Wow! This is real talent. I was just trying to do something like this with the old song skater boy changing it to painter boy. (We had the painter at our house last week. )Feel free to work on that one. Lol
I think it's misleading because you act like Dreams and the Dis are not connected at times.
I GOT YOU GIRL JUST SAY THE WORD AND I'LL HANDLE THIS
I take offense to anyone saying that we are being misleading. I have personally explained the relationship between the DIS and Dreams Unlimited Travel many times on these boards. We have talked about it on the show more than once.
I actually feel like we are incredibly transparent. You see the owners multiple times during the week on various shows and our email/twitter/contact info is available to everyone. We even do Dreams shows that explain how we work as a company - I invite you to go back to our first one we did where we explain the company.
The relationship between the DIS and Dreams is that we share an owner - Pete Werner - but they are run very differently. Again this has been explained before many times. Dreams Unlimited Travel is treated as a sponsor of the DISUnplugged podcast. To equate it to a super bowl commercial for a product is just not accurate. If it were one giant commercial for the travel agency the content would be very different (hence the Dreams Unlimited Travel podcast).
The Patreon sponsorships are voluntary - like everything else. They help offsite the cost of all the podcasts produced by this site and I'm sure you know they have increased significantly over the past few years.
I think it's fair to say that everyone is entitled to their opinions on these boards (and we may not like when other disagree with our opinions) but please don't question my or Pete's integrity when it comes to our businesses.
DUFFY!Wait. I forgot what the word is!
Now that's a mic drop if I've ever seen one.
I feel bad that you and Kevin have had to defend yourselves and your business here. It's such a ridiculous thing to complain about. I've never once for half a second felt mislead or lied to.
Yep, I've said that earlier in this "discussion" also. Totally agree.AND we're forgetting that this week Pete said he's gonna start trimming housekeeping. This show actually listens to what it's fans say!
A few months ago I was critical of the video segments where Steve would call in. Steve said that he read that thread and started to change to make it a little better. And he's been killing it lately, doing an awesome job.
For a show this successful, it's kinda amazing that they still put so much weight into fan suggestions. They could easily just brush it all off. Plus you get direct communication with some of them, as we've seen in this thread.
This show does a lot right and is willing to change if they think it's going to be better for the audience. But to complain about 5 minutes each show that they dedicate to their business is a little ridiculous.
You gonna tn 'em, Sheriff?I GOT YOU GIRL JUST SAY THE WORD AND I'LL HANDLE THIS
Why is the phrase "safe word", and the image of a raunchy sitcom going through my head right now? I am a bad girl, a verrrrry baaaaaaaad girl.Wait. I forgot what the word is!
Did you say Farfegnugen? (Not sure how you spell it, and hopefully you'll know what I'm talking about).

GMTA.That is what I was thinking of too (though raunchy movie, not sitcom) - and I went ahead and posted said safe word from said movie: FLÜGGÅӘNKб€ČHIŒßØLĮÊN
(movie was Eurotrip)
I've worked in the public domain and presented to technical audiences (much more experienced and educated than me) which opened myself, and our company, to an onslaught of negative/constructive feedback. As such, defending a company and it's products is the very nature of a passionate and well-armed employee/owner. A private company that doesn't give transparency to it's customers/clients, would make me more apprehensive about their business practices and products. I don't find that the case with DU or it's majority/minority/equal owner(s).
Now what I do miss is the dining reviews by Kevin and John; that combo with their food descriptors is incredibly entertaining!

Coca Cola DOES ask you to fund their Super Bowl commercials.I have no problem with this. What I do think is a little misleading is when Dreams and Dis are presented as separate entities and then asking viewers to donate to support the Dis on Patreon. It's like if Coca Cola asked me to donate to fund their superbowl commercials.
