The Everything Victoria & Albert's Thread

The courses are a "tasting" size - not a full sized entree. But you still have to pace yourself!

Hard to tell about the temperature, or how warm your wraps or jackets are! But I do believe that they have wraps for you if you get too cool. Just another service of a first-class restaurant!

:thumbsup2 Thank you!

I was thinking just a lightweight wrap - silk - just in case I get cold instead of a jacket that I would take off anyway. It's good to know that they have wraps there. :) I can hardly wait to go! :goodvibes

I have a quick question about the sizes of the portions in the Dining Room. are they large portions or just a bit on the small side given the number of courses? In other words, does anyone leave Victoria and Albert's feeling like they've had too much food - of just enough?

I'm really hoping that it's smaller portions for the enjoyment of the food.

Oh, and I've booked for April 21st - now I just have to figure out what to wear! :) Would you consider the temerature in the dining room to be on the cool side or the warm side? I'm trying to figure out if I should go for a wrap or a jacket.

TIA

Karen :flower3:

We will be there June 1st...taking my parents, too. I'll be anxious to hear what you think. I've wondered the same thing about the food and clothes...not really sure what to wear. I'm also hoping that it won't be rude to make tons of pictures...if so, I won't. Would love to get lots for my trip report.

Have a great time!

I have another question please. :goodvibes

How long before your ressie do they contact you for any food allergies and for the spelling of your name?

My ressie is for April 20th.

Thanks! :flower3:

V&A is fine dining embellished with first-rate service all around. As such, proper dress (jackets for men; dresses/pant suits for women) and deportment is required. A quick, single photo that marks a special event is acceptable but multiple-photo activity is best reserved for the parks.
Your personalized menu will be an adequate memento.

All the best. :thumbsup2

I just found this thread and am considering booking a reservation for our next trip. I started reading the thread but it will take me awhile to get through it all. Can you use the Tables in Wonderland card in the QVR? Or is it only valid in the main dining room?

TIA.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate your honesty very much...I wouldn't want to disrupt the atmosphere in any way at all. Looking forward to a quiet evening without children;)

About a week. If you don't hear from them, feel free to call yourself - I did that last time.

Well I finally got my phone call from V&A's to go over the menu, etc.

Now I just have a question about the desserts. I was looking at the selection, and they all sound wonderful. :cloud9:

Which one, in your opinion, is the best dessert and why? Do they ever make up a dessert sampler?

:flower3:

Karen

I don't remeber my dessert. But I LOVED the coffee!
It impressed me much more, obviously, since I don't even remember the dessert.

And to answer a previous question, the courses are pretty small.
Ours were really small. So you have room to eat each course.

I hope you are a coffee drinker.:)

Do Victoria & Alberts have a Christmas menu? We are thinking of booking for Christmas Day.

I'm a coffee addict. :hyper: I've heard that the coffee service is really well done - that's one of the things I'm looking forward to! :goodvibes

Now if I could just figure out the dessert part I'd be set. :upsidedow

Maybe I could call them and request a dessert sampler?

Last night I had the Grand Marnier Souffle, my Grandnephew had the Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle, one friend had the Carmelized Banana Gateau and the other friend had a Meyer Lemon and Blood Orange Purse with blackberry-Violet Sherbet. And we did share.

And if you are at CT or QVR you do get a dessert sampler.

I had the choc. souffle with Godiva choc. sauce. It was so heavenly it had to be sinful.:thumbsup2

Oh well, main dining room for me. :upsidedow

All of those desserts sound so delicious - maybe I'll leave it up to my server instead of trying to choose one. :goodvibes

I know others will (and have) disagree with me on this, but you can take as many photos as you like. They don't discourage it at all, in fact our server has always offered to take a photo of us.

I have taken food pics there, and I we didn't seem to be disturbing others. It is YOUR vacation, and if you want to take photos you certainly can. The tables are not near each other at all, and there is background noise. I have never paid any attention to what is going on at other tables when I have been there.

Have fun! It is a special evening that is to be celebrated! Don't be intimidated by the restaurant, at the end of the day that is all it is; a restaurant!

ITA! I do, however, go flashless. ;)
