Couch to 5k

The treadmill I was on was at the gym. It may have felt easier that day just being indoors in the ac since we had record heat that day. At 9 am it was already 85 and by the afternoon was up to 100. The treadmill was a must that day. I also need to get a good set of headphones. On the TM I definately need some music. I just hate the ear bud type. They don't stay in my tiny ears.

Hi there, I am just getting started on the C25k program. I am very excited about it. I am planning on doing a 1/2 marathon in 2013. I just got back from a trip to Disney World and made a promise to myself that the next time I see that beautiful castle, I'd be running through it...and I'd be a whole new (better) person. So, I am excited to get started on the program. I have about 60 lbs to lose, so I'm hoping this will be a great way to do it.

Also, I'm mostly concerned about the food side of the program. I am worried that I will not eat properly to fuel my body. But, I'm not going to let my fear stop me. :)

I can't wait to read throught all the pages of information that I've missed.

Hi Angie! I started the C25K progaram just a few weeks ago. If you are on Facebook, they have a page and frequently give tips about what's great to eat to help with weight loss and good fuel for running. Check it out. I've found it to be very helpful. My diet before really stunk. I have a really bad sweet tooth. I found my cravings changed too. For about a week all I wanted was chicken. I guess I just needed more protein.

I plan on getting w6d3 in tomorrow. I haven't been feeling to great the last few days. I started doing my run then got very sick halfway through. I'm wating till I'm in tip top shape to run again

I finished w4d3 today! On to week 5! My shins felt a lot better today. I slowed my pace way down and tried shortening my stride. We'll see how they are tomorrow morning. I signed up for my first 5K. It's this Saturday. I know I won't run the whole thing. But by then I will be up to W5D3, the 20 minute run! So I'll do what I can and walk the end. I'm looking for another 5K to do at the end of July. By then I should be able to run the whole 3.1 miles.

So i ended up doing my run because I was bored with being inside.

I am SOO glad I did it. I ran further and faster than ever. I now understand the high all my runner friends say they get from their runs. I am so happy.

I am so ready for week 7.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Thanks for the welcome!!! And for the facebook page. There are a lot of folks on there and a lot of great information. I really appreciate the information!

Hi everyone! I'm Robyn and I just started the C25K today. I did the W1D1 workout this morning and I signed up for my first 5k race for October 1st.

I did the whole program last year and then totally quit running. I can't believe how out of shape I got in just that year. I'm starting over completely from scratch and was huffing and puffing for this workout but I completed the whole thing and feel great!

My goal is to be able to run several 5k races this year and slowly work myself up to 13.1 miles next year so I can run the Disneyland 1/2 in 2012 or the Princess 1/2 in 2013. I'm turning 30 in the start of October and I want to enter my thirties and the rest of my life being healthier than I ever have been.

We are almost in the same boat! I just started C25K as well an my first 5k is on October 1st. I am hoping to do the Princess half in February. A big goal so we will see! I have a couple 5Ks in October on the calendar and a 10K early December. We will have to keep each other motivated! :)

:cheer2::cheer2: Hooray! I'm really excited about really doing this and sticking with it this time. This time last year I was going through a horrible life change and after I finished the program I wasn't in a good place mentally to do anything with it. One year later my life is way different and about 1000% better than it ever has been. I have no reason to no finally take the step from "couch potato" to "runner."

I won't be able to afford to do the Princess 1/2 in 2012 so my goal is to do a couple 5ks this fall, do a 10k and then I'll find a 1/2 marathon somewhere here in Colorado to run in February or March. My goal is to have one 1/2 done by the end of March and then I'll train for a better time during the spring and summer and hopefully run either the Disneyland 1/2 or the WDW Wine and Dine 1/2!

Good luck with your training, I look forward to going through this process "together". :-) Got to love the internet!! :surfweb:

Welcome and congrats to all the new comers for starting down the running road! :cheer2:

So I have a question for anyone who has the C25K app for android (I think its the one by BlueFin). How do you get your music into the app? I just finally got some tunes put on my phone. I can play my playlist that I made for running and run the C25K app. I just can't figure out how to get it to play on the app's play list. I guess it doesn't really matter since I can do both.

Happy running everyone!

Hey there to you both...I'm in the same boat!!! Just started and doing a 5k on October 1st!!! I hope we can do this together!!! :)

Welcome newbies!!!! Glad y'all could join us!

I'm in limbo right now. I have yet to break through week 5. I have my 20 minute run that is hovering over my head. I need to do it but my PF is acting up again (wore high heels to many days in a row).

But I need to do it.

DS14 starts summer conditioning for Cross Country on Monday. The goal is to run 400 miles between now and August 27th when real practice starts. I'm hoping to keep up with him!! I may not run as fast but I want to at least try to log the same amount of miles.

And I was able to draw the AK route on my treadmill this week, so I'm going to start with that as well.

C25K W1D1 - Done! :) I am loving how the iPhone app beeps when it is time to switch so I don't have to watch the clock the whole time. :)

Wow on the 400 miles! Good luck. :)

How did you "draw" the AK route on your treadmill? I'm doing the Halloween 5K too, and it's my first race of any kind. :scared1:

I did w5d2 this morning. 8 minutes was not as bad as I thought. I think having some music to run to really helped. I finally got SH to put some tunes on my phone the other night. Saturday I will do w5d3. Bring on the 20 minute run! Saturday I will be doing my first 5k, although I don't expect to run the whole thing. I need to have something hanging over my head so I wouldn't fall off the band wagon. I'm hoping to find another 5K sometime around the end of July. By then I will have finished C25K.
