Resort Parking Fees to be enforced

We fly in and stay at POFQ and use Disney Transportation - Last time we were on the bus to a park and started chatting with another couple. They drove in from a surrounding town, parked at FQ and used already overcrowded Disney bus to go to a park so they don't have to pay to park at the park. They also bragged that they often used the pools at the resorts. I don't know how they do it, but it explains why WDW wants to institute parking fees.

How does this explain why Disney wants to charge parking fees? These people won’t incur a parking fee. Only the people actually staying at the resort get charged a parking fee.

Correct. For past years was always the case.
But as previously mentioned by numberous cast members since I pay for parking at my resort I can park at other resorts to visit. And they also mentioned while I’m them for ADR I should enjoy the monorail to parks and walking to Epcot.
Again just stating personal experience.

I genuinely can’t remember, did you say you were staying at CBR? If so, you were paying less to park than the guests staying at the Beach Club. So hopefully you took a spot near the rear of the lot, leaving closer spaces for those staying at the resort (and paying more than you for parking).

In my experience, not all inconsistencies result from CMs who don't know, or are unwilling to enforce, the "rules." CMs are often given discretion in dealing with guest experiences based on crowd levels and such, and Disney is loathe to put its rules or policies in writing, at least in any great detail. Being the typical Type A uber-planner who populates these boards, it makes me crazy. It also leads guests to believe that their particular experiences, and what they've been told, will hold true for other guests, which is not necessarily the case.

I didn’t park at beach club.
I parked at boardwalk to visit and yacht club for ADR. Yes I did pay less for parking at CBR but I did pay to park is the point and point made by numerous cast members at all 3 resorts. Actually did park far away at yacht club. Had to walk a good distance. Hopefully that makes u feel good after ur remark above.

It was during food and wine. So probably wasn’t a slow time. Amazing people here know more then cast memebers.

Someone even reported on another site today that a CM would not let him park at AKL to eat lunch without an ADR.

This doesn't make any sense though....you could easily go to any resort to eat at the Quick Service restaurant or have a drink at the lounge such as Trader Sam's at the Poly - those don't take ADRs yet you wouldn't be expected to pay to park because you aren't staying at the resort. A simple scan of the your MagicBand if you are a resort guest would confirm that you aren't staying at the resort you are trying to park & dine at.

To be fair, employees don't always give correct information. For example, just today I had to deal with the fallout from several fellow employees who gave wildly incorrect info to a customer. It was wrong information that completely contradicted written policy (policy that I KNOW these employees had been trained on). No idea why they would just go rogue.

On the other hand, the customer couldn't be blamed for following what they were told. How were they to know the employees were wrong?

The upshot of it is, the NEXT time that customer comes in and attempts to do the same thing, thinking "no worries...they told me it was all good", I'M the one that will have to deal with the shock and potential angry tantrum when I inform the customer that NOPE. They may NOT do that. And frankly, i don't care how much they protest...I follow policy.

So, in summation, don't expect to be able to park at a resort that isn't yours and head to the parks just because you lucked into some clueless or lazy or pixie-dust sprinkling or discretion-stretching CM's and did it last time. You now know what the written policy is. Be prepared.

Yeah we just stayed 8 nights, and checked in at the desk too. They never asked if we drove or not. Never got charged.

Does anyone remember what the actual booking cut off date was to be exempt from the new the resort parking fee? For some reason I am thinking March 21st 2018?
I know I booked before that......I am bringing my original emailed confirmation receipt with me just in case.

Has this always been an issue, the turning away from the lots people without an ADR? I don’t think that’s ever happened to us but now I’m worrying a little. We’re staying at the Poly, booked before the parking fees. We might want to visit resorts to see some Christmas decorations. We’ll monorail to CR and GF. But I’m thinking WL? And my sister and her family are staying at CSR. What if we want to drive there to have QS lunch with them or vice versa?

It's enforced at monorail and Epcot resorts at busy times (resort is at capacity, conventions occupying overflow spaces, holidays and festivals). It is very much at the discretion of the CM at the gate. If you want to resort-hop to visit the monorail resorts, parking at the TTC and then taking the resort monorail might be a wise choice. You can take a boat from CR to WL if you want to pop over there as well. For the Epcot resorts, park at HS and take the boat or walk.

Unfortunately, people here do know more than some CMs. I was at Disney last week and heard a CM (I’m the F&W Festival Center) telling a guest all about the cup you get as a prize for the Remy Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt. I knew from these boards that they’d run out of the cups. Fortunately, another CM went over and corrected her. But yeah, it’s crazy sometimes what the CMs DON’T know.

Part of the problem is likely that 12,000+ front line CMs are Disney College Program interns, many who have never had a job. They do a couple days of training and then they are at work. Most are only there 5 months, so they simply are not invested. Many have not been to Disney World before, are there for a notch on their resume or to have fun. Depending on your location you may have different supervisors who may or may not make an effort to fully train them given their short tenure OR who have different processes or expectations.

We discuss all the time the inconsistency and that is going to happen when you have a large workforce of temporary or part-time workers. Disney is breaking ground to build a huge CP apartment complex in Flamingo Crossing. Either they plan to close a campus (likely it could be Vista Way) OR they plan to increase these temporary workers and phase out full-time workers who will be in line for wage increases.

Ugh. I agree

They can close Vista Way, but they can't take my memories. . . Summer 2000!:)

I don’t want to know what they are .... :scared:

DD lived there after Commons, not a happy camper especially since week one brought bed bugs and staff locking them out while at work with no offer of a place to stay.

Yep, Vista Way spring 97. I really think they want the college program to grow so more part time help because let's face it they make more money on CPs. I know the program has just expanded since 1997.
