I love credit cards so much!

i recall ppl saying 14 days is enough but i’d wait a month just in case.
Not sure that's an option with this offer, it says it expires a month from today. Not sure what to tell him now, I'd have to have him close a card, and then not be able to get another.

are we talking about the CP offer? sorry, on mobile.

That is so interesting! It's pretty much my goal with my teens to get their credit 'groomed' for cards as soon as possible. It's working nicely with dd18 so far. I waited about 6 mos between the Discover and the CFU app. I plan to give it 4-5 mos and then hit up Chase again for her. I would never have thought to go for a CIP though!
My first reaction was “psh! What sort of “business” does your kid have?” And then I realized at that age I had any number of side hustles going on from tutoring to gardening to babysitting!

A few days ago I ordered tickets for DW. I ordered 2 tickets on my Barclay Arrival + and 1 ticket on DH's Arrival + so I could deduct those charges. They were pending the other day and now when I go to look they are not there at all. Is this a common issue or is there something else going on?

Does it matter how far apart between Chase business and personal card applications are? I just applied and got approved for the SW Biz card a few days ago. Looking to get the SW Plus 50k offer through the in flight links on reddit in order to get CP. Can I apply now or should I wait 30 days? CP isn't necessarily urgent - just figured it'd be useful for a trip in November. Also figured I should get it in before those links possibly get shut down (not sure if that will happen, but I figured better to be safe)

Common. I bought GC at Sams on Wed. They were pending immediately, completely gone yesterday and now are in my balance.

Uhhh, I am in the wrong business. Was just looking at nursing positions available and trying to psych myself up to apply to torture myself with 12 hour night shifts and holidays. Maybe I just need to flaunt my experience with newborns and pediatrics and pick up some babysitting gigs. :teacher:
Seriously! It is just amazing how much she makes. She currently works at CFA but doesn't make near as much there as she does babysitting. She needs to get her CNA for nursing school and start working as a CNA but that will be a paycut too lol!

How long should you wait after you close to reapply?

Thank you, that was my next question.

So I don't have first hand experience because the increased SW offers never materialized after I closed mine, but most people say if you're going for the same card to wait 30 days so they don't reactivate the old account. But I've seen DP's of people doing it in less time. However, you want to give it a few days so that the system recognizes it's closed and doesn't try to deny you for holding the card already. So for going for a different card (or even trying the same one) I think a week is probably good.

So I'm WELL outside Chase's 5/24. I don't go under 5/24 until Nov of this year. I already have a Slate card, but in the mail I just got an offer for a Slate card. Now I've read before if you are targeted (aka sent an offer) that means Chase will likely approve you even if you are outside 5/24. The reason I'm asking is, I was going to PC the Slate to a CF or CFU. I wasn't going to try an apply for either as obv I'm outside 5/24. So why did Chase send me a Slate offer?
What’s a slate card??? Haha.
(No signup bonus = card is dead to me! LOL)

parents must help!!! :D

not to mention 110k instead of 30k!

plenty of points to visit parents! lol
LOL, I am meeting my own spends, and unemployed, can't help much right now. He wouldn't be comfortable with the Biz, he has never sold anything, anywhere, so has nothing he could go on.
LOL on the points to visit parents, he lives 3 miles away.

@Calfan , @FloridaNative8 and anyone else I've forgotten (? @afan ) GOOD luck this weekend!:rainbow:

Not me, currently wandering Target with some hot chocolate :D I can run here in the cold so I like to go to WDW when it's warmer. W&D is about as late as I'll go and princess themes don't interest me. I have an 8k Feb 2, the tunnel to viaduct and it'll be the only time it's ran. It's to mark the closing of our viaduct and celebrate the new tunnel that won't really help traffic.

Come to Boston!! My nursing salary would never even compare to babysitting AND lots of good hockey!!!!

Quoting myself. These are his stats, think he would be ok to do this?
3/24 from what I see...
10/18 Delta Amex
9/18 Target
4/16 Chase this is his other SW Visa, which I now see he would need to close
4/11 Citi
6/16 Chase IHG
5/17 Chase Disney
9/07 Amex, this is my card, put him on as AU back then to build credit, haven't pulled him off because it's his oldest line
5/09 Chase, also mine, done for the same reason (and they used it to pick things up for me at the store when I needed stuff LOL)
7/14 Kohls

He is a car loan with 10 months left and a mortgage in August.
I would have him reduce lines on the remaining Chase cards, and maybe his AMEX once I do some Math.

So, do you think he would be good, and how long does he have to wait to apply after closing and reducing the lines?

Obviously it's a time crunch issue since it's only good till 2/11/19.

Thanks!!

It seems doable. You have 4 weeks so it'll be tight but if he's really interested could probably make it happen.

But just realize the consequence is he'd basically be locked out from CP all of 2020 since he couldn't get another personal card to make the points. It wouldn't be until 2021 some time before he could gear up for another.
