Fish Extender Gifts

Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to make a FE?

Welcome Tweet! If you do a search for Fish Extender picture you should find some ideas...some folks sell them on Ebay...I went on Ebay and looked at some and then came up with our own design...we're going fishy by sewing pockets with fish on them....it will be completely homemade so the design may flounder (sorry couldn't avoid the pun!)

Just something for those participating to be able to put goodies in! :)

We will be cruising in 4 weeks :woohoo:

I just figured we would just hang our FE and take time to walk around the ship and find others.......I didnt realize that most people belong to a group and know who is participating on their cruise.

Is there a list somewhere for this?

Approx how many people on an avg cruise have FE?

Thought I'd share this for some ideas. We had a small group in our FE Gift Exchange last month, so I did more than I would have had there been a LOT of people.
Here's a photo of what I gave:

Ok, I have a question. I have read lots of the posts for FE's but for some reason I am still confused. Do you get assigned a certain cabin to give gifts too? Or, if there's lets say 10 cabins participating, do you just buy 10 gifts? And then give them something just one time or what exactly. Boy, it seems hard to explain what I mean in writing. And there will be 3 of us, but I really only care about participating for our daughter. I just need to make an FE for her right? Thank you for your help!:confused3

On our past cruise, we had about 20 cabins that participated. On 2 occasions, we went around to all the cabins and gave out our goodies.

Sometimes people give out goodies once during the cruise; sometimes goodies are given out on multiple occasions. It just depends on how your group sets it up.

On our cruise in Oct. we had 36 cabins. We gave to all and I had adult gifts and then individual kids gifts as well as a gift for the family! I made keychains for adults, bracelets and necklaces for the kids with their names and door hangers for the family! I don't think u partake as individuals (like only ur DD) but as a cabin as a whole!

On our recent cruise on the Wonder, we had 10 families participating including my own. This meant I did up gifts for 9 other families. Our FE had a pocket for each person in my family and we left it up to everyone participating to gift how they wanted to (ie: one gift per cabin, or one gift for each person in the cabin ect...) A gift might be a few things in a bag or just one item on it's own. I prefer just one trip one night to deliver my FE gifts. If you join up at your cruise meets board, whoever is co ordinating it will let you know all the details for your particular FE gift exchange, or ask for everyones input as to how everyone would like it done. Some groups like ours on the Wonder are small, but many on the Magic get to be quite big (numbers of participants) The number participating will be the deciding factor in what I give as a gift.
I hope this and the previous two post have provided you the info you were looking for. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask here.:)

Our FE had 3 pockets - one for each child and one for both adults. We were on the WONDER and 6 families participated (including us) We gave one gift to each child and one to each adult - all on day 1; and then on day 2 we gave each child a gift and a combined gift for the 2 adults in the cabin; day three was the same) If i were to do it again, I would cut down the # of gifts to no more than 2 days (takes a lot of room to pack). Although our kids loved to give and receive the gifts no matter how small. They ran up and down the halls to find the right rooms etc. Guess you can do what YOU want. Nice thing about the FE - no hard and fast rules. Probably why it IS fun!!

Try the $ spot in the front of Target. Last week they had some pretty cute Disney themed items>

Shoot--I thought I had it easy with 36 cabins....Sheesh u guys with like 10 cabins have no idea about all the stuff to take. I shipped a box of goodie bags as well. I wouls love to just make for 10 cabins...I think I would do even more then I did if I had less. I thought I made alot of stuff too for 36 cabins. So far we have 8/9 cabins for our next cruise in 2011 and all of them are cabins from my oct cruise! We had such a fun time together we decided to share the Magic or for us WOnder this time. Finally gonna see the wonder...I am excited...never would do a 3/4 nt'er so I am excited the Wnder will do 7.

Just have fun with it....FE is just about sharing more Magical Memories and some people's crafty talents!

We just in our local COSTCO and found Princess and Car's playdo - 16 small tubes for 14.99

Just sharing an idea.

For our recent cruise in August on the Wonder, we gave printed tote bags to the kids filled with candly, pencils, memo pads, stickers, boys got Toy Story card games, and girls got Disney Princess or Tinkerbell headbands. For the adults I have can coozies printed. Along with that I laminated 2 drink recipes from DCL and gave a Margarittaville tequilla mini as we went to Key West. (Pics below)

We are sailing again in a few weeks, and since I was too late to get in on the official FE, I have made a CD and will have candy for each stateroom as well.

We had 14 rooms I think and OMGoodness did we come home with the loot. Of course, got the candy, pencils, but some of the cooler things we got were: Dry erase board, embroidered luggage tags, hadpainted wooden picture frames, Disney Music CD's, Disney Lithograph (YES SERIOUSLY), Door magnets/decorations, highlighters, hand sanitizers, little bottles of wine/alcohol, bookmarks...the talent was AMAZING!!

I think we all did a pretty good job!! :cool1: My kids had so much fun coming back to the room and finding a new surprise!! That really is what FE is all about!!

Just thought I would share the dis tag gifts I made last October.

I made 19 paper bag scrapbooks. I asked for the last name of each family participating and did a title page with "Smith family cruise" and if there was more than one last name in the family I just put Our Family Cruise.

They were pretty much the same but I did run out of supplies for the last 6 or so, I had to make new pages for those ones.

It took me a long time to make them but everyone seemed to like them :thumbsup2

They took up a lot of room though, so for our next cruise I will be doing something a LOT smaller :rolleyes1

I also put in some Canadian postcards and some pirate stuff for the kids.

(I blurred the last names)

Ok, this is just amazing and a little intimidating!!! Ooooh, I better do some planning on my FE gifts...there is serious competition!! pirate:

We just concluded our vacation aboard the Dream May 29th-June 3rd and were welcomed with an overwhelming generosity from our shipmates. The gift exchange was phenomenal and beyond our imagination...from embroidered bags with our Family name and family stick figures, cinch/backpacks, disney trading pins, necklaces, magnets, candy, coloring books, beautiful homemade stationary, water squirters, disney themed socks for our boys....the list goes on and on. Below is a photo of the bottlecap necklaces that we shared with our DISer's. We enjoyed every part of our cruise and this bit of "pixie dust" was no exception.
