Here's what I don't understand - if kids annoy you so easily why in the world would you put Disney World - probably the vacation site with the most children ever, during a cheerleading competition, at a value resort, for your vacation? Aren't you just setting yourself up for disappointment?
Because as a single adult, I love Disney World too. Maybe the OP's work schedule dictates when she can go on vacation and she doesn't have much choice in the matter. I don't think she is setting herself up for disappointment, many people have stayed at the value resorts during POP Warner and haven't experienced any problems.
No flames here.. but I am strangely compelled to tell you how wonderful my kids are Seriously, they are really nice, well behaved considerate people. I wouldn't want my vacation ruined by someone elses screaming or rude kids, so I don't let mine do it to someone else. Simple as that.

At the risk of getting slammed and banned I will say that DH and are off again for yet another try at the perfect adult vacation to DisneyWorld. Still wishing I could book into an adult only hotel or wing, still going to bring my earplugs so the little darlings don't wake me up at 6AM raring to go see "Meehee Mouse", etc. We will be at Wilderness Lodge for the 3rd year in a row, have asked again for a room facing the quiet pool on the main floor, and after last year asked to please not have a connecting door! lol
I have had 2 days off since last Christmas and I am so soo soooooo hoping to come back and tell you all it was perfect!
Now please, lets not start the flaming and slamming that got what was for the most part an excellent discussion thread shut down in July. Its okay to disagree, even passionately disagree, but be polite...okay?
Stay in the Cabins at the campground...then you have NO hallways, NO connecting doors, NO one sharing a wall with you.

Add me to the "no flames crowd". As much as I love and adore my kids, I equally enjoy "adult" only time. my dh & I try to eat one meal at Shulas as they generally don't encourage children (no kids menu).
I find that most people don't have a problem with kids, most people have a problem with adults who refuse to discipline out of control kids. remember any time you see a kid running around like a tazmanian devil, there is usually an adult allowing them to do so.
Because I haven't been to Disney World in almost 11 years and I love Disney. I want to spend my 21st birthday there. I know there are gonna be lots of kids running around being obnoxious, but I'm going to find that anywhere. I'm not setting myself up for disappointment if I try to ignore them. I'll be too busy having fun myself anyways. I'm sorry I can't afford to stay in the more expensive hotels. If I could, I would. I just don't have that kind of money. I'm only 20 years old. Maybe I will see if I can try and get a mod.
The cheerleading competition is only for 1 1/2 of the days I'm going to be there, so I will try to avoid the parks that they will be competing at those days. I will be up early anyways so they aren't going to be really bothering me with their cheering.
I'm gonna have to suck it up and deal with it. I'm going to be around kids my whole life so I have learn to deal with it and what better place to learn than Disney World.
