09/28/2002 Cruise

Hi All,

We made it home too :(

I found out some info regarding the Carnival Pride which was docked next to ours this morning, but I am not going to post my RANT on our lovely board (if interested see separate post).

Mary, Ave, Goofynut, William and everyone else who brought gifts for everyone THANK YOU!!!!

We all had a blast meeting you and I will write again tomorrow once my house is back in order.

Lauren

I am sorry you didn't get to do the Western route but jealous of the fact you did CC twice. Our thoughts were with you and all the others last week.
I guess this means you have to try again on the Western.

Hi Mary and everyone else.
I don't know what happened at the Radisson, but I am calling today to see what happened - the bottle was big enough and wrapped that it couldn't be missed including the names on it.
Key West was very nice - the weather was pretty as ususal - went down to Mallory Square and saw some of the different ships down there including the Pride which surprised me - I thought the port would be empty then to boot - the Navy ship USS Harry S. Truman was docked out about 8 miles and turned loose about 5000 sailors on the town for a few days of shore leave - Norm and I met a few of them at the Radisson where we stayed in KW - what a bunch of nice young men - I asked them how the seas were and they said they had no problems BUT then the Truman is a huge ship - I am glad Papa called and told me that plans had changed - Norm and I, among many, were very disappointed you all didn't make it there, but Disney had their reasons for taking the steps they did, I am sure.
Glad everyone had a nice time and glad everyone got home safe.
Keep in touch.
Hugssssssss to you and all
Love always
Shirley

Nice to meet you all. Nancy, Norm, Barb and George we enjoyed diining with you. George, hope you got your "birsday" pin!!
We went to the parks after and ran into, noneother than., Mike and Kathy and Art and Cathy. You go girl! with the pins. Sorry to say we spent Way to much on pins. Oh well. George, some guy wanted Bill's Birsday pin real bad. Said it was hard to get!

We booked another cruise for Ocotber 11th. All the way home we were "depresse" and kept saying where the Magic was at that time (does that make sense?) However we were also ready to get home. We are going to take advantage of that $599 rate you have to use by the end of the year. Are going to try and go the first week in December This time we will take the "little" guy too. MIssed him too much.

Off to get the bags unpacked and get the laundry done. :)
Elaine, Bill and william

Dennis and Chrystina: We enjoyed your company. Thanks for putting up with our rowdy bunch of children! But you can't say we didn't warn you!;)

And of course Mary and George: Thanks for "talking" us into going in the first place!

We arrived yesterday around 5:00 p.m. Although it was sad to leave, it is nice to be back. My shower has never looked so big!

I have just finished my final load of laundry. I really wish clothes were more like paper plates. Use them once and throw them out.

It was so wonderful meeting everyone. Seems like every where you went, there was a Diser.

This was our second mystery cruise. We cruised the same itinerary last year. From what we were told, this itinerary change only happens once a year. What luck. Oh well, we must try again.

Our room was a little noisy, but once our neighbors headboard was nailed to the wall it was nice and quiet. Just kidding, we had wonderful neighbors, Beth and her family. Her little girls are just precious!

I met a couple who have 13 children. She had 2 and he had 11 when they married. They are adopting twins any day now. Can you imagine?

I hope someone posts a trip report, I'm curious to read someone elses perspective.

Does anyone, by chance, have the navigators for San Juan, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay? Part of my daughters homework is to create a scrapbook with pictures and information on the places we visited. As you all know the front of the navigators had quite a bit of info. I thought I packed ours.

Also, does anyone have any idea how to make a portrait 8x10 picture into a landscape 8x10? I wanted to put the 8x10 from this cruise in the same folio from our last cruise, but the pictures are not the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Hope to see everyone again soon.

Found the St. Thomas and Castaway Cay navigators, still looking for San Juan.

Just want to welcome back home all the Cruisears - although I know some are still in WDW! Lucky Ducks!

We kept your thread from slipping into oblivion while you were gone and we now return control of it back over to you!
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Sounds like you had a GREAT cruise despite the detour. Castaway Cay twice had to be hard to take :) : :)

Also glad to hear some of you booked on board for the 10/11/03 Cruisetoberfest II.

Dave & Ellen

When any of you booked for a future cruise, did you see the paper that had the rate of $599 per person if you cruised by the end of the year? I called today to book for November and told the guy about the offer. I thought I had the paper, but must have thrown it out. He said if I had the code and more information he could probaby use that rate. If anyone has it could you email it or pm me? Thanks.

Elaine

Goofynut: check your private messages.:D

Scott talked to papa tonight on the phone. They are hoping to see the shuttle lift off tomorrow before heading home. He also told Scott that Art and Cathy was with them

Thank you all for making my Mom (Lillian's) first trip so special and memorable. It was great meeting as many of you as we could and enjoying our special time together.

