Is anyone familiar with the workings of the ankle? I haven't done a thing to it but have a pain. It made itself known earlier today once and then stopped. Ran at the gym after work for 30 min without issue but it now has a kind of stabbing pain by the knob on the side. Ice didn't make it stop. From my googling what it seems to be it shouldn't because what I read said it's hard to hurt and is most often done with an ankle sprain. No problems walking, standing, no swelling.

Grocery carts are the worst. I seem to either get sick from not wiping a cart or hand basket with a wipe or from some not nice word coughing and not covering their mouth. If there aren't wipes and I don't have a wet one with me I will skip the cart/basket if I can. Lady in the restroom at SFO last Sept coughed without covering her mouth and you could tell she was sick. I knew she'd gotten me and did, so annoying.

Also didn't know until last year that long distance running may weaken your immune system, which I believe because when I started doing half's I'd get sick more than once a year which had been my norm. All the more reason to not do them :) Though I am getting an itch for it but haven't found one worthy of breaking down and doing it.
The “knob” on the outside of the ankle(side of your pinky toe) is your lateral malleolus. Possilbities might include sprain, tendinitis, or stress fracture.
Does anything hurt to the touch? Or is it a deep ache? Does the knob” hurt if you tap on it?

Replying to myself to add this gem I took in March 2018 to send to a friend who couldn't believe I did this :thumbsup2

I do this too!! DH laughs at me for it, but the remotes are sooo yucky. On a recent trip I wiped our remote with a Clorox wipe just before putting it into the ziploc bag just so he could see why I do it. That wipe was so filthy and black. He doesn't laugh at me as much now. :crazy2:

@Haley R my family could care less about credit cards but I laughed out loud at your kitty picture and then they of course had to see and hear what you are doing. Our family of 5 is following your adventure! If I were you I would just go to Epcot. Pay to park and then go to the guest services to the right of the Epcot gates. It is a little hidden and usually not too busy. I have had the best luck there over the years with upgrades/activation etc. They will reimburse your parking.

@DisneyMandC I also laughed at your picture...I did not want to tell the girls about you as they would be jealous of your animals. My oldest has been unwavering in her want to be a vet half her life and all 3 (plus DH) want more animals than just the two kitties we have right now.

@Oscar Madison I have even bought Christmas party tickets for a friend before on the AP discount. I just had to add/connect them to my MDE. It should not be a problem.

@SouthFayetteFan you have a million UR’s. Seriously. It is fine. Get more than just two rooms. You guys should go club level and also spread out!

@tink1970 have a wonderful time on your trip! We will all miss your insights but will be anxious to hear all about it.
Thanks I think we will do that. We have a lot of time to go back to mk and ride things and we could just wait until we do the dah.

Doesn't hurt to touch it. Knob doesn't hurt. It feels like the pain goes around the knob on the heel side, not quite under the knob. It's stopped now but it stopped earlier and came back. It's just so odd. I wear flats for work and I started a new temp job Mon, but when I'm home I wear my addidas slides most of the time and generally only wear support in my running shoes. I do sometimes wear my vionic flip flops around the house and have been for a few days or so cause the PF on my right food is acting up, fun when it's always been the left but I think it's more my calf that's tight. I should be able to get it to go away since I have before on the other foot. My feet are just a mess right now :)

Welcome back!

Just popping in to check on things...still in churning purgatory while we are in our option period so I'm trying to stay away from tempting signup offers. However, I can't resist commenting on cat pictures :D On the bright side, if we go through with this home purchase we will be able to meet LOTS of MSRs as we repair everything!

We’ve finally had some time to settle in a bit and made a frozen pizza (that they left in their freezer lol). So it almost feels like we bought a partially furnished house. They left so many cool decorations and even a whole patio set! All of the shower curtains were left, all of the bathroom accessories, they left the freezer full of unopened snacks, large area rugs, lamps. They had asked us if they could leave some decorations and we said yes but they left so much! We love it because now the walls aren’t bare. I’ll attach some picture so you can see some of it. The dining room furniture, kitchen table, bar stools, and living set we knew they were going to leave.

Can someone explain why after meeting MSR, the cc company may refuse to give the bonus as promised? I see that a few on the boards (@elgerber) have mentioned that this has happened to them but cannot find the reason why. Just want to know if we should avoid doing something that may cause this. Thanks.
This doesn't happen very often and I'm not sure I've ever seen it happen with any bank other than Amex. I'm not sure what is going on with @elgerber's Delta bonus but it appears that Amex has some trouble keeping track of what has been spent. Obviously this is concerning if you are chasing Amex card bonuses but I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about.

