2022 Point Chart release date?

Not all did though. The BWV SV studio, for example, went from 78 to 85 Dec 15th to 23rd, which does help offset the difference first two weeks which went down...which IMO was a strange move for sure.

I don't care about specific dates I am saying for the year in total.

For RIV:
Studios went down the most
Gv went down just a tiny amount
2BR went up just a tiny amount
1BR went up the most

To be clear overall I will want to discuss specific times that should be more. Just right now initially looking at it just see this weird aspect of how they shifted points between room categories which seems opposite of general consensus.

My analysis isn’t coming out quite like yours because I looked at how many dates and types of rooms in that View.

But, I am not done yet so maybe when I am I will see what you did. I mentioned in other post that Season 6 for PV studio went up 5 points and given how many more of those there are compared to tower and SV, it may be enough to offset the reduction in SV studios that happened.

I am also not seeing much change in 1 bedrooms that were not offset in other seasons. SV 1 bedrooms in Season 2 went up 5 but Season 3 went down 1 and Season 4 down by 3.

Same with PV 1 bedroom...Season 3 went down 5 and Season 4 went up only 2.

So overall, it seems 1 bedrooms are pretty comparable. Or am I looking at something different than what you are talking about?

So I am looking at the total for booking all 364 days. I am not worried about seasons but simply the studio vs 1b vs 2b vs GV

This is what isn’t making sense to me. Out of all the rooms at RIV, the SV studio is the hardest by far to book in any season (even harder than TS). Why would they not increase those points to decrease PV so that the demand gets spread more? Even 1 point in each direction would have helped. If there are more PV then SV then they could have just increased the GV slightly or something to make it equal again.

Again for the year in total all studio rooms decreased in total points. Each category saw a decrease.

On the flip side both view categories for 1BR and 2BR saw increases in points.

If I'm understanding correctly how you are doing that you won't be able produce a number that is the correct change because not al the seasons have the same number of days. In order to compare you must figure out the exact number of days both weekdays and weekends in each season. If points are shifted around between seasons it will make a big difference depending on how many days there are in each of the seasons that the points are shifted. And you also have to consider the number of villas in each room size and view.

Since all rooms categories and views would shift the exact same, then the % it is off should be exactly the same. There is zero reason why studios would go down and 1br would go up in total points for the year based on the calendar, instead it means they are messing with the Studio vs 1BR vs 2BR balance of points.

Example to make it simple:
Season 1 - Studio 1 point / 1BR 3 point
Season 2 - Studio 2 point / 1BR 6 point

Year 1 - 2 Days from S1 and 2 Days from S2
Studio = 6 / 1BR = 18
Year 2 - 3 Days from S1 and 1 Day from S2
Studio = 5 / 1BR = 15
Studio = 16% Decrease / 1BR = 16%

As you can see if everything is kept the same all room categories should increase and decrease exactly the same. That is not happening here though. While Studios and GV are decreasing you have 1BR and 2BR increasing.

I agree it makes no sense to make studios lower and raise 1BR's. I have yet to look at the charts to see better what they've done. You're speaking of Riviera in this particular instance?

So here is the BWV side:
Studio Std (-1.88%) Pref (-0.37%)
1BR Std (-0.28%) Pref (+1.38%)
2BR Std (-0.63%) Pref (+0.19%)
GV (-0.13%)

So looks like they moved points from Studio Standard View in to Preferred 1BR at BWV?

Again why are they moving Studio Points in to 1BR when Studios book up the quickest even with their relative small size.

I’m still confused by this way to analyze as I think number of days in each season and number of rooms has to matter.

But, that’s okay since it’s not unusual for me to have my own way of looking at things. Lol

You are looking a little more Micro and I am looking a little more Macro.

Both sets of data have their own story. Mine it tied more so to the discussions that have been going around Studio vs 1BR point requirements and Poly Studio vs Bungalow.

Here is something I find interesting and so far, only did SV studio for RIV. The adjustment of dates has really increased the number of days during 2022 that cost more over number of days in 2021...I left out Xmas and Easter since that season is always 14 days,

Season 2 went from 64 to 45 days to get it for 116 a week.

Season 3 went from 98 days to 49 days. It cost 123 for a week. So, it went from over 3 months in 2021 to less than 2 months to pay that.

Season 4 went from 30 days to 153. It cost 132 per week in 2021 for about one month, but in 2022, it will be 130 points a week for about 5 months.

To me, this is going to impact studio only guests quite a bit as a good portion is now in a higher season.

ETA: Forgot season 5! Now that one was a plus for studio owners as it went from 84 days at 146 a week. down to only 6 days...which is what accounts for the reduction in summer!

Ya, it just seems fishy in regards to lowering the points for the studios and raising the points on the 1bdrms.

But, I think...as I posted above...when you look more closely, and the change of the number of days at the higher seasons, studios will cost owners at RIV more for many more days in 2022 than 2021.

I just checked POLY and there is the tiniest of point changes:

Studio Standard +0.65%
Studio Lake +0.38%
Bungalow +0.17%

That shift seems to mostly be calendar based.

We are looking at it differently but from my view you need to account for the all up point total that DVC wants a specific room category to have.

My math is built off the May Calculation on room inventory for RIV so if you have updated numbers let me know.

Point change for year across category:
Studios (Tower/Standard/Preferred): -16,558 (reduction of 1.51 points per week per room) (Biggest Winner Standard Studios reduction of 2.48 point per week per room)
1BR (Standard/Preferred): +32,237 (increase of 3.50 points per week per room) (Biggest Loser Preferred 1BR increase of 4.40 points per week per room)
2BR (Standard/Preferred): +7,260 (increase of 1.55 points per week per room)
GV: -1,548 (reduction of 2.48 points per week per room)

Again a slight change all in the same direction would point to the calendar being the reason when you have points going in opposite direction that means DVC stuck their hands in and changed the balance between room categories.

I like to look at the differences though in what percentage of the year is up or down, as that is reality for me.

Based on what I have done..within margin of error.,,in 2021, you could get a SV studio for 123 or less per week approximately 51% of the year,

In 2022, that is down to about 32% of the year. So, from this view, there has been a pretty big change. There is a much smaller window to book at studio at those lower levels.

For me, that means, a much smaller window of travel times in which I..and others...can capitalize on those lower levels.

But I agree....there are so many ways to look at things and I am sure we can all find ways to make it fit the info we want.

My next goal...once I finish this for my travel times....is to look to see if any seasons had lock off premium changes.
