I've been surprised that they do not give Good Friday here but I guess then they would need to give days off for other religions. AFAIK, our public schools give no religious holidays off, including the Jewish holidays. My dh even works for a Christian organization and they don't even close on Good Friday o_O That's just weird!

Our school system recognizes other religions, and takes into consideration some of their practices. They used to give off on Rosh Hashanah but had to cease when the labor day issue started due to the tight schedule.

That is a really great benefit! Never ordered from zappos but maybe I will now since the price is the same.

Zappos was incredible when I ordered using their, 'we'll get it to you in time for Xmas' deal a couple years back. I ordered a marc Jacobs handbag for daughter and it didn't come on xmas eve as promised so I called them Xmas eve. The purse was delivered on the 26th but I got compensated very well, more than half the cost of the handbag in store credit.

Check your Amex offers---I have $20/$100 Zappos on one of my cards.
dang, I sure don't have that only any of our 78 cards.

I do have this boxed amex deal though and I never use it. For gift cards all I see is pf chang and a burger place we dont have. What have ya'll used the deal for? I checked cat litter and it seems high compared to sams club.

I have the boxed offer too (no zappos either). I was gonna order some of their brand items. I haven't checked the price yet but in the past those items were reasonable and everything we have used, we have liked (tp, trash bags, tissues, etc).

Also, code THRILL10 takes $10 off $90. Has to be used today!

Where do you see PF Chang’s GCs? We can always use more of those.

Do you know how those items compare to Costco prices? I always mean to check that but forget...

I haven't checked recently, and since my dd16 works at Target, I've been buying more there with her discount, even though I still may be paying more than Costco for kirkland products. Sometimes the convenience of just having her grab TP and bring it home is worth it :)

I shop sams and Costco, but was just comparing to sams and some stuff is about the same, other stuff a bit higher. I checked some snack items, TP, cat litter...
I just usually order sams online instead of Costco because of the portals.

When we made a claim with trip insurance and had paid for flights with points, the insurance paid the fee to redeposit miles, which I think was around $150.

Who did you use for trip insurance? I need to buy it for September and want to make sure our SW flights booked on points can get refunded.

Mild good news for the Delta hostages.

I don’t know if anyone recalls but our WDW trip last month started really rough. I talked about what happened when we got to Disney, but before that our Delta flight was delayed and we had been separated into 3 and 2 instead of all together on one row. When I tried to talk to them before we even left they said there was nothing they could do but they would make a note. When we got there of course the flight was full and nothing they could do. It was especially frustrating because the only way to book 5 tickets and use the companion certificate is to have it as two separate reservations...and if they are going to treat us like basic economy and seat us wherever without a picked seat I would just assume pay for the basic instead of main. At any rate we were separated for both flights there and home, and then when we arrived in MCO we had a baggage issue (special item we had to retrieve that Delta was pretty rude about). So I usually would not bother but my husband was annoyed enough by the whole thing “put this in your complaint too” I thought I had better. I was also encouraged by I think @tink1970 and @Calfan saying they had complained about Delta and eventually heard back. At any rate yesterday I got an email from them (or at least DH did because I did the complaint in his name since it was his baggage issue). 10,000 miles deposited in his account and then a choice with their Delta Choice gift code for a value of $100 for each one of us. We will probably do Amazon so $500 with Amazon is pretty good. Good enough that I told the girls they could pick something out from there (up to $20). They did not buy the tickets but I figured they could get something for their pain and suffering. Plus you know mom guilt.

Maybe it was the part where I said that maybe I should just book Southwest in the future so at least I know my family will be somewhat close to each other. That was mostly an empty threat as Southwest is so bad for direct flights but I figured throwing it in would not hurt. :)

Glad you received some compensation! We fly usually fly Delta and any time we have had issues and I complained, we have received some type of compensation. We had major issues coming home from Hawaii a few years back and we got $400 in Macy's GCs (no Amazon at the time). I love my Dyson vacuum cleaner that I bought with the GCs!!

VA has the same dumb law which only applies to the large school districts. But SOLs have to be taken in May as do high school IB exams (not sure about AP). Puts our students at a major disadvantage and the last several weeks are wasted. As a parent, though, I like it because I generally like to vacation the week before Labor Day.
We are in Virginia also, except we start back at the beginning of August. Last three school days are early release and a total waste. Plus they took away a bunch of days off. After the sols they do nothing but watch movies.

