Yeah, that's Jersey week and it was busy. It wasn't holiday insane and imho was totally manageable with FastPasses and afternoon breaks from the parks but the parks did feel busy to me (I have VERY limited WDW experience). Lines at the booths at F&W weren't bad at all during the week, started getting busy Fri and we stayed away from Epcot over the weekend. The Christmas Party the Fri of Jersey week was PACKED (and not sold out), I will never do that again (the Xmas party I did in 2015 on a Tues at the mid Nov after Jersey Week was wonderful, timing matters). Fireworks in MK on normal nights were reportedly jam packed (by other guests accounts, I did not attempt one) to the point of misery so if that's important to you I would seriously consider some sort of dessert party.

I wonder if the Christmas party on the very first night - Thursday will be worse than on Friday (crowds)? I got tickets for Thursday, first party.

Sounds like I will just avoid that time frame. I'd rather pull them from school and avoid the crazy. Thanks. :)

Thanks so much to you all for the thoughts and hugs. It's definitely been rough, but I know it could have been so much worse so that keeps me going. Keep moving forward.....right??

Our little guy is healing up wonderfully well considering. The burns are on the back of both legs, his right arm and his hands. I won't post pics of the actual burns as the ones on his hands are pretty bad. I'm not sure exactly how to post pics here, but I'll try. Here's a pic of him at the ER once they gave him pain meds and he was able to calm down a bit and catch his breathe.

He's really blowing me away with how he's handling this, which is way better than I think I would be in his position. He was supposed to start his first year of summer camp on Monday, but obviously he wasn't able to go. We're not sure if he'll be able to go at all. Just have to keep going to follow-ups for a couple of weeks and his doc will let us know if he gets to a point where his hands are healed up enough that he might be able to attend a week or two. He hasn't fussed at all about not being able to go, even though I know he was really sad to find out. He's still smiling through it all, which is keeping a smile on this momma's face too!

I"m conflicted on which cards to use for what. Not working on a min spend currently, and I like racking up SPG points and think I'd like to explore Delta as an airline to fly to Europe next summer. However, part of me thinks I may change my mind on the airline, and I should use the card that gives me the most points for each category. For example,

Restaurants = CSR = URs
Groceries = AMEX ED Pref = 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar
Gas = CSR = URs
SPG Amex = other category

Is this the way I should go, using the above cards for those categories?

Looks solid to me, especially since MRs transfer to DL 1:1 if you do end going that route!

I love Southwest! This just happened to me too actually. I had 3 flights booked (one way booking) but only two seats were left at the lower price. Since I needed to change three seats, online showed zero difference in price cost. I had to call in and they needed to move one of my tickets to its own confirmation number and the other two seats were adjusted to the lower price and points refunded.

In the middle of a recent trip I decided to change my return day because I was enjoying myself so much. I was bracing for the worst because it was last minute and Southwest ended up giving me a partial refund because the return flight on the new day was cheaper. I could not believe it.

Hope the little guy keeps healing well. Sorry for all you're going through.

What is the email? I went to Lowe's Sunday and bought some plants, planters, dirt (no GC) and already have my 10% credit on my card (SPG Biz) showing up. Do they normally send an email as well?
I rarely get the email from Amex saying I used an offer but some seem to get them more often. I get an email maybe 20% of the time.

@mhartman09 i’m so very sorry for your loss and for all this stress you’ve been under. Is your ds doing ok now? Praying for healing for you all - physically and emotionally :hug:

I posted this on the regular budget board, but figured I’d post it here too...I’ve been reading up on things you can use Capital One points on. It seems you can’t use them to buy tickets from Disney, but you can from Undercover Tourist. Does anyone know if I can use them to offset a payment on a package I already have booked? I *think* you could on just the hotel, but not sure if you can on a package since it includes tickets. What other kinds of things can they be used on?

Even with 4% back on my Costco visa, Exxon is a decent amount cheaper for me with the 10% back, spg points plus 2% back from swagbucks. My Costco price is $2.629 and my Exxon price is $2.689.

Heads up for Chase double dippers:

I've seen two reports on /r/churning today of successful double dips followed by a call from Chase a few days later -- one report called it a "credit review." It seems the Chase rep in one of the reports asked why they applied for two cards, and in the other asked questions about income, income sources, and past use of credit. In both cases, the cardholders were allowed to keep both cards but had their credit lines on the cards lowered.

I made a spreadsheet because I love spreadsheets... Most places are similarly priced around me when it comes to gas, except Exxon. But after AMEX and the Speedpass App, it's less OOP unless I have 300+ fuel points to use. I will feel so much better not having to calculate this out in my head in the moment :rotfl: For me Kroger is most convenient, but I can make EM convenient... Costco is less so... and Maverick is some odd chain that DH likes. Way out of the way for me, but today I discovered it has a milkshake machine... :scratchin

You say that like you have a trench coat and hat on.
:rotfl2:

Ok, that really made me LOL!

And that really makes me nervous...

Back to an area with internet and trying to catch up here. Was 15 pages behind, now only 8. If you all can stop posting while I catch up, I’d appreciate it ;)

Enjoying the last day of our nearly free Grand Canyon/Flagstaff vacation. used miles for 3 RT ORD to FLG. We had free hotel 3 nights in Flagstaff (paid for one) at a brand New Hampton which is quite lovely. Night at Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and train tix RT to Canyon (used CSR travel credit x2 and paid $27 total) Used CSP for 2 nights in Canyon, all food and rental car so will be earning URs. (Also hope to use CSP rental car insurance as DH locked rental keys in trunk:sad2: and cost us $135 to get them out. Will try to get that covered)

Ugh...Colin from plastiq AGAIN...This is getting freaky with all the plastiq stuff lately. It's like he's personally looking at my account! Stop! Go away! I don't need your assistance or to talk to you about what I'm doing!!
