typically hates fireworks and screams her head off but this time she just plugged her ears and watched the whole show.

DSC_0797-1.jpg

We headed out with the rest of the herd after the fireworks were over, Changed DD into Pjs before we left and hit the busses. Where again my patience was tested.
The stupid bus driver left with sitting passengers only. Can you believe it?!!?
When we got back to the room everyone went to bed quickly. About 1 am DS13 woke me up because he had gotten sick all over the bathroom. It was gross! DH cleaned the bathroom while I tended to DS13, he slept in our room the rest of the night propped up in a chair. Poor kid!

Day –4 EPCOT is next (will post later, we’re late!)

Her dress is beautiful!

We've only ever had breakfast at Cindy's, but I may need to rethink that now!

Beautiful pictures!

Great report but sorry the day was so bad..
Oh, yes, DH and I strategic place ourselves around the kids and if you for one moment think of interferring on our kids that's it... we'll move you out w/o you even realizing. DD doesn't put up w/ it either... She is notorious for moving adults out of her personal space (she does it nicely but she sends them on their way).

Sorry to hear DS13 got sick... poor little guy....
Glad to hear DD got to ride Soarin'.. Auntie Nan doesn't even ride that, neither do the kids have the desire...
Her dress is adorable...she looks so cute peeking out... Sorry the park was crazy..making note no MK on Sunday. ;)
