Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

If my memory is correct CCV has some of the smallest studios as they are converted hotel rooms, I believe they are even slightly smaller than BCV. We stayed in one in April, and it would have been very tight with the bed pulled out. I don't think anyone can say anything about DVC interest yet, as CCV is not sold out so Disney still owns quite a bit of inventory at the resort, but it has been selling quite briskly.

CCV studios are converted WL hotel rooms so are on the small side.

However, we left the sofabed pulled out the entire time and still had plenty of room fro two adults, including for an ECV in the room.

This 3D view of the CCV studio rooms will give you an excellent idea of the space. The sofa footprint isn't longer than the area rug. https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=Zp7gtUdZMZy

I guess it is just up to each person's comfort level, I would have found it too tight if we had needed the sofa bed pulled out.

We just returned yesterday from a 5 day stay at Wilderness Lodge. We stayed in room 4024, which was a Nature View w/Bunk Beds (surprise upgrade!) and we could see all the MK fireworks because we were just high enough to not have trees block the view.

We stayed in room 4026 in Feb. 2017 and we could also see the fireworks, and even the castle if you looked closely. I really loved that room.

Did you use the sofa bed? Would there still be enough space in room with sofa pulled out? Wondering just in case! I’ve seen BCV and with pull out, there’s not much space left.
We were just two adults, so we did not use the sofa bed at all. Worked great for two adults.

Thanks! Guess I'll have to wait until next year. I'd like to make a room request, but I don't want to request something I can't have! :)

We stayed in room 6024 in 2016 which is now a nature/fireworks view. Picture is from the balcony (which is a dormer/closed in style). You can see the castle in the glow of the fireworks, loved the view...

Thanks. Good room video. Shows bed pulled out. But doesn’t have where they put the coffee table lol. Guess we’ll see where they put us when we arrive later this month. But want to be prepared for all eventualities!
Sad they took out ceiling fan. They seem to be making all the new rooms more “vanilla”. Nothing says Disney much aside from the framed patches.

Both the CCV studio and one bedroom are hard fours. Meaning no murphy bed for a fifth person and no bringing your own bedding for a fifth person (in the one bedroom, like BCV, BWV and SSR). If they had the room for the murphy bed, they would have added it. But the room is too small to add the murphy bed.

We have been planning our first trip to Disney world in December for some time. Booking a year out. We didn’t go last Christmas as wanted to stay at wilderness lodge and avoid the refurbishment.

It looks like from Humphrey’s post we will be affected by the recently announced refurbishment.

We were put off last time by the visual appearance of the main lodge area with all the screens up detracting from its beauty. Does anyone know if these are likely to be in place again in December?

Also we have booked a courtyard bunk bed room ( one of the main reasons along with the lobby) we chose the lodge. It looks like these are being removed. Does anyone know what will happen to our reservation now?

The bunk bed removal is particularly disappointing as we had an offer for club rooms that was only very slightly more that we didn’t take because we wanted each of our children to have a separate sleeping space. Had we known they would not be available we would have booked club level and taken advantage of the club level fast passes.
Time will tell, but I think you will be ok. If scrims are up during a room refurbishment, they won’t be nearly as severe as the ones during the Copper Creek conversion. In that case, half of the lobby was closed off. In the upcoming refurbishment, only one floor will be closed off and the scrims will be much just on one floor, and likely not blocking the lobby rooms.

The fact that you have reservations for a bunk bed room sounds good. I highly doubt Disney will not be able to give you the room you have reserved, so I would keep the reservation and look forward to getting the bunk beds. If they are to be removed, that would most likely occur after your stay.

Happy planning and I hope you get to have a great trip.
Yeah, I personally, would not agree to being switched to a CCV studio if at all possible if I were going to use the bed and sofa bed, it would be very tight.
I am sure the “upgrade” to a CCV room is optional. Some would love it, others not so much, and a lot of that is tied to whether you want a real second bed. It is interesting that some have gotten CCV rooms, but isn’t something I’d worry about if I didn’t want one.

We put the coffee table between the bed and the sofa bed, though there were other places it could have gone especially if we did not also have an ECV that neeed a home.

