DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning guys from a Sunny(ish) London. Drew breath and opened up my work emails. 1067 was my magic number. Once I'd read through half, as usual it was people covering their Alien Swirling Saucers, so went on a speed read/deleting frenzy so am now down to 109. On a separate note, the Lady K now wishes to visit the Original park in CA, so pricing this up for Easter next year.

It takes guts to face those winds.
I get wind guts after a particularly big steak, but that's for another time.
and now is PA.
He moved to Pennsylvania? He's turned Passive Aggressive? He types for a living? Need a translation on that one my friend.
Not sure how long they’ll be without power so they may lose some frozen food. But considering what the Bahamas went through, they are considering themselves lucky.
Sure thing. Looking at the devastation that the Bahamas is, I can't see how that lives toll won't be in the thousands. Hopefully not.
Just up the bourbon intake until the Bears' score is blurry enough for you to think they won. :lmao:
OK. This is gonna be a fun season then......
Rained here all day and still raining. Saint John and Moncton areas have had some damage and power outages. Halifax and that part of NS seems to have lots of damage. I watched a video of the winds blowing a construction crane off the top of a high rise being built, scary stuff. Lots of footage of the area around the harbour being under water.
Ye-owch. Best to our commonwealth Brethren.
Anyway, I started with a modified training from the Jeff Galloway guide that’s free on runDisney.
There's also a Couch to 5k app thats pretty good.

Have a great Sunday chaps. Hopefully I'll see some of you on the Mikeys FB page for the games later.

I was just telling the wife that New Brunswick leads the world in dirigible based technology ...
You’re incorrigible.
77° F with a nice breeze.
Nice! Hot. :)
Managed to get my first 10K training run in this morning
Impressive. I did over 400K yesterday though. Drove... but still.
I was disappointed Serena lost.
I wasn’t.
I'm never disappointed when Serena loses, she has to be one of the worst sports in tennis.
Agreed.

Work done in time for USA vs Mexico friendly.

runDisney was my motivation too! But I wouldn’t worry so much about weight loss to start training for a run. Definitely take care of your knees first and let their health be your guide. If your doctor signs off on the knees, there is no reason you can’t start running today.

Right before I started running, I had the same idea—only once I lost some weight, then I can start running. That was my idea until I read about a guy who started 5K training when he was 5’6” and 320 lbs. Then I changed my mind and decided to just start running and not wait for the weight loss first. When I started my training I was at 267 lbs (I’m 6 foot). I’m still at 237 lbs, classified as a “heavy runner” because I’m not a pixie, but even at my current weight, my body can handle it. And in my races, I’ve been passed by people shorter and way heavier than me. So overall weight being a limitation to running is highly overrated.

Anyway, I started with a modified training from the Jeff Galloway guide that’s free on runDisney. And I mistakenly thought I had to run a 5K distance first before signing up for runDisney. Until a coworker told me it was 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile of running before stopping for a character photo, catching your breath, and repeating that format. Definitely not a race for getting a personal record! 😂

I’ve done two live 5K races here at home, with 3 more through the end of the year. I did the virtual runDisney this summer. Our 2020 WDW trip won’t line up with any runDisney events, but I’m really hoping to do runDisney in person in 2021.

Both my knees are injured (torn meniscus in each) with visible sacs of fluid on the front. I play tennis and pickleball because it's short spurts of running. Not sure I'm ready to try them on a sustained run.

I'm never disappointed when Serena loses, she has to be one of the worst sports in tennis.

Really? Serena is the greatest female tennis player ever. I think the cheaters are way worse. Maria Sharapova took life saving heart medication since she was 15 in order to play professional tennis. Or, was it really just a banned PED. But, she's white, blond, overly grunts, and was paid more in endorsements than Serena for years. Ozaka's coach was coaching her during last year's final, and she didn't get a player warning. I'd play with a chip on my shoulder too.

Then, you leave tennis for the NFL Spygate cheaters, baseball PED cheaters, etc. Serena is drug tested more often than other female players. I'd rather watch someone competing and trying to deal with their emotions than intentionally cheat, smile, and still win championships or make the HoF.

