Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

I “played” from home today and tried for a boarding group...my join boarding group button was red until into 0903 and then when I tried again within 0903 I got the message that I’d be joining a back up boarding group. At 0903 it said they were boarding groups 1-5

I’m not sure how this helps me or others but it was fun! And I just want to be there already doing it for real! Come on April!!!

Backups tend to last a while on Mondays.
Good to know.

Our first DLR day is Monday, and we're going again Tuesday, with Wed & Thurs planned DCA days. But, having said that, I WILL make changes if we have to for the ride. We only have day day/park passes this time around and I have a flex pass. If we don't get on the ride this time around, I can try again in October when I come back. But I'd love my DD2 to get on this ride as she only comes ever 2 years or so.

The DL app was behaving different this morning, I like to toggle between Join Boarding Group button on FOM page and the My Status method, practicing both ways. I always do the red/orange JBG button first when I select the FOM button a few seconds after OPO, which was what I did this morning. Then back out and do the My Status steps from FOM page. This time the blue outlined JBG button in My Status steps was greyed out though I was able to get to the last steps of a BG through the direct red/orange JBG.
I was actually just typing this post. I saw the same thing. (Android.)

This morning, playing from home, I did the usual clean start at 8:59am, FOM at 9:00am. Orange button, all good.

For kicks, I went to My Status after that, and was surprised to see that the Join button there was grayed out. Refresh the page, nothing.

With the app still open, I went to the App settings page and cleared cache. Went back to the app (My Status still open), the page reloaded, blue Join button.

I've got a visit coming up - I'm tempted to keep the App settings open just in case something locks up so I can clear cache.

I just logged in for practice and apparently I can still get a boarding group?! I'm playing from home. We'll be there next week so I'm getting my trigger finger ready.
You can click on "Join BG" and, if you also have tickets/APs already, select your group. But it will not let you actually join. It will tell you that you are not in the park that day.

Yes, that's true. I was just surprised I was moved along instead of receiving the standard electronic raspberry I usually get.

Going this Thursday. Just got a reservation for Plaza Inn at 0810 so that we can be assured we are in the park at 0900. We live about 60 minutes away (with traffic, on a weekend its 35!) and are leaving by 0630. Being in the park at opening to even try is what I was concerned about plus we've wanted to go to Plaza for breakfast for a while so this is hopefully a win-win.

We've been quite a few times since the ride opened but this our first time trying! Have loved following this thread and all the helpful information! Going in with a good attitude and lucky that we will have more opportunities if it doesn't work out.

Today was the first time the Join boarding group didn’t light up, clicked on My Status and took a few seconds to load. Got BG 54.

We got to the Harbor stop light at 7:15, through security by 7:39, in the gates at 7:51. Walked across to DCA, no line, in by 7:55

We were 57 on Saturday!

First three hours: 54 groups called.

Impressive. Most impressive.

Ah, but wait...

Pretty sure ride is down, have been in the same spot for 10 minutes after moving pretty fast

We got in line and it had slowed waaaay down and I thought, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
We got return fastpasses

We did too, but I wonder if it's because we weren't farther back in the line as someone else was saying. We were... pretty close to the front (I'll just leave it that so as not to spoil anything)

Our time at Disneyland has come to an end. My family was lucky enough to ride RotR 3 times. We received fastpasses after it broke down yesterday, went back at around 6 and the entire ride queue was full I was about to give away our fastpasses (I was planning on texting screenshots) but decided to give it a try. Didn’t realize they had a fastpass line, it was awesome and we were done by 6:30. Thanks everyone for the tips, if you read this thread and follow instructions you’ll get a boarding group. May the force be with you.

I also rode three times!

I thought it was very cool that we got escorted out through the FP entrance. I had to ask exactly where to go when we came back and it was neat to do the FP queue and see where it will be, as well as a pretty backdrop for photos :)

Looks like our group will have a decision to make then. Give up magic morning for a potential ROTR BG. Hmm... why have they not added DCA as a usable entrance for getting a BG yet?

I suspect it has something to do with coding. Disneyland sells both tickets and APs that on any given day could only be used in one park. By only allowing people who scanned into Disneyland obtain a boarding pass, they automatically eliminate those with one-park passes for the day that will only be using their passes in DCA. It would take an extra step for the system to “know” that a person scanning into DCA has a one park pass and block it from obtaining a boarding pass. It certainly is doable, and I think we will see that happen in the future. But not until boarding groups start lasting more than 30-60 seconds.

FYI: We scanned into Disneyland at 7:30 yesterday morning after going through security at around 7:10. They started admitting people into DL at around 7:10. If you want to take advantage of EMH, I suggest being one of the first people in line at DL. If they start scanning people into DL 45-60 minutes before DL opens, you can enter DL, exit, and then enter DCA and still enjoy a significant portion of EMH.

Just confirming, if you’re not an on-site guest and don’t have a MM ticket, you nevertheless can book a Plaza Inn reservation during the EMH/MM hour? We have one for a Saturday but I was nervous because there was a notation about EMH being limited when I booked.

Yes and the far left gate closest to the tram drop is where you’ll enter the park.

Are backup boarding groups actually still available? At 10? Just playing with the app to familiarize myself. Going the week after Easter. I'm concerned about how hard it will be to get one that week!

Looks like the backups are gone sometime between 10:02 and 10:05.

As expected first backup is 72. I'm guessing after yesterday they distributed a few more today. Hopefully they get to them all!

Sounds like we were in line pretty close to each other.

Yes, looks like they lasted for over an hour today.

I have not ridden it. If it were me, I would use my DL days to shoot for low groups, and I would use my DCA days to do DCA Early entry and then pop over maybe 5 minutes before opening and get a backup group. Backups tend to last a while on non early entry days, Fridays excepted. What days are you going to be in the parks?
Sat and Sun. So we will have one early day at DL and one DCA.
And our DCA day we will be leaving around 6 or 7 to catch return flights.
