What a great addition to your stash. I really like the Chip & Dale one. I haven't seen that one before. C&D are my DD's favorite.

When we were at Disney, she was near tears at one point. I think my oldest had wondered off, for the millionth time, to talk to a CM, because he was obsessed about getting picked for the Year of a Million Dreams. It really embarassed her. Anyway, C&D came out of door near her, and Dale saw her and went over and gave her a kiss. It really made her day. Wish we would have gotten a photo of it, but it was really unexpected.

Post birthday recovery in progress :rolleyes1
Here is some pics of the birthday girl:

Looks like she had a great b-day. I love the second photo here.

Hello again, I had posted earlier about looking for a mickey head template. I believe you stated it was in the bookmarks on the 1st post?? I am having trouble finding it there. Can you tell me what category to look at? Thanks

I'm not Teresa but look in the group photobucket account. It tells how to get there in the bookmarks.

I have outfit number one done for our trip!
I almost hate to post it with all the beautiful things posted today!
I am not completely happy with it. I guess I am a little rusty! I haven't sewn any clothing items since way before Christmas!
I hope my next one turns out better!

Sorry for such a lousy photo! The lighting in my sewing "cave" isn't that great once the daylight leaves!I still have a few more to go!
How many more days?!?
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

You are being too modest--that dress is adorable!

PPHEW!!! No swirlies!!! :rotfl: ;)

Why, yes, she is a very sweet little girl!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yes, she is.

Thanks! I am in the process of making "lifestyle changes" myself (I don't like the words diet and excerise :P) I have actually gone from a size 12 to an 8 since October

Congratulations. I agree with you on the "lifestyle" part. I'm just finding it hard to make that stick. I lost 35lbs between Feb-June last year, and kept it all off until Halloween. I gained about 5 back between Halloween and our Disney trip, but was very happy not to gain ANYTHING at Disney. We were at Disney for 8 days, plus 4 days of driving (with fast food.) But I think I've gained another 5 since we got back. I needed to lose another 35 to be where I want to be....hopefully before summer! I've been really stressed out the past couple of months, and I have a bad habit of eating when I'm stressed.

While we were home for Christmas I left all of my jewelry at my parent's house. It really annoys me! I don't have my wedding or engagement ring or my charm bracelet (w/ my kids on it). I will see my parents when we go to my sister's house in Chicago in February so I will get them then. But in the meantime I feel naked! Now a really good question would be why is a person who hates winter, being cold, and snow going to Chicago the first week in February? I need to get my head checked!

I think that myself every day between about Oct 1-May 1.

OH MY GOODNESS!

I FOUND IT!!!!

Ok, I just said a prayer to Jehovah to please help me find my ring, and I went into my bathroom, pulled open the drawer, and there it was! I have NO idea at all how it got in there! I would think if Brian found it he would have told me?? :confused3

I think another prayer is in order!

I'm so happy!!!

I'm so glad you found your ring. The power of prayer is awesome.
My hubby lost his ring at our 1 yr. anniversary in a lake. We renewed our vows when he got another one.

I think it worked this time!
Here is the pj's I made Nikki with my 1st real applique on it!

th_IMG_0726-1.jpg
And because she is cute and for some reason has to get into every picture I take!

As you can see the applique isn't great but for the 1st one and not having the right heat n bond so my thread broke a lot I am ok with it1
I actually went to the store and got the right stuff yesterday:banana: So I think I am going to make Kyle some pj's!

I love how excited Nikki is about everything you make her!!! :lovestruc These are so cute!!!!! I'm so glad your pictures started showing up for you!!! One thing you might want to do though, is to put each picture on it's own line. That way they don't stretch so far across the page.

Number 2 is DONE!

I stayed up most of the night to finish it.

I am going back to bed. I work nights so I usually sleep during the day anyway. And, since I have to work tonight, I better get a little more sleep.

I really do like this one! It looks so much better in person. The bright snow in the background made the pictures too dark. I wasn't about to find a brighter spot outside though in my pj's;)

Once I can get Leighanna to model these, I am sure they will look perfect!

Umm, WOW!!!! Ok, you see I wish you would STOP posting Feliz pictures!! Because everytime I see one you make, I WANT that pattern! They are so gorgeous!

Teresa - So glad you found your ring! I totally agree about Brook looking older. I thought so and I see the difference and I am her mom. Usually you don't notice it so much when you are seeing someone everyday. Just over the last month it seems that she looks so different ;)

At first I thought she might have gotten different glasses, but those are the same ones, aren't they? I just can't put my finger on it, but she is definitely growing up! :sad2:

Hi - love all your outfits and cute kids!!! I have a question - when you make the top that is with the skirt - what pattern is that? or did you modify something else????

I got some knits to try today with my serger! Any tips from anyone? Also, when you are making a ribbed cuff or neckline, how long do you make the piece of ribbing?

Thanks, Wendy

You need Carla's Raglan shirt pattern!!! It is WONDERFUL!!! It is super easy to do, similar to a peasant top, but easier to me, because there is no elastic! (I hate putting in elastic!)

