THANKS so much to everyone that commented on my things. I love to sew so I have been sewing for friends and family. **Hopefully** my DH and I will be able to have a baby in the next year or two (we just started trying) - so your thoughts and prayers would be very much appreciated! Not that we want children for this reason, but I think I'll feel I fit in here a little more when I have babies of my own to show off in my customs ;)

Here are the ones I got! Enjoy!!

You could spends days there looking and find new things!!

I am soooo sooooo soooo jealous! What amazing finds, I would have a field day in that place - the stores in Miami and the Metro DC area I lived in when I started sewing last year don't/didn't have any of that great stuff and barely have anything! I am amazed and so envious!

And who here is tempted (like me) to go and buy a set of sheets from Pottery Barn Kids right now from the Dr. Seuss bedding set? I have seen the fabric that was printed but is now out of print on :wizard: and always loved it but it is too expensive. Not that these sheets are that much cheaper but I am so tempted to buy a set and make outfits for my girls. If anyone else is going to do this I have a quick question.....do you think a crib sheet would be enough if you mixed it in with other fabrics? I have 3 girls and I always tend to overbuy but this is so expensive I hate the thought of buying too much (like there is such a thing!!!).

A crib sheet will have about 2 yards of fabric in it, so you would need to be mixing it with other fabrics to have enough for all 3 girls.

Today is my niece's birthday and my sister called me and asked me if I could make Kelsey a cake that had something to do with Twilight on it. So I went looking for pictures of Bella and Edward that were drawn. This is the cake that I came up with.
th_1231625927.jpg

In person Edward doesn't look that odd. I couldn't get a good angle to take the picture.

My sister said that Kelsey was so excited when she saw the cake that she had tears in her eyes. Everybody at the party loved the cake.

That is a GREAT cake! You are a very cool aunt.

Okay, I only have time for a few more before I've got to go get some work done. I have an outfit I've got to finish by Monday. I just lack the motivation at the moment to actually do it.
th_100_0700-1.jpg

All of your outfits have been great, but I just love this. I've been thinking about a Steamboat Willie outfit for a while because dh loves him so much he has the girls hooked on it.

This is the sew-along that I used for the Feliz. It's pretty good.

Does anyone know how UN FUN it is to try and look at this thread without pictures! For some reason the pictures aren't showing. I have been sick all day in bed and thought what fun it would be to catch up, but it just isn't the same.

I hope you got it fixed. I have no patience for computer problems.

Just wanted to drop by and give an update. I'm putting this in the mail tonight for Becca's big give. I hope they have a GREAT trip!

(please excuse the glare of the lights on my dining room table!)

Very cute!

Hi all! Just stopping by to say hello! I have been so super busy this last week I don't even know which way is up! You would think the kids going back to school would slow things down...NO!

We celebrated Patrick's birthday Sunday. He had a Star Wars theme...this is his cake...sad huh? I was trying for light sabers...he told me which ones...Count Douku and Aniken...this was the best I could do...:lmao:

th_PC310243.jpg
And I love this kid...he gets sooo excited about EVERY gift!

My son would love a light saber cake. He lives and breathes Star Wars. The crayon tote and walker bag came out great as well.

Love the jammies. The dress is cute. You can always have her wear a necklace to fill in the space on the shirt above the jumper. Does she have a heart?

Two yards.........hmm, I might not sure if that will do it for me. I know I will want to mix it with other fabrics but for three girls, I'm just not sure. And I know that if I bought two of them that would be more than enough but then I am so close in price to just buying a twinset of sheets and having lots extra. You can never have enough fabric, right? :rotfl:

Yesterday when I was out I drove past a warehouse type building that said fabric outlet open to the public, I had seen it before nut never had time to stop. I had a little time so I thought I would check it out! I walked in and nearly fainted! :cloud9: I got all tingly. It was the most fabric I had ever seen!! I looked around and found some fabrics I had never seen before. They had chip and dale cotton knit, Incredibles flannel, some many my wallet was spinning!! There were many I had seen before and wish I had boughten and then never seen again! You cut everything yourself and then put it back. AND it is all cheap like $2.50 to $3.50 a yard!! It's like a treasure hunt!! Any way I got out there for under $50, I was proud of my self for showing such restraint!! :rolleyes1 I can take pictures if anyone is interested ;)
Where was the warehouse? Was it in the metro area? I would be curious to know if it is close by:goodvibes

Going back to comment but did everyone see this??? They made a make-your-own-DisneyT place at DTD. Opens tomorrow

I LOVE the skirt fabrics!

