Has anyone been 'kicked out' at closing time?

Yes- we honestly just lost track of time. We went on Buzz- there was no wait. When we came out there were cast members with flashlights waving at the ground pointing towards the exit of tomorrow land. I thought they were trying to steer us away from a spill or something so we tried to walk towards space mountain and were politely told we had to leave the park. I asked why and they said the park closed half an hour ago. I apologized for making them stay late on our account and they walked with us onto Main Street. Guess time flies when you are having fun..

We've been in Epcot an hour after the park closed. Last ADR time and when we came out everyone was gone. It was weird but the parks have people working in them 24hrs. They let us walk around WS and take a ton of Christmas pics. Not one person said anything to us.

The CM lied to you. (Probably thought he was being "funny.")
They operate buses after the monorail shuts down.
Every. Night.

No guest gets left stranded at a WDW park.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize they operated buses from Epcot to the monorail resorts after the monorail stopped running, that's why I stopped and asked and because I was flustered trying to get back to our resort and it was so late I didn't even stop to think he might have been trying to be cute or funny. Good to know if that ever happens again though that a bus should be an option.

They will dispatch buses from the parks to any and all WDW resorts when late-night guests need them.

We were the last guests out of Epcot one evening last year. A CM stopped us at at gate and asked what resort we needed to go to. They dispatched a bus for us to get back on and chatted with us while we waited. I love talking to the CMs. This guy was from Kentucky, I think, and moved down with his wife to work at WDW when he retired. Told us we needed to find our husbands jobs in Orlando and go ahead and move down too! Lol

We've been the last guests swept out of the park. Usually 90 minutes to two hours after official park closing. My husband is a photographer and he loves those "empty park" shots.
and again why would you think its ok to stay in the park for 2hrs after closing!! I just don't understand it and that strikes me as the attitude that you are the only one who matters. The CM's have a right to go home. The maintenance has a right to do their jobs without you being there. Just a little common courtesy would be nice.

Very, very, unusual and not something I have ever experienced or witnessed, in person or on these boards.

though.....many people have different watch times.....heck my work computer, phone, and watch have 3 different times....

I've always wondered and still do what time CMs are actually scheduled to get off work when they are working a closing shift. Disney doesn't officially close at parking closing time if the stores, etc are still open after park closing time since we see the difference at parties where they close shop at the same time.

Buses still run what 2 hours after closing time and the shops are still open so obviously they don't expect everyone to leave immediately. Since they spent have that expectation don't they schedule CMs to get off after that expected time?

Anyone here with first hand official experience? When do cms get off after closing? If the park clears out before that time do you get to leave immediately or do you sti have to stay and do other things (cleaning, stocking, etc)?

I used to work at CRT, and though we had different closing times than the park usually a 9:35 ADR was the latest we had, but usually those people would be there until 10:30, we would have to wait til they were gone and then do all of our sidework......usually napkin folding (like literally 1200 napkins) and setting up for the next day......usually we got out of there at like 11:10 or so, but sometimes I remember leaving at 12:30-12:40....and at those times, managers had to approve that or once, my manager told us all to leave before midnight even if we left the morning shift in the lurch with not enough preparation done for them, he wanted us out......

highly suspect that staying 90mins - 2hrs after park closing would soon be stopped if too many people started to do this. Ultimately this would add to costs if more staff needed to stay longer.

Missy and her husband are friends of mine. Neither one of them would ever break the rules or cause a problem at a Disney park. I can assure you that they were operating within the acceptable behaviors AND areas allowed on the nights that they stayed. Keep in mind that Disney has certain protocols in place to sweep the park of guests. When the park needs to be empty of guests these protocols are put into place. It's important to note that there are nights when the parks are open late for extra magic hours as well as the occasional 24 hour event. Managers, security personnel and transportation employees are all SCHEDULED to work these hours and none of them are being inconvenienced by having to ever wait for guests.

Hubby and I just happened to be among the last folks in the park and a wonderful xast member offered to take our picture. This is a favorite of mine.

I have been asking if the park really does close that late....we are going in Dec and I know I will have a hard time getting my group up early so I'm glad to hear that they do stay open that late...when did you go that it was open that late? Are any attractions open...TIA for all of your answers :)

When the MK is scheduled to close at 11PM and there is a PM EMH that night, the MK will close to WDW resort guests at 1AM.

When the MK is scheduled to close at 12 Mid and there is a PM EMH that night, the MK will close to WDW resort guests at 2AM.

