Shrinking Tink: Trading Pounds for Pixie Dust

I weighed in and...back up to 203. :sad2: I knew all the tequila and pizza would catch up though. :rotfl: After my trip to Disney I'm really cracking down. I mean I plan on doing good for the next 3 days, but Disney is a whole other story. I mean where else can you get Grey Goose slushies, school bread, and spicy cheese stuffed pretzels all in ONE day? :lmao:

:wave2:Hey Folks is there room on this thread for a wee one??? Well actually not so wee:blush:, that's why I'm here.

Here's the facts:-
Real Name: Kirsteen
Sex: Female
Age: 39 (I'll be 40 on 7thJuly:sad:)
Marital Status: married
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 161lbs (started the first week in Jan at 205lbs)
Problem areas: my whole body, top to toe
Current: don't laugh I'm following the Paul McKenna tecnique basically speaking just portion control
Disney Goal: 18lbs
Overall Goal: 133-140lbs.

There were various factors that made me get my backside in gear with the self improvement programme.
#1 turning 40 this year:scared1: I do not want to be fat & forty (BTW fat is not a word I ever use to describe other people...only myself:o)
#2 I had sinusitis and went to the doctor for antibiotics and what popped up on the screen in big red letters and flashing lights and sirens and fireworks going off....a pop up saying OBESE :scared:
#3 After my DNiece's 18th birthday party my DS-in-law posted pictures of me that were not what you might call flattering:sad2:
#4 On our last trip to Disney there were only about 6 pics with me in them and in most of them I had my girls strategically placed around me so you couldn't see my shape. Now this trip is costing us ALOT of money and it's my 40th birthday pressie so there is no way on this earth I will be avoiding the camera this year.
Now after all of these fact collided in my head at New Year the lovely Paul McKenna was on tv advertising the fact that he could "Make You Slim". So I thought to myself right Paul here is the challenge of a lifetime because I've tried everyting else and nothing has been working for me.

To be honest it's not been too bad because I can eat what I like if I follow some simple rules. I've been trying to go for a brisk 1.5hour walk a couple of times a week as well as half an hour of exercises every night. My youngest has been unwell for the past two weeks and lack of sleep and too much to do have become a very easy excuse to not exercise. This has resulted in a lack of weight loss this week. I'm needing some motivation gals:worship: as I will be 40 in just over a month and going to WDW two months tomorrow.

Sorry if that was a bit of a ramble...those of you who know me know that once I start I just can't stop:hyper::rotfl:

So, as I wrote above, I'm down 0.4 which is amazing given my weekend...which I'll get into detail about sometime in the near future. But I'm heading to the doc tomorrow since, as also mentioned above, I have the cold from, well, you know where.

Hope you're feeling better, and congrats on the loss!:goodvibes

I was supposed to go out Wed. and put it off because of the weather, and then yesterday wasn't any better so I didn't go out either. Today isn't looking any better so far. Ugh!
Hope the weather is much improved in your neck of the woods! :goodvibes

One of my co-workers pointed that out to me the other day. "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight."

Yes, I have. Own it! ;)

Congrats!! It's one road--first the loss and then the lifestyle. (I think I like that word better than maintenance. Maintenance sounds like something you do to a car.) Getting used to the new you sometimes takes some time, doesn't it?

I vow to turn on the wii today and play a little tennis. Once I get going, I find it's difficult to stop working out.
How has everyone been? Hope your week went well. :):):)
Your wii tennis sound like fun!! Hope your week went well, too! :thumbsup2

Hi Kirsteen, Welcome!! You've outlined some great goals, and some very good ways to attain them. This is a great place to share. :goodvibes

I continue to struggle? get used to? adjust to? the whole thing of lifestyle. My journey started in Oct 08. I started at 186 and I'm now at 142. Finding balance, feeling better about myself, finding more self confidence--it's a slow growing process. I am 5'1", so 44 lbs makes a huge difference. The biggest mistake I made was not finding support until now. I wish I'd have found the Shrinking Tinks ages ago. It helps me so much to read and share with others that are walking the same path. Thanks so much to my new friends.

I just wanted to stop by and say that the CM working at guest services desk at World of Disney today is my new favorite person in the world.

She was on the phone helping a customer while I was chatting with another CM about where I had been recently. When she got off, she said "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight."

AWESOME! I bet if we saw a current pic of you we'd be saying the same thing too. ::yes::

Once I get going, I find it's difficult to stop working out. Anyone else find that happen? It's just getting off of the couch to actually do it.

I'm hoping to get to that point some day. Right now I'm just happy when the exercise is ALL DONE. LOL!

I mean where else can you get Grey Goose slushies, school bread, and spicy cheese stuffed pretzels all in ONE day? :lmao:

Mmmmm...Disney. We should all LIVE in Disney. The World where calories don't count.

:wave2:Hey Folks is there room on this thread for a wee one???

2SP!!!! TK and I were just wondering where you were and how you were doing this past weekend. We miss you!!!

Weight: 161lbs (started the first week in Jan at 205lbs)

WOW! You're doing amazingly well so far!!! Congrats!

: I'm following the Paul McKenna tecnique

I won't laugh. I bought and read the book. While unfortunately it didn't work out for me I can see how it would work for others!

:I had sinusitis and went to the doctor for antibiotics and what popped up on the screen in big red letters and flashing lights and sirens and fireworks going off....a pop up saying OBESE :scared:

Yeah, those doctors, they're always just straight up honest. Never water anything down...:rotfl:

:Sorry if that was a bit of a ramble...those of you who know me know that once I start I just can't stop:hyper::rotfl:

There's nothing like a 2SP ramble. So good to have you back!!!

Maintenance sounds like something you do to a car.

LOL!

I did wonder if you guys would remember who I was;), I've been a bit of a lurkyloo this past while...don't know why maybe it's a midlife crisis:sad2:.

I'm pleased with how the plan's going and how it's fitting into my life. I think the exercise is the key though because I did no exercise this week and my loss was nada:guilty:, my own fault really. I'm kinda hoping that I'll be able to stick to it when we go to WDW 2MONTHS TODAY:yay: but I'm not getting overly confident because when I take into account all the places we're eating, snacks I want to try and cocktails I NEED to drink I can feel myself expand just thinking about it;):lmao:. BTW I managed to buy myself a really cute bikini on special...don't know if I'll be brave enough to wear it but it was a bargin and it fit so I had to have it;):lmao:

Are you kidding?!?! Of course!

Woohoo! You sexy mama!

Since we finally "officially" broke the news with our trip report, I can tell you that TK and I just got back from the World!!! And oh, I know ALL ABOUT all of the nommy snacks and drinks to try.

My personal recommendation: the Italian Margarita from Italy. NOMNOMNOM!

If any of the Shrinkers care to follow TK and my antics, the link is in my siggie.

Now to see how it impacts our until-now-secret trip affected my waistline. :scared1:

Hello, I just found this thread and would love to join to stay motivated.. I started 6 weeks ago and so far have lost 17.8 lbs doing weight watchers and lots of walking..

beginning weight 260.8
current weight 243 lbs
Height 5'2
age- 28
and diabetic so I really want to lose the weight

goal --190 lbs

One of my co-workers pointed that out to me the other day. "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight."

That's fantastic. Seriously, I don't know which is better. Looser clothing, or people noticing.

H Once I get going, I find it's difficult to stop working out. Anyone else find that happen? It's just getting off of the couch to actually do it.

I get that, plus the opposite. Once I stop for some reason, I find it difficult to get started again. :)

I weighed in and...back up to 203. :sad2: I knew all the tequila and pizza would catch up though. :rotfl: After my trip to Disney I'm really cracking down. Disney is so not the place for dieting! Way too much temptation. At least it makes you walk alot too.

:wave2:Hey Folks is there room on this thread for a wee one??? Well actually not so wee:blush:, that's why I'm here. :

Welcome!! Always room for one more.

AWESOME! I bet if we saw a current pic of you we'd be saying the same thing too. ::yes::

Maybe if I start feeling brave I'll try to post a pic. ;)

Forget you? Never!

I have one of those bikini's too. I'm determined to wear it one of these days.

Hello, I just found this thread and would love to join to stay motivated.

Well then, WELCOME! Have a banana!

I started 6 weeks ago and so far have lost 17.8 lbs doing weight watchers and lots of walking.

You and I will have a lot in common, then, as I follow WW (the points plan) and walking right now is my main form of exercise.