We had two trips in December. Our first was to WDW and then one to Idaho for Christmas. WDW was wonderful, we had a great time until we had to take our baby boy to the hospital for 105 fever. He was sick for 3 days and then some more at home. Thankfully, he has fully recovered.

th_1DisneyLastDay009.jpg

That must have been so scary to have your baby in a strange hospital. I'm glad he's feeling better. I love the picture of your daughter. That outfit is so spunky & sassy & cute.

My computer is giving me fits lately! I really do want a new laptop (I have a desktop right now) but I hate the thought of spending money on it. This silly machine keeps getting bogged down even though we keep erasing cookies. I have no idea why we are getting so many. We have Norton (and it's on) but it's not doing it's job for some reason!

I did want to let everyone know that I kept part of my New Year's Resolution...I actually went and worked out today. And boy am I old and out of shape! I did 30 minutes on the treadmill (walking, not running, at 3.8 mph) and then 30 minutes on a bike and I am wiped out and sore! That is horrible! I think I'm sore only b/c I have a funny walk (according to my DH) and must do something funny with my right hip/leg. So when I walk on a treadmill for a length of time my hip gets sore. And I am so excited about this (this is why I feel old), I figured out my DH's IPod. How sad, the things have only been around forever and I'm just figuring it out! Then I met with my trainer (please say prayers for me about this - I don't want him to make me puke in public!!!!:rotfl2: ) and he says to text him. Umm, I don't text. First off, I'm too old and totally not up to date on things like that. And doesn't it seem backwards to have a phone that you use to "write" a letter on instead of talking? And I'm too cheap to add it to my phone service. Plus his girlfriend made me her friend on facebook and I just realized that they are 10 years younger than me! Yikes! They are babies! He has some idea that I am going to get on a scale so we can chart my progress - not going to happen! I don't let me DH see the scale when I'm on it, this kid certainly isn't going to see it. Oh well, at least I went today!

I also went today and bought fabric for Valentine's Day and fabric for just another outfit - not holiday related. I'm not wild about the V-Day fabric I bought and now I'm kind of regretting it. Does anyone else ever do this and then later think, why? Oh well, I've got it now so I guess I'll use it.

I really want a laptop too and am waiting because of the money. I wanted to let you know that you're not the only one behind the technology curve. I tried to text for the first time in Dec. I tried to text my brother while we were driving home from Disney, and I was bored in the car. It wouldn't go through. Well, I found out after I got home, that I didn't have a texting package. I had a different package that I never used. So I traded. I have discovered that being able to text comes in handy and I've used it a lot lately, even though I'm rarely on the phone.

Thank you very much, this helps me visualize a little, but not completely since they didnt add any additional text- for example it just says add ruffles to the back of the underdress to embellish- but howdo I attach them. I mean I knew how to make a ruffle- but I have only attached ruffles to the bottom hem of a dress, and never rows of them...
I see now I need to check my elastic inventory.
It also says "size to fit" for the back of the underdress- but how on earth do you do that with just a piece of the pattern- not the whole dress capable of being tried on....
I already bought my fabric, so theres no going back now.
I have the StudioTantrum pattern

Note- I have very little experience sewing ruffles as I don't have a girl of my own to sew for. This is how I attached them. I made my ruffle (hemmed the bottom and sides). I put right sides together, but the ruffle hem was going toward the top of the dress (does that make sense?). After I attached it that way, I turned it down and pressed the seam. I then topstitched. I have no idea if this is correct, just what I did. . .

I learned a lot when I made the first one. I am ready to do another one because I think that I can improve A LOT!

ETA- I didn't add elastic to the back because I didn't know how much. I added a few rows of shirring. I thought that it could grow that way as well.

Good for you working out! I really need to do that too! No trainer for me, other than the guy on my Wii Fit! And, I find the Wii Fit too judgemental, so I can't imagine having a REAL trainer! "Teresa, I haven't seen you in awhile, where have you been? You shoud train everyday Teresa. You seem a little unbalanced today.." It's that last one that I find most offensive! :snooty:

Judgemental, that's an understatement. At least your trainer didn't lay on the ground having a tantrum. (In my defense, there are some things I rock at on there, like boxing, but I CANNOT do the soccer AT ALL.