I don't buy TP or Paper towels at Costco. I buy them at both Target and CVS using their deals and gift cards. Usually I beat Costco prices and I stock up for about 6-12 months at a time. Plus I try to get them delivered as they are big and bulky for trying to drag home.

OK so I haven't posted much since we got back from our kidless trip. Came home to lots of work and kids sick with a plague (ok, a cold. But a really really bad one. and now me and DH have it ).

In trip news:
It was our first time staying at BWV and OMG I loved it. I loved the smell and the close proximity to Epcot, DHS, and Jellyrolls. Jellyrolls was sort of 'meh' this time which was sad because I was so looking forward to it. It can be so different one visit to the next! They did a BOATLOAD of Billy Joel and other older songs that I don't know so well :duck:(I'm only 30--don't judge!). Plus we got there around 8PM on a Friday which I thought would be enough time to get a table on the floor but, alas, only barstools were left scattered around. Despite that I still managed to :drinking1 a tiny bit more than I should have which made for a rough night....and I learned a lessen in over consumption which should last a good ten years if my prior track record is any indicator. We did a split stay at BLT and had an awesome lake view even though we booked a standard so that was nice. Walking to and from MK is SOOOO nice. DVC continues to spoil me and every adults only trip officially must include split stays at a BLT and either BWV or BCV.
We paid for the After Hours and MK and it was a ton of fun although they really need to work on their admission process. They had maybe 4 lanes of touchpoints open to scan in but then from there you had to funnel directly into a sort of unidentifiable mystery line to get bracelets which they didn't initially have for anyone at 7:10PM. We were in line for like 25 minutes in a gaggle of people all waiting for a mere 2-3 cast members to apply special event bracelets while there was a good 4-5 cast members standing behind them not helping put bracelets on at all and laughing and joking with each other while the mood in the line was getting rather cranky. Definitely a frustrating start to an even that you paid $100 bucks PP for. After that though it was nice and I am glad we did it. And as far as our first 1st class experience.....that was pretty fun. We all kept giggling because we are *not* fancy and had no idea what to expec so things like the hot towel before the meal had my husband whispering to me 'What is this for?' . It was fun but I doubt I would splurge the points for 1st again. I am almost always going to choose quantity over quality when it comes to my flights (within reason. I'm not flying Spirit here). Maybe if I get on the GrAAvy train and I am rolling in points though. Haha!

Card related:
After executing my last plan I have been unsure where to go next for the last few weeks because we will both be 4/24 I want to make good use of those last spots. Once we get over I plan to go hog wild but the idea of being 4/24 gives me agita. My main goal is replenishing UR's while we can

Me (5/24 until 4/1 I believe):
3/17 Target Card (I'll insert my own eye roll here:rolleyes2)
12/17 CSR
3/18 SPG Biz
5/4 CIP
7/18 Marriott Biz
7/18 Aviator Biz
8/18 Ameriprise Plat
10/18 Amex Gold
11/18 Cap1 Savor
11/18 Amex BBP
PLAN: In April apply for CIU....then what with my final 5/24 slot? I feel like it should be an UR earner on principal but I already have the CSR and the CF.

DH (4/24):
12/17 CSR AU
12/17 Google CC (he went rogue on this one:sad2:)
3/18 SPG Biz
5/18 CIC
8/18 Aviator Biz
10/18 SW Biz
11/18 SW +
11/18 Amex BCE
2/19 Amex BBP
PLAN: apply for CIP (referral from me), apply for CSP with final 5/24 spot (is it worth downgrading to get the extra 10k referral? I paid my AF 12/9)

Wow. Looks really intense when I type it out. Hahaha. Thoughts anyone?

REMINDER: DISchurners support thread refresh announcement
It is that time once again...the support threads on DISchurners need to be refreshed (this occurs every 6 months).

The easiest way to do this is:
1) Go to your OLD comment in the OLD thread
2) Click EDIT
3) COPY the entire comment text in the edit box
4) PASTE the comment text as a NEW comment in the NEW thread
5) CHECK all links to make sure they are active and working
You do NOT need to delete your old comment when done, you can just leave it in that thread.

This process will help you not have to re-do all your formatting. Side note: It is best to access DISchurners in old reddit.

On Friday I will remove the old threads with only the new threads remaining.