That is awesome! What a blessing for y'all as you start your new life!

Kind of a poll for you all as my dh is filling out travel stuff for his job. If you could choose any hotel chain to earn points from (where work was paying), which would you choose?

Could somebody else second this comment. I notice nobody else chimed in and I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking any details that might matter to people.

(Probably something related to trip insurance and rental car coverage which I don’t pay attention to) 🤣

On my most recent trip at the beginning of this month, I rented a car and put down my CSR for the credit card payment and waived CDW. On earlier trips this year, I "gambled" and paid for rental cars with DH's Arrival+, and luckily nothing happened and I was able to erase those rental charges and get them for free. But even though I was working on a couple of other MSRs, I decided to use my CSR for this car rental. Well, it got hit while it was in the hotel registration parking area when we left it with the valet - another hotel guest pulled into the area and scraped the left rear of my rental car. Clearly that driver is at fault, the hotel has a recording of what happened, and I was already in the hotel lobby checking in when it happened. I'm still waiting to hear from the car rental company how it's all going to shake out, but count myself so fortunate that I used my CSR for the rental as added coverage and peace of mind. I hope it doesn't come down to me filing a claim with my CSR, but since it has primary coverage on rental cars and is a keeper card for me I will use it for all future rentals.

Plastiq HELOC towards my AA MSR was a success! Here's my complete process:
  • 6/8 - $500 Payment Initiated to HELOC (paid $12.50 fee @ 2.5%) - Payment to arrive by 6/18
  • 6/8 - Setup auto-transfer of HELOC to checking for 6/13 (extra cushion in case payment arrived early)
  • 6/13 - $500 transfer occurs
  • 6/14 - Plastiq email says payment was sent
  • 6/18 - Plastiq email says bank cashed my check
  • 6/19 - Payment posts with my bank
  • 6/19 - I made payment of $0.32 for the interest ($0.08 per day for 4 days)
  • So in total I paid $12.82 to meet $500 of my MSR. Not a bad deal at all!
  • AND I'll save money on the next payment since I did the 2 player Plastiq referral and my wife now has $500 FFDs and I have $1,000 FFDs :D
  • To cap it all off, I'll pay the credit card bill from the account where the money was deposited.
Since my bank is my employer and is a fairly large regional bank I will not be cutting it too close with my transfer and payment. I know @bernina actually had a check show up before making the advance. My concern is that if this occurred it could be flagged as something odd and I don't want to get my HELOC shutdown or have my employer ask questions on what I'm doing. Even if I did the full $5,000 and it sat there for a week I'd only pay $5 in interest :D

EDIT: If you're trying to figure out your potential interest exposure do this:
1) Take your interest rate (let's say 6%)
2) Divide that by 365 (so 0.06 / 365 = 0.000164)
3) Multiply that number by the amount you're processing (let's say $1,000)
4) Multiply that number by the number of days you think the balance will sit there (let's say 5)
5) So in summary = 0.000164 x $1,000 = $0.16 per day x 5 days = $0.80
With a 6% Interest Rate it costs you $0.16 per day in interest for $1,000 and so 5 days would cost $0.80
Basically what I'm saying is the interest cost is inconsequential here so don't cut it too close!

Actually, @Lain has a good point about the CSP support points. Since they're personal cards, I think if your DH PCs to CF or CFU, he wouldn't be able to PC to a CSP until after a year (somebody correct me if that's wrong). So, if you think you'll go for a CSP within a year, might be worth paying the $95 AF to get the additional 15k support URs.
The PC to a higher fee card is only blocked on the first year of an account. After that you can go up or down at will (well I guess at Chase's will) and don't need to hold it for any specific length of time.

Finally catching up on today’s chatter.
I have a Marriott question: We are planning on Aruba in March, staying 5 nights at the Marriott Stellaris. It looks like it is 50K points /night, 5th night free. But...if I want to apply my 50K FN certificate, the 5th night free disappears. It still costs 200K points . Anyway to use the FN certificate and still get the 5th night free?
Otherwise I guess I’ll use it for a 35k night somewhere else.
Not that I'm aware of, to get the 5th night it has to be all points. Could try calling but I think they'll just go by the system.