Physician's Assistant. There's also NP - Nurse Practitioner. Both are different levels of licensure that can see patients, bill insurance, prescribe certain meds, and have to work under the supervision of a physician. It isn't as many years in school. Apparently, with his opioid addiction, he lost his medical license, but was able to re-obtain that level. He may not be able to prescribe narcotics. It is another example of the overly qualified/ expensive American medicine system.

She threatened a line judge, hardly ever gives credit to other players when they beat her and has conveniently had injuries when she loses or is about to lose. And let's not forget she is the only woman to give birth and go back to work.

There is no doubt that she is one of the greatest players ever but she is also once of the worst in terms of sportsmanship that has ever played and that has nothing to do with the colour of her skin.

Case in point.

In Serena's press conference: 3:07 'I honestly didn't play my best today, I could have played better'... 3:46 'I love Bianca I think she's a great girl, but I think this is the worst match I've played all tournament'

I agree with you that she has a bad attitude and does not practice good sportsmanship. It is just not like the other premeditated cheaters, which I think is far worse.

Compare Nadal’s Wimbledon loss comments to Serena’s comments today and there is no question in my mind where Serena lists on the bad attitude charts. Too bad too because she’s a great player, just not a classy one

Morning Gents.

Start of the one of the best weeks of the year here, Harvest Jazz and Blues kicks off tomorrow. Always an amazing festival, lots of great acts and venue plus the atmosphere in the downtown is awesome. DW and I get our annual free night on Friday as part of a corporate event, taking in David Wilcox for that one. On Saturday I'm volunteering in the main tent for about 12 hours, headliner in that one is Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. Lots of free shows to take in as well.

Have a good one all!

Well, that was fun.
DW: "I want a pool."
Me: "It costs a fortune, you'll get bored of it, it doesn't improve your home's value."
DW: "I want a pool."
Me: "It's $80,000."
DW: "I want a pool."
Me: "If we do, I am not doing the maintenance."

So we have a pool. I do all the maintenance. And yesterday it took me over 10 hours to winterize it. I ache in places I didn't know I could ache.

Ah, the Return To Work Delete-Fest. A tradition unlike any other.

Good to see you planning the next trip. Always good to have something to look forward to.

Hopefully I'll see some of you on the Mikeys FB page for the games later.

I forgot to check in there. Not in mid-season form yet, I guess. Sort of like the Browns.

Well that escalated quickly. Booked into the Grand Californian DVC for Easter. :scared1:

Awesome! Probably nobody there over Easter break.

:rotfl2: Hey, you need something to tell your therapist.

Cool Darcy! Hope you and the missus have a lot of fun!

I presume that conversation was a while ago, not recently? Kinda like a kid with an animal? I'll take care of it, I promise.

Sorry man...you didn't want to give her a pool boy also? ;)

Compare McEnroe to Serena. Yes, it was a different era in the sport. McEnroe was way worse, still is when he is playing, from what I hear. However, McEnroe is praised and Serena vilified.

I hate it that she has a bad attitude. I think sportsmanship is just more than attitude and your statements to the press.

Good get. DW and I are planning on staying at the Grand Floridean in WDW next September for our 20th anniversary. I'm hoping we can get the Grand Californian for our 25th anniversary.

Well, that was fun.

I want a hot tub. You available?

:rotfl2: Hey, you need something to tell your therapist.

A great idea. Spend more money for the therapist to tell you your wife is always right. :lmao:

Afternoon Gents! Some bad football this weekend, the Cubs are just killing me. They weather was great though, cooked multiple meals on the grill, enjoyed family time and DS was home for a few days and these are all more important than sports results. Speaking of escalating fast, nice tennis conversation :rolleyes1

Today is 180 day mark for me and DS spring / SWGE trip.
Got Oga's Cantina 4 time
Savi's workshop to build a lightsaber
Dinner at The Edison and 50's Primtime
Looking to do EPCOT Forever dining at Rose & Crown as well as Space 220 one night but those are not available at the 180 day mark - someday Dining and Desert packages will be at 180 so you only have to book once

Have a couple of days of travel for some offsite meeting noise but will be in Chattanooga where DS goes to school. So he will get to eat well on Friday and hang with his 'ole man for a day. Have a good week gents!
