This time, 3 weeks from now, we will be almost waking up to catch our flight to WDW and BC!!!!!

:cool1:

I have a question about bedding. Do they have goose-down, feather bedding and pillows at BC? We have a standard view room if that matters. I'm allergic so when we stay at a (non wdw) hotel I usually have to request no down. If they do use down bedding, what should I do? Can I call ahead about it or ask at check-in? Thanks so much!!

The bedding is now the triple sheeted kind now, so no down quilts. Funny, I can't remember for the life of me what pillows any wdw resort has  I guess I just don't pay attention, lol.
But you should have your allergies noted on your reservation. You'd have to jst call Central Reservations line. Better to be on the safe side. I wouldn't wait till check in.

Dee, Thanks for all you do! :flower3: Our dates have changed. No longer in Sept, Our new dates for the Be Our Guest list are: Oct 24-Nov3.

It's a bit of an unusual split, all YC except for two days at AKL in the middle. While at AKL we have reservations for a late lunch at Saana one day and Jiko wine tasting and dinner the next. Then it's back to YC. It's the best of both worlds! :cheer2:

That sounds like a great plan! I'll update your info on the BOG list.

:thumbsup2

Our family just returned from a 7 night stay at AKL in a one bedroom villa. We had one of the few Club Level DVC rooms available anywhere. It was a splurge and it was wonderful. Yes there were some rips in the carpet and the furniture was dinged up in some places but the rooms there are wonderful. The lounge was great and the CM's were as helpful and friendly as any I have ever experienced. Mousekeeping was tip top and the buses were not really a problem.

I say that to say this: Beach Club is our Home. I so missed walking over to EPCOT to stroll around. I missed racing the boat back from Hollywood Studios. I missed StormAlong Bay. I missed Beaches and Cream.

I didn't see a single fireworks show because I didn't want to deal with the bus crowds. I ate at the food court (Mara) one time and ordered flatbread pizza. Same one you can get at the Market Place. AKL is beautiful but it's not home. WL is beautiful but it's not home. Grand Floridian is beautiful but it is not home. And I have stayed in all within a year.

I know the Y&BC is banged up right now and need of some TLC. I can wait. All resorts go through this cycle. And when they finish, ahhhhhhhh!

But one of the things I didn't miss out on seeing. The Greatest CM on Property!

Thanks for your fantastic review. Glad you had a great trip. AKV Club Level sounds awesome!

And I am especially happy that you didn't miss out on the best attraction in the World!

:wave2:

Your not crazy- I just booked our Dec 2015 vacation and we haven't taken our Nov 2014 vacation yet!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Please add us to the Be Our Guest list Dec 6-15, 2015 YC. I'll be the first!!

:woohoo:

I'll put you on the list again!

Nothing like having a trip on the horizon and one in the hopper!

:yay:

Our first stay at BC will be 9/22-9/25. (Please add to your Be Our Guest) :beach::beach:(We are usually CSR folks but after staying at DLR in 2013 decided we loved being able to walk to the parks.) We have an ADR for Beaches & Cream for arrival day lunch primarily for the $14.99 Mickey's Kitchen Sink. If that isn't offered there we would rather use a QS at Hurricane Hanna's. Can any one tell me if the $14.99 version is there?

Happy to add you to the list. I'm glad someone had the info about the mini kitchen sink.

We just stayed at the Grand Californian at DL, and like the Beach Club, being at the back door of one of the theme parks is just indescribably awesome!

:cheer2:

How long is the couch in the BC studio villa?
I see 2 pillow cushions.
So maybe it is 5 feet long? 6 feet long?

:welcome:

Although I have been known to bring a tape measure to the Beach Club for inquiries just like this, I have not stayed in a villa, so I don't have the answer for you.

If anyone is staying at the villas soon, could you make an estimate of the size?. Maybe a picture with someone stretched out on the couch.

I would be the perfect subject for a project like this since I am exactly 5 feet tall!

:rotfl:

Looking to stay BC Club Level late January of next year. Anyone have any idea how long the rehab will take? TIA

:welcome: to the thread.

Would you like me to pencil you in on the Be Our Guest list?

Unfortunately, every rehab of the resort is different because different amounts of work are done, so we can't base an estimate of when the work will be completed on past refurb timetables.

I believe the work on the lounge is starting TODAY!!! (BTW- would love reports and pictures from anyone there now)

How long will that take? I don't know.

After the lounge is completed, work will start on the rooms at club level (5th floor). I suspect some will be done by late January. Maybe all. Don't know.

:thumbsup2

I agree that you should call ahead now, but as Sue suggested, you will get the Central Reservation Office, not the Beach Club directly. Not quite sure how to get in touch with someone at the resort.

I don't spend any time on the DISabilities board here, but I know there is a lot of info about dealing with allergies at Disney. If you haven't been there, you should try searching "Down allergies" and see if the folks there have some helpful suggestions for you.

August 2014 5th Annual Beach & Yacht Club DIS Meet

Monday August 18, 2014, 6:30 PM
Solarium at the Beach Club

Expected Attendees: DisneyMomx7, TeenaS, NinjaMom, Buzzy, JanetMom, ScottMC & JNPants, mommyrosa2, Mousemommy1, tarak, Dancing Queen, HockeyMomR, Real (Happy) Dee, The Magical One (maybe)

IMPORTANT REMINDER

We are 2 weeks away from the biggest, baddest Beach & Yacht Blub FAQ meet ever!

We are trying to get an approximate head count of who may be attending. While we won't hold you to anything or permanently ostracize you if you say you are coming, but find something else distracts you, if you are thinking of coming to the meet, can you please RSVP to me by email with the number of adults and children expected to attend?

beachclubdee at yahoo

We may have special surprises (we may not)- I have heard a rumor that the Chip and Dales may show up but why anyone would be interested in stripping rodents, I just don't know.

:confused3

Maybe a practice demonstration from the Stormalong Bay Synchronized Pool Tube Team.

(I hope not!)

As Flat Dee, who will be REAL this year says

"Be There or Be Square"

Which has the better breakfast buffet, cape May or captains grill? Thanks! (We can take or leave the character interaction as it's our first adults only trip, we are staying at YC and plan to spend most of the day relaxing by the pool and then that night we have our 10 year anniversary dinner at California Grill)

We very much preferred Cape May breakfast over Captains Grill breakfast when we went. So much so we at breakfast at Cape May 3 times during our trip, one at Captain's was good enough.

So thrilled all of you are going to get together but sooooooo jealous that I'm missing it by 2 days!!

I will definitely be there in spirit and will hoist a drink on the 18th with all of my BC friends in mind!! Can't wait to see the pics!

Jay

I have only been to Cape May (loved the breakfast and characters) and will probably try Captain's Grille in a couple of weeks. CG has both a la carte ordering and a buffet, so you can choose which way you want to dine, for a lot less than Cape May.

There are reviews with lots of pictures of both restaurants in the dining post (maybe Post 6 or 7, can't remember) on Page 1

:thumbsup2

Don't forget at the captains grille breakfast buffet you can also order any type of omelet you want too. They don't advertise this but I had read it somewhere and sure enough, It was out in 5 minutes too. Just enough time to kill 1 plate of food first. :)

Question on the Kids Club at the Beach Club- Do you pay separately or is it just tacked onto your hotel bill (we are staying at BC)? Do they accept tips onto the receipt or cash only? Any insight would be appreciated... want to be prepared!

Can't wait 12 days and counting! I'm so excited to meet Teena and any other Disboarders I can!:cool1:

We are now booked for 2/28 - 3/6/15 at the Beach Club Villas! We made resort reservations yesterday and bought the plane tickets this morning. I can now officially be very, very, very excited to visit our happy place!:yay:

Can you please add me to the Be Our Guest list? Thank you so much!

(only 208 days to go..)

Glad you enjoyed your AKL stay & have to agree with you about the BC. Even though we are not DVC members, the BC feels like home to us as well and even though we are very much looking forward to our first Grand stay next week, it will be "different". Although, I do intend to get my BC fix as we have an ADR for Cape May (love those crab legs) and we do plan to visit our favorite CM on property as well!

I know we're all BC/YC people here, but I must say I am a huge fan of BoardWalk Bakery. I usually recommend it to people looking for counter service on her Epcot Loop. Their cupcakes will blow you away too. I still dream of a S'mores cupcake I had ere back in 2012.

Scott...definitely agree with you here. Last August, we decided to walk over to the bakery for a quick sandwich and were surprised at how good the food was. And the cupcakes??? I tried one of their cookies n' cream one that had two oreos on top to look like Mickey ears and all I can say is OMG!!!

Speaking of cupcakes, Bob and I had a pina colada cupcake from Gasparilla's at the Grand when we were there. Holy cow ... it was soooooo good. Bob went back the next day for another!! Rosa ... try it while you are there!

Since I like to think of myself as a "cupcake queen", I most definitely will try it :)

Dee - thanks for the reminder about the meet. I'll email you my response.

I'm looking forward to it, in spite of the questionable entertainment.

And to all the other recent posters - you are making me want a cupcake. I'm tempted to go out and buy a couple right now, but it is a holiday here today so I'm not sure if any of our favourite cupcake shops are open. I think I'm best off waiting for just two more weeks until I can get one over at the boardwalk. Mmmm.

I had that cupcake last year and I'm still dreaming about it!

They have it at the beach club pool grille too.
I will definitely be getting that cupcake (and the crabcake sandwich from the beach club grille).

Hey PinkGirl...
I sent you a PM. Please check your folder.

Smoochies,
~NM

And we'll be having dinner at the Brown Derby and watching Fantasmic'

We have a quick lunch rez there. Cobb Salads and a quick Dorma Nesmond Martini. I'd walk through fire for that Cobb Salad.

Woohooo 2 weeks from tonight I'll be... STILL IN NYC! I'm jealous :)   :)

~N

Nothing wrong with NYC! We were there 2 weeks ago because JNPants' brother had an audition for Jeopardy! We did a quick day trip in, and saw "Newsies" on Broadway. Great Disney pre gaming!

I'd say more selection= Cape May by a mile.
More calm, peace and quiet= Captain's Grille

Wheeee! Can't. Wait.

Wow - would love a DIS meeting
Our next trip would be mid-May in 2017 or 2018 - we have to wait for our DD to get out of college. No college payments mixed with a WDW vacation in our budget.

Maybe we can find a DIS meet in mid-May in 2017 or 2018.

In the mean time happy planning !