As we reported on our Facebook page (Humphrey's Unofficial Wilderness Lodge Pages), the Wilderness Lodge is about to go under a refurbishment. Follow our page for the latest.
Hmmm, this could be why we are struggling to find a room for one night (Thurs Oct 25th) during our split stay at Wilderness if they’ve taken the rooms out of inventory. We REALLY want to stay at the WL for thr first part of our trip but I’m having issues getting a compete reservation with that one evening and might have to go elsewhere.

That’s also a very popular time of year, it’s a small resort, and you’re less than 3 months out from the trip.

You are a little early, Dec 1, 2019 is 518 days from today. Currently, Nov. 12 is 499 days from today. You can book a room only reservation at the 499 day mark.

Dave

Actually now that 2019 packages are available one can book a package at 499 days out (as opposed to room only)...as long as it’s for 2019.

Thank you guys! Just a little update: we booked a nice long December 2019 trip! I feel a little silly because we just did a long December 2017 trip but...it makes me so happy! AND if the rumored room refurb is real...it's a dream come true! (I love the overall theme of the lodge but I also the villa's mod-ish, simple rooms and if that's coming to the regular rooms - wahoo!)

We are considering renting DVC points next summer to dip our toes into that pool (whole differnet post and questions). When booking at CCV, is there a way to request an aternate studio room? Is there way to request a specific view such as courtyard? The prices are flat so I am left to guess it is simply to chance. Is that correct?

If you rent points, a member is booking for you. When a member books at CCV, the booking categories are:
- deluxe studio
- deluxe studio with walk-in shower
- 1-bedroom villa
- 2-bedroom villa
- 2-bedroom lock-off villa
- 2-bedroom lock-off villa with walk-in shower
- 3-bedroom Grand Villa
- cabin

So you would need to know: are the alternate studios "deluxe studio" or "deluxe studio with walk-in shower" and make sure the correct category is booked for you.

After the reservation is made for you, you can ask the member to call DVC Member Services to put in a room request. However, I'm not sure DVC Member Services and the room assigners know what we mean by the term "alternate studio."

The "alternate studios" are rooms 2115, 3115, 4115, 5115, 6115, 7115, 1166 and 1168.

However, my understanding is that 7th floor rooms and some 6th floor rooms have enclosed balconies, so you can't see anything unless you are a tall-ish person standing up. You would want to get clarification on this because it may further narrow your desired options.

I am still learning about the views, but my understanding is that the CCV rooms face either the new Boulder Ridge Cove Pool or the Copper Creek Springs Pool. But I don't know which side the alternate studios face.

Yup, I know. We actually tried to book this months ago. We were over 6 months out, I was shocked we couldn’t get the three nights we needed. Still holding out hope and checking daily.

So, Let me start out by saying, we just got back from a Split stay between CCV & Poly... I do get it now......The place has such a homey feeling and it is a very relaxing resort for sure. The vibe here is similar to AKL but even more relaxing if that makes sense. We did eat pretty much every breakfast at RF. Which for the most part was very good. 1 day the GF waffles were a little undercooked (But Disney made up for that no problem) The pool at the main lodge was pretty nice, but the slide was kind of underwhelming, and sight lines were kind of blocked if sitting on one side...Not an issue for us, because our kids are older....Grounds are awesome, and although we didn't eat at GP it did look like a nice place to chill. The boat makes things convenient too. Buses for the most part were pretty efficient and a plenty...And never did we wait more than 10 mins. or so. The one thing that I do need to say is, that CCV is way to small for 5 though. What I mean by that is, we did encounter a snake in our bathroom the morning of our check out day....Needless to say that this woke me up a lot better than the coffee normally does...LoL I called front desk to have someone come down to remove it, but by this time it had made it's way out of the bathroom so I coaxed it towards the hall...I guess it's common for these snakes to be in Florida so maybe because we were on a ground floor or such it was just a lucky day for us.... We kinda had fun the rest of the week with the motto being, "There's a snake in my boots". LoL I guess TSL wasn't only meant for HS...:teeth:...But I will say again, I do understand why all of you love this place, and it only took me a day or so to realize this & I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again... Thanks for all the tips & insight prior to my trip everyone:thumbsup2.

I’m amazed by how calmly you seemed to handle this! This is the stuff of my nightmares lol. How do you think it got in there??? I guess I’ll have to request not to be on ground floors!:scared1:

Roughly 16 inches or so....Colorful though...Red, with black and white stripes.....I had to look it up on my phone:teacher: while I was trying to keep it from getting out of the bathroom...I didn't want my wife or kids to get freaked out...
