The 2010 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Thread

The post was in jest, I apologize if I offended anyone. :flower3: My ex-husband was stationed in korea, and he said they still have restaurants there that serve dog meat. :scared1: I personally don't care for most korean food. I may have an aversion to it because when I lived on post in Germany, one of my neighbors was married to a very nice Korean woman, who cooked Korean food every night and the stairwell always permeated with the smell of her cooking. Ironically, it was the only thing that would set off my morning-day-night sickness when I was pregnant. To this day, if I smell certain spices that are in korean dishes, I get nauseous.

"Also new will be a a Marketplace Discovery Passport, available at the Festival Center, which will allow guests to jot notes and track progress. Each marketplace will offer a unique stamp that can be added to the Passport"

Which is great, as I spend a huge amount of time before I go making exactly this type of thing to use!! Having been inspired by another DISer, a few years back.

That is cool, last year I carried around a notebook and made notes and took pictures of the food and wine..

Can't you put money on some kind of card that you can use during food and wine? I have been, but wasn't very educated at the time and went with a blindfold on for the most part.. I usually do the dinning plan, but am thinking that wouldn't be worth this time.. I love to graze and would rather have a card to graze on?

Any suggestions for a first time (no blinders on) as far as special events..?

I know weekends are worse, but if you had to fly in and out over the weekend is there a better time to go?? end or middle?

yes there is a reloadable card that you can wear on your wrist to buy anything at the kiosks and then it can be used anywhere at Disney if you don't use it all.

Enjoy

That'll be cool. Of course that means having to stop at each booth for something, but I think I'm up for the challenge.

I got one of these cards that can be worn on the wrist at the DCA Food & Wine this year. They're great!

I'd so love that!!

I really loved that we could use them over at the MK during the MNSSHP. I wish they'd offer the wrist band money cards year-round.

From All Ears Blog

"New in the International Marketplaces this year will be: Belgium, featuring steamed mussels; Singapore featuring Shirmp Cake on Sugarcane Skewer; and South Korea featuring "Bo Ssam" Lettuce wraps with roast pork and kimchi slaw."

I'm not a big fan of mussels, but the other two both sound really good.

Could you buy the F&W reloadable card with a Disney gift card?

I am sure you can, but the only difference between the two is the F&W you can wear on your wrist.

I would just use the gift card until it ran out and then go pick up the other kind, they are all over the area (or where last year)...

Can anyone tell me about how far in advance they start letting you make reservations for the hard-ticketed events? I just read about this one in this week's AllEars Newsletter:

"Delicious Dessert Discovery will be held every Thursday evening. This will be a dessert reception featuring both "action and prepared stations of sweet enticements" paired with wine, cordials, and coffee, followed by exclusive IllumiNations viewing. Cost will be approximately $50 per person."

Looks like they've switched this to Friday—dang! I'd already mapped out our week!

From the Disney Parks Blog:
"Also new this year is “3D” Disney’s Dessert Discovery every Friday during the festival with sweets, cordials and wine with VIP viewing for IllumiNations. Tickets are $45 plus park admission. A wonderful way to end the day. More to come!"

NOOOOO!!!!! :scared1::sad2: We already planned for EPCOT on Thurs. AND have a reservation at Le Cellier!!! And of course, there is no availability at Le Cellier on Fri. GRRRR!!!!

desserts + Illuminations viewing! :goodvibes
This is my kind of event.
Yes- please let us know when these events are open for booking.

I feel your pain—this is exactly what happened to us, right down to the Le Cellier reservation. I guess we can go back over to Epcot 2 nights in a row, but we were looking forward to dinner at Artist Point and Friday night at MK.

If there is one thing I have learned about Disney it's that we can't be absolutely certain what they're going to do until they make the official announcement as to the food/wine event schedule - and even then they sometimes change things.

Personally I wouldn't make any definite plans based on what is out so far - it's pretty much established that PFTS is on Saturdays but we still have no idea whether there will be a wine view room this year or anything.

Last year's booking for events opened August 11. The booking date has been getting later every year. That may or may not be useful for determining when booking will open in 2010.

It actually works out better for me if the dessert parties are on Fridays since I was planning Universal on a Thursday. Stinks for you who already had your intineraries figured out though.

We don't even know for sure that they WILL be on Fridays because the official schedule isn't out yet. It is still possible the Disney blog has it wrong.