For all the little gifts people brought - pins, lanyards, name tags, decals, etc. - thank you so very much!

A big hug thank you to Rikersmom (Karen and Ed) for "just being so special" - as dining mates, they were tops!

Now back to the reality of being home and all those four letter words - cook, dust, wash, iron....

Rae

I just had a turkey sandwich for lunch, and Ed (always the helpful mate) said, "Gee, I wonder what's for lunch at Topsider's?"

I'm still experiencing the wobbly legs feeling--I don't remember how long it lasted after previous cruises. Ed brought home a giant-sized cold--I'm blaming the airplane air instead of the ship's air! Anyway, I'm keeping my distance from him in the hope that I didn't get the same germs.

It was sooooooo wonderful meeting all of you in person. Rae, it's awfully boring at dinnertime without Michael. He was such a delightful guy. Please tell him that his friends miss him.

Riker report: (Ed still can't believe how many of you were kind enough to inquire about Riker's health!) We have to postpone the cataract surgery until we get some of his other levels under control. Hopefully, we'll make some changes in his diet. The vet thinks that his special dog food may not be the correct special dog food. (Makes me wish that I was in the special dog food business.) Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound.

Karen

Hey Everyone:D

We really want to thank everyone for a great trip! We had a blast meeting everyone and being able to put faces with names.

Thanks to everyone who brought gifts (lanyard, holders and pins), they were great.

We got back home Saturday night and were pretty much wiped out on Sunday. Then today it was mow the grass and back to work.

We don't know just yet when we are going to take another cruise, we do know that we will be on the Magic again one of these days and hope that all the "DisCruisars" are there.:bounce: :bounce:

See You Real Soon.

Hi
I think I've met most of you but I'm twinave's daughter!
jumpinggreens.gif
I can't wait until the next cruise we are going on October 11, 2003! :smooth: Well, I've got to go to bed:(

We arrived home around 11:00pm Saturday night - makes for a long day when you have to clear Immigration at 6:00am. The temperature was down to 1 last night (Celsius, that is) which is a far cry from the 85F we had to endure on the ship. :D

Karen, I don't think Ed's cold was from the plane - both Diane and I are fighting colds which we both acquired onboard the ship.

I've been checking out some of the other ships we saw at various ports (Grand Princess, Explorer of the Seas, Carnival Spirit) at cruiseserver.net and it does appear that Disney stacks up with any of them.

Oh Mike, there was never a doubt now was there? ;)

Welcome home everyone. Happy planning your next cruise. Wish we were going as soon as next October. We're thinking '04. Did any of you receive that questionnaire from DCL about the possible Mediterranean cruise? That peaked my interest.

Vonda: I do have the San Juan navigator. I don't have a scanner so it will have to either be faxed or snail mailed. PM me with the info if no one with a scanner has it.

Elaine: I save everything I pick up (my husband gives me a really hard time but I say you never know!) but I knew we couldn't go again so soon so I must not have grabbed that info. I'm so sorry. I just double checked my stack of papers from the cruise.

Well we did not arrive home until mid-day on Sunday. Our plane had mechanical problems in PHX and after they loaded and unloaded us and we had been up for 20 hours straight we asked to be put up overnight. They very kindly granted our request although our luggage continued on that night without us. I spent almost 48 hours straight in the same clothes. Yuck!!!!!!!!!

Karen & Ed: Thanks so much for getting us into the brunch! We had a wonderful time. I couldn't believe we had been there that long since the time just flew!!

We had a wonderful time meeting everyone and thought the organization was great! Thanks to everyone for making this an "excellent" experience.

And to top everything off ~ we sold our house yesterday. A nice young couple looked through it 3 times while we were gone and were just waiting for us to return. We have one month to find a rental and move. Speaking of which I guess I'd better get to work in finding us a temporary place to live! Our house will not be finished for several more months. I feel sort of homeless right now.

Vonda, I have the San Juan navigator. If you email me with you email address I can scan and send it to you. eshannon@ctcweb.net
Hope we sell our house soon. Congratulations!
We have someone looking tomorrow night. Yeah! Elaine

Hello everyone,
I am glad everyone made it home safe and was able to escape from the world of reality if only for a little while - I spoke to my uncle in Key West and he wanted each of you to know that even tho he was disappointed at not being able to meet up with each of you, that anytime you find yourself back in Key West, he would love to meet up with you - To those that ordered baskets - I hope that they met your expectations - thank you - those to whom I spoke to, what a pleasure each of you were -
I hope that someday we will have the opportunity to meet up.
Mary - this was our 2rd try wasn't it? Maybe the 3rd will be the one. The Radisson remembered the bottle of champagne, but did not know what happened to it
 - so maybe better luck next time.
God bless and each stay safe.
Always
Shirley