When the MK is scheduled to close at 1AM and there is a PM EMH that night, the MK will close to WDW resort guests at 3AM.

Except for a few minor exceptions, most MK attractions are open for PM EMH.

DHS and Epcot also offer PM EMH on an average of at least once per week.
The same "2 hours past posted closing time" and many/most attractions being in operation apply at those parks, as well.

What @Robo said @neto0312. We've been there for EMH nights that ended at 3 a.m. before and stayed until after 4 a.m. during one of the 24-hour parties!

Because it is okay and we've been talked to many, many cast members and CM managers over the years. We typically will ride a final ride at park closing and then my husband likes to take night time photos as we leave the park. Sometimes I'll go grab a snack at Casey's (which, by the way, stays open at least a half-hour after official closing every night -- same with the Emporium) and watch the Kiss Goodnight.

That Kiss Goodnight happens 45 minutes to an hour after official park closing. And then they run it again about a half-hour later -- so I'm fairly certain they're not running them for a park that is supposed to be completely devoid of guests at that point.

The CMs do their jobs, including clean-up, maintenance and everything else they typically do as the park closes. They're not waiting to do anything because there are still guests there.

No extra staff needed for us, we know the CMs' closing pattern. They start at the back of the lands and sweep forward toward the hub, then up Main Street. We follow the same path. We don't necessarily stay that late every night we're in the park, just when Franklin has specific photos he wanted to take. Especially for Halloween/Holiday decor.

Heck, in May, I grabbed a Grey Goose slushie in the World Showcase before Illuminations and just wandered around sipping for about an hour afterward while Franklin took nighttime photos of the Flower and Garden topiaries.

To be clear, we're NOT HIDING in the parks, hoping to get to stay longer than Disney allows for. Just simply adhering to the way Disney closes its parks.

Disney isn't adding to a CMs day by sweeping guests out of the park, those sweeps take that long anyway and are built into the CMs' schedules.

Thank you! We'd never do anything that would break Disney's rules and risk getting banned from the parks! We go way too often to let something like that happen.

From a post I made some years back.........

A small number of folks from the dis here were at MK back in 2001. We hung around well after the Kiss Goodnight. Sat around, chewing the fat in the hub. The only CM's we saw were a few security and late night maintenance. We started to drift down Main Street, probably upwards of 2 hours past closing, toward the exit. One of the suits asked us what resort/s we were staying at. We told him the 3 or 4 where we were staying. He replied, 'That's what we thought, your bus is outside waiting for all you guys'. We got on the bus, only us, and the single bus took us all to our respective resorts. we were the last ones out.

Nice memories.

Never *kicked out* but we have seen CM's politely and slowly, directly guests to the exits as soon as the stores on Main St closed. The stores usual close about +/- 40 minutes after wishes.

There are many nights when MK does not close with Wishes.
(Such as every night this month and next month.)

Your right Robo!

My point was just to give a framework to what we have seen at closing. We rarely stay in the MK after WISHES.

Since it's policy to allow guests to get into ride lines right up until park closing, I would think they would expect some guest to be in the parks after closing. I would imagine for some rides like Soarin or Toy Story, it may take hour or more to clear out the line

Exactly, and if they didn't expect us to linger, the Emporium wouldn't stay open for an hour past park close.

When we left MK shortly after 2am on our last trip (It was EMH), as we were exiting by the train station, there were CM asking people which resort they were going to, and they were directing us towards the buses and telling us which stop to go to because the bus stops were different than the normal ones...apparently they were combining resorts onto single buses because there weren't as many people getting on. It was the only time the whole trip that the bus to POP was combined with another resort (AOA), so we assumed it meant that they were making sure that all guests were accommodated by a bus to their resort and so no one was left behind without transportation. I actually asked and was told that the buses would be running until at least 3:30-4am, but not as frequently, so I'm pretty certain they'd make sure everyone got 'home' to their resort.

I've never been kicked out of MK and I've stayed well after park closing however it is mostly to hang around mainstreet. I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed to run around all the lands all willy-nilly. At HS I experienced being told I was not allowed to go anywhere beyond the Hat (RIP) after Fantasmic. I wanted to get some evening photos after Fantasmic but was not able. I understand though, they have to clean the parks at some point! The CM were very friendly about it so I didn't feel like we were being "kicked out."

Enjoying a very empty Mainstreet on May of 2015.
