All reports I’ve read or heard about this incident are that they’d both left before the police arrived. After they talked to the police.

Officer: "Okay lady, put your dog on the leash and move on. Both of you take a selfie and leave each other alone. If I have to come back here again, one or both of you are gonna be unhappy."
Yes, the woman's racial attitudes are symptomatic of larger societal problems, but in the grand scheme of keeping the peace in the "city that never sleeps," this event is unimportant.
Big fun for the Twits and Facebookers, but it won't go down in the history books.
This is over the top being stupid shouldn't get you fired especially if you are not at work or wearing work clothes. I know she was wrong but this pathetic mob mentiality is pathetic why should she lose her dog for that?
Yes, this very minor Central Park dispute was totally unimportant."Unimportant"? "Big Fun"?
Shame we can't get George Floyd's take on it.

The George Floyd case in Minneapolis and the Arbery case in Georgia are both legitimate big deals.
To compare this entitled little princess' outburst to either of those situations is really a slight to Mr. Floyd and Mr. Arbery.
Every situation anyone feels is important enough to call the police has the potential to become important. The overwhelming majority of police responses end up NOT being important -- sometimes because the parties calm down, sometimes because the police defuse the situation. It's really only unimportant because the man filming stayed calm, the woman did not attempt a physical altercation and the cops (if they even spoke to both parties) did not overreact. It definitely had the potential to be as "important" as those cases.
What blows my mind is that she kept ranting even after she knew he was recording her. Didn't it occur to her that maybe it would be a good idea to just shut up?
I would argue that the slope is made much more slippery by people equating non-events like "Central Park Karen" with actual murders. It's precisely how the slide down that slope looks at the start; benign, relatively minor, no big deal. Neglect helps seeds grow into weeds in a hurry. Neglect is encouraged by engaging in rhetoric about Twits and Facebookers.
What company would stand their ground and NOT fire her? She stood there and called 911 and LIED LIED LIED. She was angry at being told she was doing something wrong. The answer to that is to apologize and put the dog back on the leash and go about your way. Her reaction was disgusting. She might think she is not a racist, a liar or a dog abuser but it's pretty clear she is all three and probably more.

Totally unimportant to you, but not to me. It is indicative of a deep, lasting problem. In other circumstances not much different, a fake cry for help has unspooled out of control.Yes, this very minor Central Park dispute was totally unimportant.

And this is how racists allow racism to continue. Incidents are swept under the rug or called “minor” because nobody was hurt.
Ok, I'll start: In the key of G: Racism is not much of a concern (sung to the tune of "I don't really care because I benefit from it.")Let's have an 80's singalong!

We're all big boys and girls here, and I'm pretty sure we all recognize that bias, prejudice, discrimination, and outright racism are important issues in society. I haven't seen a single post here saying what she said and did was okay.
It doesn't lessen their tragedy for me. I can easily fathom both situations for their own indications. For example, I can be alarmed by an airline faking safety inspections AND the news of a deadly airline crash. Plus I can understand how one can lead to the other. Fortunately, the human mind is fully capable of separating the two and understanding the connection. But nothing is being swept under the rug. There was nothing the police could do.
Her crazy actions are out there for all the world to see and everyone can see her racism. BUT the pp is right, to compare this incident to the one in Minneapolis or in Georgia is lessening the tragedy of what happened to those two men.
Calmly gets frisked? LOL. Yes I am sure that is what would have happened,I'll just note that whatever she was doing, it didn't exactly seem to be a very effective plan. I guess if there weren't recording devices then maybe we could see a she said, he said situation where she's assuming she'll be believed over him. But they're recording each other while she's telling him how she's going to get her revenge on him like Bond villain discussing an evil plan.
What happens if they both stay around and the police find them. He calmly gets frisked, shows them what he's got on camera, and she gets arrested on the spot for filing a false report or misuse of an emergency response service.
What she ended up doing is more of what I might expect when someone is drunk or otherwise intoxicated. But she seemed lucid. None of that made any sense.