And 17.8lbs. in 6 weeks! That's awesome! I've been slowing down myself in the past couple of weeks (my own fault, not sticking as well to the plan, not walking as much, a recently-revealed-previously-secret trip to the World LOL) but I'm back in the game now!

Seriously, I don't know which is better. Looser clothing, or people noticing.

For me, it's the latter.

Now to become more gracious at accepting those compliments...

Maybe if I start feeling brave I'll try to post a pic. ;)

Oh please do! :goodvibes

Ugh. I am NOT looking forward to weigh-in Wednesday. It's going to be perfectly horrific. First there was the Disney vaca. Then being sick. And then totally not being good for the last week using being sick as my excuse.

And not a single walk since Disney.

Tomorrow may be bad. Very bad.

And while I'm so tempted to use my "Get Out Of Weigh-In Free" card, I'm really going to do my best not to. Not weighing in is not going to change the reality of what the scale (and my behavior has to say) and if nothing else, it'll be great motivation to get back on track.

I have a friend at work that started do WW with me and I really want to be a great example and be support for each other. Now, I can't likely do that if I'm not following the plan right?

Back on the horse, Tink. Back on the horse.

Hey, guys. Sort of jumping in, I apologize for not keeping up!

Just wanted to say I think I'm finally getting over this head cold and I've managed to get in two walks so far this week. The real sign will be when I can get back on the elliptical again. I'll let you all know when that happens. :thumbsup2

By popular demand I thought I'd post a picture of my progress so far. (Okay, it was only Tink who requested, but since she posted one of herself I couldn't very well refuse. ;)

This is my before pic. It was one of the pics that horrified me enough to do something.

DSC01724_opt.jpg

After that I lost about 50 lbs, and proceded to gain a ton of it back. Luckily not all. This is a pic from last summer, right about the time of my Disney trip.

DSC00937_opt.jpg

Which brings us current. I've been working out alot, but struggling with my eating. I'm always hungry. This is me, this week, before going out for a run.

BlueRunning_opt.jpg

I'm hating how I look weight wise in this pic, but honestly it's a bit better than I was expecting. (It was also a bit of a wake up call that I need to get to the hairdresser for a cut and color.:) ) It's not really any better than last summer, but hopefully I'm making progress.

Sometimes the worry is worse than the actual "thing"... stay strong Tinkerbellarealla and try not to beat yourself up too much. It won't change anything and will only make tomorrow harder so get back up on that horse and smile for all you've accomplished so far:cheer2:

Great advice. I need to follow that myself! :goodvibes

Wings, honey, I hope you'll take me seriously.

I think you look GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, that blue outfit is adorable! You're doing so well, and working so hard. I know you want to see this big huge change, and quite frankly, I see it! Just think of how the next time you'll post a picture, and how much more you'll have lost. :goodvibes It's harder to be objective about yourself, we always see what's wrong, and not what's right. Be proud, you are doing great!!!!!

Thanks TK. :goodvibes

I think I get hard on myself for gaining the weight back in the first place. I'm my own worst sabatouer.

I've been spending way too much money on workout clothing lately. It's a sickness. I especially love all my running skirts. So much better than running shorts. The blue outfit I managed to snag from the discount rack at Target. I just :lovestruc the clearance section at Target.

Hey you look great I can tell youv'e lost... this weeks weigh in was 1.4 down for me..let me figure out how to post pics and I will put up a before and a so far pic..lol

Winged One stop being so hard on yourself I could see the difference in the pics and it's a real achievement you've made. Yes you may not be where you ultimately want to be but none of us are and you're looking fabby so be proud of how you look and where you are on your plan:hug:

Tink :goodvibes for tonight, you may be pleasantly surprised but if you're not then at least you'll know the score and gain some renewed motivation...and let's be honest you'll have had a blast putting on any weight you've gained so I'm sure the juice was worth the squeeze:rotfl2:

Oh, I totally bought a whole bunch of new workout clothing. I used some gift cards, which was great, and some was my money, but it really helps me perk up for a workout to put on my sporty duds from Old Navy, let me tell you. Anything to get motivated! :thumbsup2

Congrats on being down!

Sounds weird, but I mean it. :goodvibes

so I'm sure the juice was worth the squeeze:rotfl2:

You come out with some great expressions, but that has got to be one of the best! :lmao:
