"AVAST! Ye ole ride has broken down again!": TR (6/25-6/26) Final summary pg. 5

O.M.G. Colour changing straws? How did I miss those? Oh well, next time. Can't see the pics at work so I'll have to come back when I get home and catch up. I love rides at night, but my DH gets tired and doesn't want to wait more than 5 minutes for anything, so we didn't do too many. Apparently I should have just gotten him all hopped up on sugar and pickles! :thumbsup2

Morning 6/26:

Who's ready for lotsa pics? (I'm gonna have to make 3 posts this time) Ok, so we got up early again, made more sandwiches, checked out of HoJos :-)( ) and took the 8 minute hike to the parks. We entered the park and I grabbed everyone's tickets and ran off. Since there was a huge group of people on Main Street for the rope drop, I (being very smart) weaved my way through the shops and was one of the 5 or so people in the shop in front of the rope. GO THROUGH THE SHOPS! So they released the rope and the 5 people in the shop opened the doors and everyone started running to Space.

I was going to get FPs and meet everyone else at Peter Pan. But when I got to Space...closed = no FPs  So I ran all the way over to Indy to snag FPs there....closed = no FPs  Great  So I ran back to Peter Pan to join everyone in line and drink some water after running around so much already. We waited about 15-20 minutes for Peter Pan. I really like the new boats. Very cool. "Think of a wonderful thing"

Next ride was the Matterhorn. We rode FL side because it was closer. We only had to wait about 10 minutes because they weren't using the switchbacks under the covered area.

Then we rode Alice in Wonderland, a classic. Basically a walk on in the morning.

Continuing through Fantasyland, our next stop was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I have always liked this ride, even when I was a little kid.

The last of the Fantasyland dark rides (well, Snow White was closed) was Pinocchio. One of the most underrated attractions at DLR in my opinion, I really like this ride (and it never has a line).

We then all walked back to IASW. We hadn't seen the new and improved version yet, so it was fun looking for the Disney characters throughout the ride. But I wasn't a huge fan of the new U.S. scene at the end. It was just kinda weird. :confused3

Up next: Roger Rabbit with a walk on wait. Such a cool queue line. We actually got our taxi (me and Zach) to spin quite a bit. The best part is definitely the portable hole trick.

2378460430101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Walking back to Tomorrowland, we got Space FPs (finally it was open) and rode Star Tours. Even though it advertised a 15 minute line, it was about 20. I'm very excited to see the new film in the future.

2317543770101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Then we decided to hop. :yay: We got 6 ToT FPs and 3 Soarin FPs. As we were walking down the pier, guess what ride had broken down?
2156425250101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Yup, Screamin. Me, Zach, and my brother's friend rode Maliboomer, while the others got in line for TSMM. It was a lengthy wait for the ride, and so not worth it. They were only running 1 tower and it broke down while we were in line, so they switched towers. Then finally they opened another, which helped the line.

Another awesome shot
2484008830101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Then we joined the rest of our party in line (I know line jumping is horrible, I'm such a bad person :scared1: ) for TSMM and rode it again. This time I dominated and got the cat. My best game is the alien rings one.

Then we got Screamin FPs for later and hopped again to get our lunches from the lockers. End of our second morning. The afternoon segment will be much shorter than the others, and I will definitely finish up tomorrow!

I can't believe how many rides broke down during your stay! I hope that's something that Disney was able to fix. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the rest! :goodvibes

Afternoon 6/26:

I forgot to mention that as we were heading back to DL, we saw PUSH. For those who haven't seen it, PUSH is a walking, talking trash can. It was really funny. :lmao:
2693677890101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

We also stopped by the Blue Sky Cellar, which was really neat to see the new additions to DCA in the future.
2476941490101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

So we got back into DL and I ran to get Indy FPs. I met everyone else at Stage Door Cafe (one of our family's favorites), but some of us had sandwiches, so we started to chow down right away. Unfortunately for those who were purchasing food, the line was super long and we had finished our sandwiches well before the others got food. We basically sat there for a while and us kids chatted and we people watched. Then we decided to head back to Space for one last ride with our FPs from the morning.

2982356410101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Up next we decided to wait out the line for Nemo. The previous day the line was shorter, but some members of our party :-)rolleyes:) wouldn't believe me that it wouldn't get any shorter. Fast forward to Friday, and the line was longer, but we decided to wait it out. Whatever, we had delicious frozen lemonades, which we got from a stand where the guy told us that due to extreme crowds, a 3rd Fantasmic was going to be added. :scared1: Yep, it was crowded. Alright, some Nemo shots

2614219360101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

Leaving DL, we headed back to DCA for the Aladdin Musical. We showed up just in time because we were at the very front of the Balcony section line, which meant we got front row in the balcony! :thumbsup2

Crowd surge to climb the 40 flights of stairs to get the best seats
2058985070101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

I think I was so tired that I fell asleep during part of the show (the beginning), but I had seen it before, so it wasn't a huge loss. Some of the jokes were new since last time I saw it was a couple of summers ago.

Next, 6 of us rode ToT with FPs and the other 3 (my mom and my friends' parents) rode Soarin with their FPs.

2165970890101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

After that, my brother said that he would try Screamin.....wait.....Did I hear that correctly??? :scared1::scared1: So we strolled down to the Pier and rode it with out FPs. He rode with his friend in the 2nd row, and I was in the 3rd row with Zach, so I couldn't really tell his reactions. Here are some Screamin shots

2345053850101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

So we're going through the ride, and it's all fun and giggles, but we get to the part right after the bunny hills (you know, right before they take your picture) and on the brake run, our train just stops. Screamin (yet again) falls victim of the breaking down syndrome.
2390108540101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

So we're sitting up there for a long time.
2659904500101957511S500x500Q85.jpg

I yell at my brother "Did you like it?" and he gives me a big :thumbsup2 Sweet! :woohoo: Well we sit up there for a while until some CM comes and releases the brakes. We coast back into the station and exit. My brother says that Screamin is now his favorite coaster. Who woulda thunk it?

Unfortunately, we had to leave. It was about 6:15 when we left, but we gave the Indy FPs to our friends who wanted to ride that one more time and then they were off to see family in San Diego. But, apparently when they got to Indy it was broken down (AGAIN!). Goodness gracious. Yeah, so we left :( but we had a good time despite all of the ride breakdowns.

Oh I definitely will :goodvibes

Stay tuned for some more miscellaneous pictures of DL and DCA, as well as some general trip recap and summary. :)

Sounds like you had fun! Not sure what was going on that triggered all those breakdowns... :confused3 At least on Screamin' it was toward the end anyway. Congrats to your brother for trying Screamin'! Glad he liked it! :thumbsup2

By the way, I forgot to ask in my earlier post; what exactly is the portable hole trick? I'm not sure I'm familiar with it......

crowds, constant ride break downs, yep...sounds like summer at DL

Glad you had a good time!

Have you been on Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin? It's a really cool special effect at the very end where Roger Rabbit helps you escape via portable hole. I still don't know how they do it!

Great pictures! I can't believe how many rides broke down though! It sounds like you had a fun time though and got on loads of rides. :)

Hi, finally got a chance to look at your pics at home (stupid work blocking photo sites!). Glad I did, you have some great ones. I'm jealous actually, you got lots of good details, signs etc. They would look nice in my scrapbook! Afterall, I WAS there the same time you were, so I basically saw the same things. But I didn't see myself in any of your photos :sad2:

Breakdowns weren't TOO bad for us, we didn't get stuck on anything at least. But yes, it was crowded those days! You guys probably did more rides in 2 days than we did in 3. But... we were already 1/2 way through our trip by then so we were tired... :confused3 Good excuse?

Have you been on Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin? It's a really cool special effect at the very end where Roger Rabbit helps you escape via portable hole. I still don't know how they do it!

Ah, that would make sense....I've never been on it, but I'll have to check it out next time. Anyway, great pics as usual! :thumbsup2

Great pics!!!! I love TRs with tons and tons of pics!!

I can't believe how many rides broke down on you guys! Geesh!

You should definitely try it. It's one of my favorite dark rides. :thumbsup2

Great pics!!!! I love TRs with tons and tons of pics!!

I can't believe how many rides broke down on you guys! Geesh!

Yeah, it was getting a little annoying. Darn those broken down rides for meddling with a DISer's plan ;)

Here's a list of the rides that were broken down and when (at least to our knowledge):

Indy: Thursday night, Friday morning, Friday night
Space: Thursday morning, Thursday afternoon (power problem), Friday morning
TSMM: Thursday morning....twice
Screamin: Thursday morning, Friday morning, Friday night (while we were on the ride)
BTMRR: Thursday morning, Thursday night

Also when I sometimes passed the tip board at the end of Main Street, I noticed that Roger Rabbit and Autopia were sometimes closed too! :scared1:
