Official London / Paris / Disneyland Paris Thread

We are in the last stage of our trip.

We arrived in NJ Saturday afternoon, made it until approximately 8:30pm before we passed out (We are party animals).

On Sunday, we drove to to the northwest part of NJ for John's Dad's 80th birthday. It was great getting to see John's family, who we don't get see nearly enough.

Today, we are driving to Newark airport. After hearing horror stories about security lines, we are leaving extra hours to give us a cushion.

While I love traveling, I am at the point where I miss home and the dogs.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in
my own bed tonight and having my own coffee tomorrow morning.

The world is a great place to visit, but there is no place like home.

Glad you had a nice visit with family. Praying you have av safe trip home.

Today is our last day in Paris. This morning we woke up and had a serious need for caffeine, so we stopped in the Starbucks just down the street. We also made a stop in the small local grocery store and found Fleur de Sel - fancy salt, a bottle of Creme de Cassis so I can make Kir at home, and a liter of Coke. Interestingly enough, Coke in a restaurant is far more expensive than wine. Mike usually harasses me about being an expensive date, however the shoe is definitely on the other foot!

After some serious shopping, we stopped in La Bucherie, just across the street from Notre Dame. This restaurant was recommended by Kevin because their large cokes come with fireworks! I'm sure Mike will post pictures and video shortly.

This evening we are packing and looking forward to getting home tomorrow. As much as we have enjoyed all of our adventure, we miss home - Ian, dogs, cats, our bed, and American air-conditioning!

Enjoy your last night! Good luck getting everything packed.

Laurie, there is an ashtray on the table.

LOL! Definitely a dead giveaway! :rotfl2: I do agree with Laurie, though. How did you manage to get the same amount of ice all 28 of us had the entire trip into one cup at one time???? Definitely jealous.

Kevin, I had a street person try and pull the "I found your ring" gag. I pushed him away and watched him very carefully. Fresh out of the Disney Bubble, I was still very aware of where my wallet is at all times here.

"PICKPOCKET!!!!!"

I was very appreciative of American air-conditioning until I got home. My air is not working properly, and I'm finding the air-conditioning at the hotels were MUCH better than Saturday and Sunday night at home. Glad I had an electric fan! I need to call for service. Probably needs a recharge.

On the other hand, I showed my mom how to wrap a scarf "Parisian style", and she was impressed.

Here we go...

Bwahahahahahaha! That is awesome. I can see why this was a spectacle not to be missed. ;)

We flew standby on an earlier flight and we are HOME.....where Diet Coke flows like water, everything is air conditioned and the humidity will knock you flat just getting off the plane.

Glad to be home, but I hear Paris calling my name.

She's going to have to wait a while....but I will definitely be answering:thumbsup2

Glad you are home safe, and thanks for all you did to put this trip together.

I ordered a Coke Light last night at dinner....

I feel the same way about London, I will be back.

Some of our last images from Paris :( What an amazing trip this has been. We will be leaving in the morning for Houston. We are looking forward to seeing DS, our kitty cats, and the puppies!!

This trip should be subtitled the "Trip with lots o'Stairs"

I can say with a great sense of accomplishment that our bags are packed. Fourtunately, we figured out this afternoon that we are allowed 2 checked bags instead of 3 per person as thought. :scared1: So, now that I've stimulated the London and Paris economies, hopefully everything will make it home. We leave in 7 hours for the airport...... :sad1:

Au revior Paris..... For now!

We are having a fabulous after-the-adventure adventure in Paris. Believe me, adventure is the appropriate term! We have had many magical moments on our own. Our lunch was at La Petit Cler on Rue Cler. Yes, it is a magical street and yes, you can pick out the Americans as they walk by!

The first picture Mike posted is the view out of our apartment window. He looked out just in time to see a horse drawn buggy going by.

More to come later!

I was wondering if La Petit Cler was on Rue Cler. I dream of the day when I can take a stroll down Rue Cler.

That is the best presentation of a soda I've ever seen!

Laurie, there is an ashtray on the table.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Great point!

Welcome home!
Thank you for such an amazing trip! My mom & I enjoyed it all especially the wonderful fellow adventurers. Can't wait to go again!

where Diet Coke flows like water, :thumbsup2

LOL did they just have Coke Light overseas? When I lived in Russia I actually gave up on Diet (or Light as it were) and switched to regular, because "Coke Light" was a far cry from Diet Coke!

That is the ceiling inside Le Chateau De La Belle Au Bois Dormant (AKA Sleeping Beauty Castle).

The idea of the Chateau is that it grew organically out of the ground - hence the tree trunks.

Thank you very much for the answer

a gust of wind came through that was so strong, it made you lose your balance.

I'm sure that the Trocadero, being such a wide open expanse, is used to wind gusts like this, but on that particular day....I'm certain that it was my friend Michael.

I'm sure he was in Paris with me....just like we planned.

Posts like this make me wish every website had a "like" button. That was beautiful, Kevin.

We are home!! And it looks like our luggage barfed its contents on the bed. Customs at the airport thought Christy was starting her own wine and champagne shop, so we had to go visit the tax and duty line. Ian is home from school now and going thru his goodies from the trip!

It is good to be home, but I am craving a croissant and a coke made with real sugar.

Welcome home, oh intrepid travelers! Glad you made it home OK. I hope they didn't charge you *too* much for the champagne!

Actually, they didn't charge us at all. I brought back 12 bottles and our allowance was 4 bottles, so they didn't want to bother collecting the 3% duty on the 8 bottles over the limit. It was really a painless experience considering some of the other stories I've heard.

Did all of the bottles go in your checked bags?
