Maybe this will be cause for some optimism after this some what let down:

"Walt Disney Company has its fiscal second quarter 2021 financial results webcast beginning on May 13, 2021. A portion of this is usually devoted to forward-looking expectations, with positive changes meant to create optimism among investors on the call. That earnings call would present the perfect opportunity for Disney to announce plans to relax physical distancing and increase attendance"

They have been talking this up on the blogs! They seem certain capacity will be raised. I already have my alarm set! I think we should have another viewing party!!!!! This time, I’ll create a viewing party thread that morning, so we don’t take up too much space here 😂

My takeaway is the news of an emergency center at Flamingo Crossings for guests and locals. I can't imagine how many onsite guests struggle(d) to find a provider in emergency situations; this location with WDW centralizes healthcare. I thought one of the items listed was Rx and equipment delivery as a coming option. We'll see details shortly, I'm sure.

I never really thought about where to go if we had a medical emergency onsite.

I did once have to go to an urgent care with a friend to get some antibiotics. It was pretty easy and the place picked us up and everything - there were so many Magic Band wearing folks in the waiting room! They were pretty efficient though and the Target across the street could fill the Rx. Having something like that closer will be nice.

The capacity increase is coming...with the opening of more resorts and restaurants, it's just a matter of time. I think things will start to look somewhat different around Memorial Day - great time for testing leading into the July 4th Holiday.

It's why I'm expecting the change to 3ft. I don't see how they can increase capacity without condensing the queues. More restaurants and attractions are starting to open up so clearly they are gearing up for more people.

yes the increase in coming but they have to do more then just resorts and restaurants. The optics of a line for the Jungle Cruise stretching out in to the Hub or the line for Splash twisting all the way to Liberty Square will see people rethinking trips with that type of environment

The lines will be shorter due to distancing decreasing to 3 feet - yes, there will be more people but the lines will also be shorter. People are not going to decrease - the optics have been in place for months and people are coming regardless of the restrictions. These welcome changes will help to increase reservations for Disney.

In the article it said they debuted it today, does that mean it's hopefully opening today or soon?

They do say at the end of the article...

“We'll back later for a first taste to try out some of the offerings, so check back for a closer look at the menu.”

So I assume that means it’s open?!

Well, I had fun and could feel the anticipation building in me as I was reading the last few pages - especially since my computer was doing updates and I couldn’t do work. Even if it wasn’t overly exciting news your posts were more fun than watching my blue screen.

A little more detail on the emergency/primary care centers:

"In addition to the virtual services, AdventHealth and Disney are also constructing a 20,000 square foot, freestanding emergency department. It will sit near at the Western gateway near Walt Disney World Resort.

The emergency department will be open 24/7, staffed by “AdventHealth physicians and will feature a state of the art equipment,” according to Disney.

Next to the emergency department, a new “personalized primary care experience” will also open called AdventHealth Primary Care Plus. This will also be open seven days a week."

But if all youre going to do in reduce to 3ft how is that going to shorten the wait times? they will actually grow with increased capacity. The only thing that might help is if they stopped the ride cleaning cycles

That should be convenient, and there is a Target planned for Flamingo Crossings too, so prescriptions can be filled there. Also, I hope the online options can helpw tih things like antibiotics. My friend had gotten an abcess on a tooth that was already scheduled to be extracted (after the trip), but his dentist wouldn't call them in. We had to have a visit, but the urgent care took care of it.

Are they filling rides to capacity yet? Or still leaving rows empty? That could definitely help with wait times. Haven't been keeping up with the news so wasn't sure if they are filling rides up yet. I could have sworn I saw a live stream recently where someone was solo on smuggler's run and got the whole ride to themselves. Stuff like that definitely makes waits longer.

I didn't say they would reduce wait times - they will most likely increase. The physical line will become shorter - people will be standing half the distance closer to one another.
