:cool1: I was hoping to see a June planning thread....we will be there from 6/6-6/14 staying at VGC. This is our first ever trip to DLR and first ever to the West Coast (we are WDW Vets). My family is beyond excited about going to DLR; the kids are very excited about seeing Carsland and riding California Screamin, while DH and I are really excited about being in the park that Walt Built (of course we are excited to see everything else too). DH and I are all about the nostalgic of Disney and can't wait to see DL and ride the original rides that he had a first hand in creating :goodvibes.

Hi there.
We'll be there May 18- June 2 staying at the Hojo in a kids suite for 6 nights, then in a vacation rental for the remaining 9 nights.
Flying all the way from Australia for our second trip to Disneyland. I so wish I lived closer and could always say 'If we miss it this time, we can do it next time'. Thats why we're staying so long. Hopefully we won't miss anything!
We will have a 10 day Disney pass, hope to do Universal, Knotts Berry, beach day, Hollywood/LA etc, and whatever else we can fit in.
Last year (well August 2011) we did Disneyland, San Diego (Legoland), Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. My view for anyone who might be interested is that Grand Canyon is not worth making a special trip to, especially with kids. It's a long drive and wonderful to see, but pretty boring after an hour or so. My 8 year old still says how bored he was!!
Legoland might be an ok day trip, but after Disneyland is a real letdown. Our mistake was planning our whole visit to San Diego around Legoland. Maybe if we had just a day trip there it would have been better. Although when you ask the boys (8 and 10 at the time) what they thought of Legoland, they'll still say it was 'Awesome'!
Great to have others to be excited with. Our trips really aren't that far away:yay:

We're headed for our first DLR trip May 5-10th. We'll be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary, DH's birthday and my DD's 4th birthday. Staying at the Grand Californian.

I'm excited to see that too. I keep thinking there will be a whole different "feel" to the park because Walt was so involved.

Holy Moly - That's a big trip. How fun!!! I just said to my DH tonight that someday I want to go to Australia. I imagine that will be a big trip for us too! lol

The Grand Californian! How lovely!! We'll be in the park at the exact same time. :)

Count me in! We will be at Disneyland on 5/28 & 5/29.

We live in Arizona. Will be driving out to San Diego on 5/24 to spend Memorial Day weekend with some relatives, then on Memorial Day, will drive up to Anaheim to check into our hotel, followed by 2 days at the parks! It is our kids' first trip. Wanted to go last year, but some health issues of mine prevented that.

I am thrilled to get on Luigis flying tires. That is the one ride when I look at 1955 DL that I have always wanted to do. It is the main reason we are going. I'm not sure I'd be braving DLR with a 10 month old if it wasn't for that ride! And, the opportunity to get Boo with Minnie for her 1 year old invitations!

We'll be there!! June 23-29th. My DH's birthday is the 28th, and my DD's 6th birthday is July 10th, but we're celebrating it as well. This will be my third trip to DL, but my family's first time, and we are so excited!! My 13 yr. old DD can't wait to ride the Matterhorn and Indiana Jones, and of course we're all geared up for Carsland!
I just read that the Future Business Leaders of America will be having their convention during this time (26-30) with 8000 kids in attendance. I hope it doesn't affect us too much![/QUOTE]

I am an advisor for FBLA. The last time we had our NLC at the convention center, the parks did not seem too bad. FBLA does offer discounted one day hopper passes, but I am not sure how many of the teenagers take advantage of it. I will escort 10 high school students, and we will have 4 day hopper passes. Where you will feel the effects is at the hotels near the convention center and at the food places surrounding the hotels.

Thank you, that makes me feel better!

Also, for the roll call, we'll be at the Paradise Pier Hotel

Very fun - I love San Diego. Are you doing any attractions there too or just visiting family?

Where are you staying for Disneyland?

