Riviera Available on WDW Site

Looking at the floor plan of those tower studios, it's hard to figure out where the kitchenette would be...unless the taller cabinet to the left of the bed will have a small microwave/fridge in there?

That is what the WDWNT article said.

Interesting, but if there is a kitchenette it is without a sink based on the floorplan. I suppose it could be where the TV is located. Or in the cabinet to the right of the bed/couch. Or it is possible this is just an error on programming for the website. I would hope that a coffeemaker would be included.

Is there really a need for a sink in a kitchenette? I mean it's not like anyone is washing dishes. The bathroom has a sink which would be adequate for most needs I would think.

But it’s not about theming “Disney.” The theme is the luxury of the French Riviera. I think they are capturing that opulence quite well. The architecture is correct. Theming is not about sticking Mickey on something, it’s about capturing the essence of that which they hope to evoke. Seems they’ve done that. I’ve been to the Riviera and this is a good interpretation.

If this is Europe, it is not the one where I have lived and traveled, nor is it the one that Walt Disney fell in love with. This is the sanitized Europe that global elitists enjoy today, and a banal rendition at that. No thanks. I'll just stay at the Waldorf where the price and service are far superior.

I'm totally fine with having more modern, clean and generic rooms as long as the common areas and exterior are highly themed (i.e. CCV). In this case, the rooms, lobby, and exterior are all very run of the mill.

Of course it’s a sanitized version of Europe! This is Disney World. Everything is fake and sanitized! Port Orleans French Quarter is certainly not a true depiction of New Orleans. Same applies here.

Sanitized in as in they have erased Europe. Port Orleans does a great job of capturing the essence of NOLA and Louisiana.

Found the details of the kitchenette on the Overview section on the member website:

NEW! Tower Studios

Specially designed for 2 Guests, these one-of-a-kind Tower Studios are a marvel of efficiency and luxury—and are unique to Disney's Riviera Resort. Built into the wall, you'll find a kitchenette, drawers and a cleverly hidden pull-down queen-size bed that just as easily tucks away to reveal a comfortable lounge-worthy space.

I am pretty surprised to see these photos that show a very uninspiring resort. What a missed opportunity. This is a huge fail for Disney decision makers. This will be a hard sell for them.
Actually, I think it looks kind of nice and elegant. I can see that they're trying to bring the simple Elegance of the Grand Floridian indoors. How nice would it really be? We will just have to wait and see when it is finally built. Pictures help but are not enough. I wonder if they're going to have Point costs higher than for similar rooms at the Grand Floridian? It would surprise me, but they may be shooting for that. Is the theming Disney? Maybe not enough Disney. However as close as this will be to Epcot and Hollywood Studios by gondola, perhaps they will depend on the Disney atmosphere from those places to creep over a bit, so they don't ostensibly have to put as much Disney atmosphere in the resort itself.

I agree that it is probably nice enough, but I still think it falls far short of what it could have been.

The tower studio looks tiny. Where would one even put their luggage? Or eat a meal? I will be curious to see real photos and videos of this when it becomes available to book. As for the murphy beds, I LOVE this. We stayed in POP for a night right when they renovated and the murphy bed had the exact same mattress as the regular bed. This is a great option for families like ours who like the studios and one bedrooms but have more than two adults and a sleeper sofa isn't comfortable for a week long trip. It won't convince me to stay (let alone buy) there since I am a sucker for resorts that immerse you in their theme but I do hope the murphy beds make their way into existing resorts soon.

Does the Tower Studio even have a kitchenette? I cant make one out in the drawing.

It's listed on the site so I think people are assuming its in the cabinet to the left of the couch. Maybe a fridge and microwave at best. Definitely don't see another sink. I guess Pizza on the couch would work but room service might be tough.

For some reason nobody ever likes the previews of new resorts, be it artwork or photos. CCV's preliminary photos took quite a bashing until people had a chance to actually stay there and now the most frequent complaint about CCV is that there aren't any rooms available to book. I'm going to wait until some actual guests at Riviera post some actual reviews before getting myself all worked up about themeing and what not. Though IMHO, Riviera looks much nicer than BCV and BWV so I could see this becoming my go-to Epcot area resort if looks anything close to the photos in real life.

I do have to say that the rendering of the pool is disappointing. Hopefully the image is leaving some stuff out because what is pictured there looks little different than the CBR pool.

I see a slide but I'm hoping there is zero depth entry, some sort of splash pad/play structure, and a little kiddie water slide would be wonderful too.

We absolutely love the SSR pool, I'm hoping this would be similar.

I see all of these on the rendering on the first page of this post. I think the pool area looks pretty great. Again it looks like every non-Disney "high end" hotel in Orlando, but it looks nice.

I think that's the idea, especially based on these prices. Some people will want that others wont.

Oh THAT'S what that is on the right. I thought that little pavilion was a bar. Now that you blew the picture up I can see it much better. Hopefully it is a little larger than it looks in the picture but otherwise I'm happy with it.

I think it looks nice, but not particularly European to me. I haven't checked the cash prices. Others are saying they are high, but I wouldn't be able to pay cash prices for any of the DVC resorts.
