Day 6, Part 1 In Which I Get Mouse Approval On My Art
Day 6, Part 1 In Which I Get Mouse Approval On My Art
TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAS THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD SEE HANSON IN EPCOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today was just gonna be an unreal day. Oh my GOD DISNEY AND HANSON. LET'S GO LET'S GO!!
That came later though. In the morning, Jess had to go to school and I had to go to Hollywood Studios!
YAY
Instead of taking notes for my TR, I usually go by the pictures on my phone. Like, I take photos of things that I never plan on posting, that don't necessarily look good, just so I remember moments and the order in which I did things. Since I lost my phone pictures, I really have no idea what I did when I got to the park. I just can't remember.
Sorry.
Random picture time!
(????)
I was very hungry, so I needed to get a cupcake. The line for Starring Rolls was out the door, but look, it's Starring Rolls.
WORTH THE WAIT.
I was very amused because while in line, I noticed several Hanson fans, which brought on a familiar feeling. I've traveled pretty extensively to see Hanson since age 13, and it's the greatest feeling when you get to a town you've never been to before after hours of travel and you see someone with a Hanson shirt on or you recognize their face from many shows past. You know that they've come a long way too, cause you've seen them in Minneapolis or Tulsa or Boston, and it's like you belong to this global club that goes where the action is. Today, the action was in Walt Disney World, which could not have been better for me, cause if you haven't noticed... Disney is kinda my thing.
I had gone over to a bench to eat my cupcake, and one of the Research CMs came over to me to ask me some questions. I was hoping he would ask about something I could flail and fangirl over, specifically "What do you think of Epcot's Eat to the Beat Concert Series starring Hanson, aren't they just the best?" Instead, he asked about the My Disney Experience app. I am not a huge fan of this app. In general, most apps just drain your battery... I would much rather use the mobile version of the MDE site.
It didn't last very long, and at the end he took my e-mail, but I never got anything from them so I don't know what that was about.
I saved some of my cupcake for later cause I was in the mood to travel through some flawless moments in classic film.
@babybritney: Oh you know just crying in the great movie ride line cause Casablanca is perfect. Bogart, now there's a guy id get hung up on.
Yeah, I did tear up when the Casablanca trailer came on! It just gets me every time.
I really enjoyed the ride even more than usual. This was one of those days where I was just SO APPRECIATIVE of everything in Disney. I was so happy and in the moment and truly felt 100% that feeling of home.
I went over to Animation after that and straight into my beloved drawing class! We drew Minnie Mouse, and again, mine wasn't that good! Between this and Elfin Rapunzel, I was slipping!! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY TALENT?????????
It's okay, I was happy to try out drawing a character that I had never done before, and plus, Minnie was right next door! I decided it would be perfect if she could sign my drawing, so I headed right back into the building after class let out.
I was distracted, however, by a table that was set up. There were copies of drawings spread out on it with an animator sitting and coloring one in. There were two little girls and a mom sitting there too. I kind of wanted to sit down too, but I felt awkward. Then, just as I was about to pass by... I stopped dead in my tracks!
There was a print of EUGENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awkwardness be damned, I'm an adult and I want to color my prince!!! Move aside, children!
"Hi!!!!!!!!!" I said to the animator, "Can I draw Flynn Rider?!" He said sure. So I sat down, picked up a colored pencil, and got to work!
The little girl next to me was sooo cute. She kept wanting to use whatever colored pencil I was using, and her mom kept insisting she let me finish and apologizing to me. I didn't really mind though, I was in no rush and she was so adorable! So I just kept handing 'em over.
I made Eugene's eyes blue, and the animator asked me if they were really blue. I told him that they were brown, but the brown colored pencil had been snatched from me by my new friend so today they were going to be blue!
He said he thought they actually might be blue but he couldn't remember. I said, "Hmm, maybe." in my "I'm being polite so I don't sound like a know-it-all, but you are in fact wrong, sir" voice. I knew they were brown from watching Tangled approximately 7,389 times. He searched in his box o'drawings for a pre-colored version of the Flynn print, but he couldn't find one.
My finished product!
Husband.
Once I was done, I went to get in the line for Minnie Mouse! There was still no sign there, but at least there was a CM at the entrance this time. I asked if Minnie's attendant would have a pen, because I really wanted her to sign my drawing but I had nothing to write with! I was actually gonna go ask if I could borrow a colored pencil from my new animator friend if not. She told me that yes, either the attendant or Photopass Photographer should have a pen, and if not, to come back to her and she would get me one.
That ended up not being necessary, cause the attendant did give me one. Again, the line was almost non-existent, yay!
I showed Minnie the drawing and of course she seemed stunned and astounded at my talent. I told her it wasn't perfect but for my first time I thought it looked pretty good. She gave me the thumbs up in agreement and seemed very happy with it!
I think from now on I'll request Mouse Approval on all my drawings.
I thought about what I wanted to do next, and honestly I just wanted to draw again! The park was pretty busy and I was just like, I'm hiding out with the animators in here.
I was very happy to see my favorite animator teaching the class this time! I've talked about him before. He is so talented and able to explain things in a way that makes sense to me.
I was so excited because he said we would be drawing MIKE WAZOWSKI! Yay!!! He took a vote on whether we wanted to draw young Mike with braces & a baseball cap or adult Mike like in the original film. I wanted younger Mike really bad, just because that seemed like a more rare opportunity, but it was almost unanimous for Monster's Inc age Mike. Oh well.
Woooo!!! Clearly, I was back on my game. Go me!
I went downstairs to see if there was anything else I wanted to & check out how long the Ralph & Vanellope wait was.
I checked the Wait Times, and Toy Story Mania said 30 minutes! I couldn't believe that it would be so short at this time of day, especially because the park was pretty crowded. I was really doubting that and thinking that it was probably way longer. It was around lunch time now, and I just couldn't imagine how it would be so short in the middle of the day.
I went over there and LOOK
I have literally never seen it so empty in there with the exception of the time that I got there so early that I was one of the first guests on the ride. I was SO HAPPY!!! WOOOOOOOOO

This was such a fun surprise. The line ended up being less than 25 minutes, so I hopped right back on after getting off, of course!
That was so great. I don't understand it! Someone tweeted me to say that lines always go down around lunch time, which I understand, but Toy Story Mania is not often a 25 minute line even during low crowd times! And this was a BUSY day. Guess I just have pixie dust following me around.
From there I headed down Sunset to see if I would have the same luck at my Tower, but there was some Streetmosphere going on, so I decided to just stop and watch their entire skit.
My favorite Hollywoodlander was out! It's EVIE STARLIGHT!!!!
She is sooo funny. This is my dream job.