Mostly just visiting family. Have a SIL & BIL in La Mesa and an AIL & UIL in northern San Diego County off of I-15. SIL & BIL have 2 kids, their eldest is same age as my 4 yr old, so since we've never taken the kids to the San Diego Zoo, we may do that. Or we may just let the kids run around SIL & BIL's backyard and play all day while us adults chill out.

We're going to be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Originally was planning on Hojo's, but my sister gave us a very generous gift of 3 nights in the DL Hotel for my, DH's, & our kids' 2013 birthdays. so we're staying there instead!

I'll jump in as a maybe for June. Still currently under consideration. We want to do an addition to our house so I was thinking we would skip vacation this summer, but DH said today he wants a vacation more than more work (he would do most of the construction himself). So it's still on the table.

Not sure of dates yet, I'm thinking the earlier in June the better as far as crowds? But we never know how many snow days will get tacked onto the end of the school year until winter is nearly over.

My plan is to fly into SD, stay at The Dana and check out Sea World and Mission Beach, then Amtrak to Anaheim, stay at Park Vue and fly out of SNA. No car rental. DH drives for a living and does not like to drive and navigate a strange place on vacation.

We are WDW pros but DLR seems overwhelming. But I know we will enjoy it.

Our biggest concern is World of Color. We just can't decide if it is worth a two hour wait. Nothing is worth that to us.

Are the dining packages that beneficial? Or do they just get you a good area, not a good spot?

We are doing two nights in Santa Monica 6/8-9. 3-day hoppers at DLR with a beach/driving day.

Yahoo! We can finally say we are going this year!

We will be there in June! Arriving Saturday June 15 and staying through Wednesday June 19. Our park days will be 6/16-6/18. Our first day in the parks is Father's Day, hopefully it won't be super crowded! We are staying at the Ramada Maingate ATP (At The Park).

DLR will actually be the middle portion of our trip. We plan to fly into Phoenix on 6/12, stay one night at the Grand Canyon, 2 nights at Las Vegas, 4 nights at DLR, 2 nights at San Diego and 1 night at Santa Barbara before flying back home on Saturday 6/22 out of Santa Barbara.

This will be our 2nd trip to DLR. First one was in July 2010. I'm excited to come back and super excited to see the new addition of Cars Land!

Well of course anyone would like a vacation more than work around the house. lol

Yeah, we've decided WOC is just not worth it for us. From what I understand the dining packages get you a reserved area. It doesn't guarantee you a great view. Plus when I looked at the menu, I wasn't really thrilled by it so it really felt like we would be paying $35/person for colored water. ;)

What a great trip you have planned!!! We're only 10 hours from the Grand Canyon and still haven't gone. One of these days...

Just my experience with WOC. Last time I went, I was in an ECV and my bro was planning the trip. They had seen WoC before we got there, so we were going to stand by the LM ride and watch. A CM said we could. Some nice person handed us their passes for the very back of the show. Being in the ECV and unable to stand for the show, I was not able to see the whole thing. However, the music and what I saw was fabulous. And, I waited about 20 minutes! If you are okay with only seeing a little bit of it, that's an option!

If you need help with Las Vegas, let me know! I live there!

Hey there all!!

I'll be there may 4-10th at the fairfield inn.
I just looked at the may calendar you provided and didn't even realize that cinco de mayo landed on the only sunday we will be able to watch the fireworks &/or fantasmic on our trip! We are flying in basically overnight and planning to sleep in late on that sunday.

Considering the weekends are already busy plus the fact that it will be cindo de mayo, will DL be crazy packed? And do you guys think that park will hit capacity and not let people in like us who will be arriving late afternoon? I sure would hate to miss it!

June 4th - 9th here....to make up for our last trip which was this past November 25 - 28th, but I managed to come down with a horrible stomach flu/virus and could not leave our hotel room for any of the three days! Needless to say, that left us with a ticket we HAVE to use, so June it is!

Got a GREAT rate ($165/night) for the Disneyland Hotel...stayed at Paradise Pier once, but am really looking forward to DLH!!!! pixiedust:

It is a convention rate...we are also attending a homeschool convention at the DLH at that time.
