Do not disturb gone (BLT)

Hi All,
I posted this earlier but the thread doesn't seem to have stuck. I post it here just as an FYI.

Today the maid walked in on me while i was walking around the room in my skivvies...not that you need to know that but that is the conditions under which i found out that they have started a new policy. The "do not disturb" sign is now gone replaced with the one i have shown below.

Two managers told me they will enter each room, each day to check for maintenance and security issues. Plus, according to the text on the new sign they can also come into your room for any reason they choose (please see images below).

It is not a biggie. She did knock but not being aware they can now just walk in, i ignored it. Remember i thought the do not disturb sign was still on the door. Not her fault in any way.

Thanks rock_doctor for the photo of the new Room Occupied sign and your experience about entry into the room. The fine print is pretty specific.

That's an extreme we shouldn't have to resort to. Could also flag housekeeping to call security. A simple sticky note attached to the door tag asking the housekeeper to return at XX should suffice. If they continue to walk in on us despite such a note, the front desk will be getting calls.

I don't mind them checking the rooms daily. I've been worried for the security of the animals at AKV from day one as you know there are scary folk in the world who may dream of taking out some from their balconies. I just ask for privacy when we need it.

I do agree that we shouldn’t have to resort to such devices. I’m a member. I’ve been there going on dozens of times. I have 4 trips planned in 2018. WDW generally and DVC particularly should know that I’m low risk and act accordingly.

Even the danged TSA has a preferred customer pre-check.

So. Pre-check me and then leave me alone.

I like that idea. Check our IDs at the front desk (mandatory in-person check in) then if we're a well known member, leave us be. They could also use this to help stop problems before they start with those who have in the past caused noise or other room problems: remind them of the rules.

The shooter in Vegas was well known in the hotels, had been a great customer for years, where he gambled big bucks. Suspect he would have walked any ‘trusted customer’ test.
Didn’t mean he wasn’t a psychopath unfortunately. When you have a situation where psychos can get high powered weaponary, Disney has a massive risk. Particularly if it leaves people undisturbed for 4+ days at a time.

IMO this is not adding any extra security. It’s more for show than a real counter measure.
They are bringing sniffer dogs in, they can sniff firearms and explosives. Hiding your gun will do no good.....

Someone on another forum reported knock on door, door opened, guy with a Beagle like sniffer dog was in his doorway.
Interesting, so I assume random or targeted since it's just not practical for every room.

thanks

You can't block the door but can make an appointment for them to come back. It is their house so you have to play along. Better to just let them do their thing and ignore them. It will be property wide soon enough.