Tom! I really really LOVE both the dresses! This one is cute! But I LOVE Minnie! Actually I love them both, just not as fond of princesses. I really can't wait to meet you, your wife and Leighanna. I tell my DH all the time that I wish he was more like you.

How did that go over??

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have to thank you all, I just completed Carla C's A-line top and never finished a top so quickly, or without having to remove seams!!!!!!!!!! (well almost - I still have to do the buttons and button holes, but I only have two bobbins and don't want to waste a whole bunch of thread swiching colors until I finish the second top)

THANKS

Emily

WOO HOO!!! Where are those pictures???

Mom is coming over for a swim and the house is trashed!!!:scared1: .

Where are you going swimming?

Thanks everyone for your comments about my ring! It's fun to hear everyone elses story about lost rings too!

Hi Guys,

Would 30, 6" squares be enough for a rag quilt? also, will flannel work for a rag quilt (to fuzzy) or does it need to be regular fabric????

thanks!!

Hi everyone, don't mean to intrude! But I'm searching for dresses for my DD's 2nd birthday party in April. Our theme is Minnie. I came across a super cute pink Minnie pillowcase dress on ebay that I want to get her. My question is..do you think it's okay to pair one of those with a shrug type sweater? It's never warm in April here and I love the dress so much.

That would work for a doll I think. I made 3 lap quilts for presents for Christmas and used 30 11" squares. Flannel works great.

To decide how many you need take the size of the square and subtract 1" all around for seams (a 5" square becomes 4X4) Then decide how wide you want the quilt. If you want it 48" wide, you will need 12 squares. How long do you want it? 60" long is 15 squares. Then multiply length by width. 12 X 15 = 180 squares.

I used 11" because you can get 4 of them from a 44" wide material. They were a nice size.

I think that would be fine...I would also suggest layering it over a turtleneck. Of course, you live in a trendier part of the country than I do so I may be giving horrible advice.:rotfl:

 I always feel choked in a turtleneck so I just don't put them on DD. She did get one for Christmas though so I could try it on and see!

Adorable!

Hey when you come to visit maybe we can meet up? I am just outside of Chicago????

That would be fun. I'd be in too if I could make it work.

I lost one of your quotes, but you asked where I'm at. We're in St. Charles, but west of the city limits. I was in Woodstock once, a long time ago, for a Martha Pullen class.

Another winner! It's beautiful.

I've seen rag quilts made from flannel at my quilt shop, and they gorgeous and look so cuddly.

Yeah, I can't believe I finally caught up. The worst thing about being so far behind is you keep coming across all your own posts (and I kept seeing all my typos and other blunders.)

I REALLY need to get back to my house now. It still hasn't recovered from the frantic sewing before our trip, Christmas, everyone being sick for so long, and then pushing to get back to school. I really want to get it back in shape before DH gets home.

I would also suggest laying over a long sleeve tee or turtleneck instead of a shrug. Pillowcase dresses are tied at the shoulders and that might look odd with a shrug. Also, that's a lot of bulkiness under the arms (from the elastic of the pillowcase and the bottom of the shrug)...just a thought

Here is a close up of a pillowcase dress so you get a visual of what I mean

Not that I need anymore fabric......... and I should be sewing with what I have;)

But Joanns has the calico wall at 50% which means all those wonderful polka dots are 2.00 a yard!!!

I just went and saved 90.00 (Never mind how much I spent LOL:rolleyes1 )

Thanks for posting the pic..I think the turtleneck plays it down too much making it look too casual for the party (no offense..it's still super cute on your DD!) I wonder if I tie the ribbons at the top to make them somewhat flat (not bows), if that would work. Hmmm, I'll still order it since I know she'll end up wearing it in the Summer!

Thanks everyone for your comments about my ring! It's fun to hear everyone elses story about lost rings too!

DH called me one night from the ski hill to tell me he lost his ring. He had helped someone that day and he figured his ring came off when he took off his gloves. He did go back and try to find it, but hours later on a ski hill :rotfl2: ? The next day he was leaving and found his ring in the car top carrier where the skis go. It must have fallen off up there. He now wears his ring on his right hand, that finger is just a little bit bigger. He refused to get it resized, something about them cutting out part of the ring:confused3 .

I just got back from my quick trip to JoAnns....two hours later.... I have a shiny new assortment of fleece solids...50% off, a couple of Calicos....50% off, some yarn also on sale... I had a gift card from Christmas... The only thing I got not on sale was Sticky Stabilizer and I got that half off with a coupon.
I went $1.96 over my gift card :) not to bad.

The parking lot was a full, but the line to pay was about 20 minutes long, winding all the way to the back of the store.
I was anti-social playing games on my phone while I waited.

But I am home and now realized all the things I should have picked up while I was there... :( Ugh. Oh Well, next time

Oh yes I remember now. So I went and looked in photobucket. Again there is so much to lookk through. I looked at Mickey and Mickey head photos but didn't see a template. I am sorry to be a pain but can help narrow down my search. I sure appreciate it. I have my fabric bought and am anxious to get started.