We have this sweet and wonderfull lady at my church. She has been battling numerous cancers, everything but breast cancer. She was doing great and just all of a sudden she has taken a turn for the worse. She has 3 girls and her youngest is 6. We have been told it should be in a couple of days, they have started giving her morphin drops under the tongue. This was in my e-mail today.
They have hospice coming to the Hardin Home now to take care of Karri. Continue to pray for family. All of her family is there with them and they are so thankful for all of the visitors, but are treasuring this time visiting together as a family.
I know this family really needs all the prayers out there right now. Also the church family could use it to. She was a strong faithfull lady, and it's hard to see the girls going through this.
Thanks

This is so sad. Praying here.

I have no clue about Wii, but I wanted to tell you, last year when I was on my exercise kick (I was in a Biggest Loser type competition) I really liked Billy Blank (Tae Bo) workout videos for the days I didnt get to the gym. In the nice weather I would combine it with a walk around the neighborhood later in the day (2 miles which includes steep incline)

I am so tired of this weather! Ice storms, and no sun for weeks and weeks. Today the sky looks clear- but still bleak out there and still snow-ice, but not enough to make it look pristine, I hate this part, when the plows and stuff have made everything brown....
On a good note--I had my ultrasound and....drum roll please......

Its Going to be a GIRL!
So this means I will eventually be able to do matching outfits for 2 little girls. How fun! I think our next trip will be when the second baby is 1yr. Baby is moving and everything checked out perfectly at the ultrasound. Im 35 so they sent me to a "High Risk" Dr- gee, there's a vote of confidence.

I am looking for a CRADLE pattern- not Crib-and I can not find it. If anyone out there knows where I can find this type of nursery pattern please let me know..

My pubic bone has been bothering me more (Im 5 months now), discomfort walking in grocery store the other day, and pinching/aching when sleeping at night, sitting on couch, etc. I am going in for an earlier than planned adjustment to see if that helps. I was signed up for a noon to midnight sewing class saturday, but it was cancelled. I was so bummed. But Im determined to do some sewing today! My Godfather lost his beautiful home in the San Diego wildfires and I want to make a simple patchwork quilt for him out of Cival War reproduction fabrics
I am also planning to embark on a King sized quilt for myself out of batiks.
Here's the quilt- mine will be in different colors of course- Im doing more of a watercolor look
Judy10.gif

Also, if you could keep my Dad in your prayers. His back is really bothering him- he has a compression fracture and is starting to be more convinced his bones are being affected by the hormone treatments for cancer (his oncologist has NOT indicated this, but his orthopedic did. He is facing another hormone treatment in a week or so and is not looking forward to it. He seems to be depressed.

One more thing!! I know I have asked this question before- but the Cindy applique dress and the Mickey-Minnie winter dress, thats Aline in the front and ruffled in back- what pattern is that? Was it a challenge to make?

I have the TaeBo DVD's. I agree that they are a better workout, but they are really hard to jump into if you are out of shape at all. Plus, I found the moves needed a little more coordination than I seem to have at the moment.

I'm totally with you being tired of winter, snow, ice, cold, and no sun!

Congratuations on your healthy, growing, baby girl!!!

I'm sorry that your Grandfather lost his house. It's sweet of you to make him a quilt.

Praying for your dad. My dad had a lot of pain in his back too, when he had cancer. I hope your dad's is just from his fracture.

Minnie2 are you trying to post the photo?

Cute flower.

I have outfit number one done for our trip!
I almost hate to post it with all the beautiful things posted today!
I am not completely happy with it. I guess I am a little rusty! I haven't sewn any clothing items since way before Christmas!
I hope my next one turns out better!

Sorry for such a lousy photo! The lighting in my sewing "cave" isn't that great once the daylight leaves!

I still have a few more to go!
How many more days?!?

My goodness, I've gotten really rusty at posting. I can't seem to get all of my pics the same size and I've got a ton of double posts. Sorry! Hopefully this gets a bit easier with time. Anway, here's a few more. Okay, I promise, no swirly face this time LMBO!

My favorite pic from the trip!

PPHEW!!! No swirlies!!! :rotfl: ;)

I LOVE the Steamboat Willie set!! that is just so cute!!! And, so are your kids! Is that you in your husband in one of the pictures? Here, I was thinking I knew what you looked like, but I don't think I did at all! What a cute family you guys are!

Here are the ones I got! Enjoy!!
And this is a knit:

They also had a bambi print that looked like it was for a nursery. It had light yellow and blue diamonds, they had some star wars and other pooh prints.
You could spends days there looking and find new things!!

OOOH! I need this one!!! I just checked, and the store is ONLY 9 1/2 hours from my house!!! :rotfl:

Thanks so much everyone. It's so good to be back.

I just wanted to let you know that the swirlies & spots were driving ME crazy too so I went back and put normal pics in their place. However, my boys are going through a goofy smile stage so it only adds a moderate improvement. :scared: Also, I'm quite possibly the world's most overprotective mom, and I can't help but get nervous every time I post pics of the kiddos online, so please what's posted here stays here....pretty please???

I can't wait to catch up and get reaquainted with you all again. It's been too long.

No worries! Like Crystal said, we decided no one posts your pictures anywhere else. If you want to add them to our Group Photobucket account though, that would be great. It isn't public, you need the password to see the picures. If you don't want to, no problem!

The fabulous fabric place is in Minnesota. I think it's Brooklyn park. I grabbed a business card, let me check

Yep Brooklyn Park
Here is the Website:

Thank you Anna! Like I said, just a short 9 1/2 hour drive for me!

I need a little advice on American Girl stuff too...

My girls got Samantha for Christmas and for Valentine's Day I ordered the Samantha chair and table set and one of her beds. We have two dolls (one for Grace and one for Claire - poor Lilly didn't get one but if it causes problems I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!) should I order a second Samantha bed or wait and order a different doll's bed? I am worried that the girls will fight over whose doll gets the bed. I'm not normally this indulgent with my kids but since the line is being retired I don't want to regret not buying it. I figure eventually they will get a new doll and I can always order that doll's bed so we will have two beds. And I do really hate to spend money on toys but these are special and I do want them to enjoy them so any suggestions I would appreciate!

Oh, and my in-laws bought them Fancy Nancy dolls for Christmas. I was comparing them to the AG dolls and they look about the same size. Do you think they could wear the same size clothes when I get around to making them?

Well, how are both Samantha's going to go to bed at night with just ONE bed??? :confused3 Goodness Benita! :rotfl2:

Sorry, I'm no help at all, am I!
Post birthday recovery in progress :rolleyes1
It seems birthdays around here last a week! Brookie had a school party and family party and a Princess Tea Party today. I got up early to clean and set up and decorate and we had a great time but I am sooo exhausted now!

Here is some pics of the birthday girl:

Why is Brooklyn looking so much older! It's like she's growing up right before our eyes!

Thank you very much, this helps me visualize a little, but not completely since they didnt add any additional text- for example it just says add ruffles to the back of the underdress to embellish- but howdo I attach them. I have the StudioTantrum pattern

I have the sew alongs that were posted in the bookmarks, and I know there is one for putting elastic in the side area to make it fit better. I think they are all under the "dresses" category, but doing a search for Feliz might be the easiest way to find them.

I was thinking that I would like this pattern too, but I'm just not sure I want to spend the money on it. Especially without really good directions and having to trace it myself. So, I've been studying a lot of the sew alongs for it!

I have to tell this to ya'll cause I know you all will appreciate this one. Today DH and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of things. So we were walking down the food section walkway I notice that they had an end cap that filled from top to bottom half with Tomato soup and the other half with ..... Chicken Noodle Soup. Tons of it. Just sitting there waiting to be grabbed by the nearest DH with a sick wife. So his rebuttal was this, "They must have just put that there." Yeah sure. So then we go down the isle that has all of the soup and there is a big spot filled with Chicken Noodle Soup. His reply, "Why are so picky about what kind of soup you want?" Men!! They don't understand anything. I swear if I was taller I wouldn't need one. :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope everything works out and this time next year you will have a little baby!

Does she have a heart?

Why, yes, she is a very sweet little girl!

I am SOO excited to have stumbled upon this thread!!!! Super cute ideas!!!!

That dress is adorable Tom!!!!
Thanks Cindee!

The skirt you posted earlier was cute too!

Leighanna doesn't do to well with the skirts (it sure would make my sewing projects quicker). She either hikes them way up, or pulls them way down.
I have come to realize that I have to make some sort of jumper for her that will stay up all day!

Ok I have been on these boards for over a year how come I never found out about all of you guys that sew?!?!?!?!!

I do mainly quilting, but also make some little girls outfits from time to time, and other home decor type projects. I'm currently finishing up my baby bedding for my son, who decided to arrive 2.5 months early, so I didn't have the opportunity to finish it!. I just have the bedskirt and crib quilt left to finish, and a diaper bag, which is about halfway done. Designing as you go takes alot longer than a pattern!! lol

Here's a link to my blog of craft stuff I make. I can't wait to go back and read more of this thread but with over 200 pages it's gonna take me awhile!:rotfl:

www.allthingscrafty.blogspot.com

Welcome! I checked out your blog, and your quilts are really pretty!

Why are men incapable of buying Chicken Noodle Soup? I am still feeling horrible and don't have much of an appetite right now. Last night I asked DH to pick up some Chicken Noodle soup while he was at Wal-Mart last night. Well he brings home some kind of Chicken soup that is not Chicken Noodle soup. :headache: The last time I was sick he brought home Progresso Chicken Noodle soup that I am not fond of at all. When I was with Jenna's dad I got real sick and I asked the same request of him and he brings back Cream of Chicken Noodle soup. So my question is what is so hard about buying Chicken Noodle Soup? Ok rant over.

I was watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta (guilty pleasure) and Ed Hartwell the NFL player made his wife chicken soup from SCRATCH when she was sick. I gave Mark a lot of grief over that one.

I deleted too much and lost my quote. I love the hippo!!! What do you think was the first thing my 5-year-old asked Santa for this year when he sat on his lap. A hippo. I kid you not. From the song. Santa didn't get it, just looked at me like my kid was nuts. :sad2:

The princess dresses are adorable. Your tree was very pretty too.

[
I think i may have sold my 1st item with out even trying or planning:scared1: Nik's last yr teacher whom I adore told her yesterday that she would love to buy the hat i made nik. Well a hat just like it. I just laughed it off and didn't think too much about it. Well i saw her at the school today and she told me she was serious! she would love to buy one and how much would it be.:scared1:

Very cool.

I thnk it's a really good work out. I am usually quite sore the next day!

Stupid scary commercials! I think the one that is really freking me out lately is for "Unborn". There should be a law against those things! It was on the other day before the kids went to bed even! They go to bed around 8, so it wasn't very late!

I hate that too!!! I just tell it to shut up!

How frustrating!!! I can't complain though, because when I'm sick, Brian makes me homemade chicken noodle soup!

See, another guy that's not afraid to cook!

I don't watch scary movies either. The kid from the Unborn is from my area. There was a big article about him in our newspaper.

Judgemental, that's an understatement. At least your trainer didn't lay on the ground having a tantrum. (In my defense, there are some things I rock at on there, like boxing, but I CANNOT do the soccer AT ALL.

I really stink at the soccer too! I like the punching bag best. left right left block left right left block I can do that! Although, when it tells me to duck, I sometimes get confused!

I hope all of you don't mind but I just had to share this picture. I think it is so sweet. I love how I captured the castle just as it was changing colors.

Beautiful picture. Nice touch on the sleeves.

Finished up the latest quilt last night. This is the top sheet. I have to send it to my aunt for her to quilt, just do the binding when it comes back. I am quite happy with myself, as it is only my 2nd quilt on my own. Just started this stuff last year.

Gorgeous quilt.

I have been working on this dress for over a month and I'm finally DONE! I couldn't wait to show it to you, so I'll have to post more pictures of Tessa modeling it after school. I don't usually love the stuff I make, but I love this dress! I have never seen Tessa love something I have made as much as she loves this dress. I was just about bursting with happines when I saw how happy it made her. Usually she's sort of indifferent about the stuff I make and will try it on to make my happy, if I'm lucky. But, she actually wanted to wear this one to bed! That didn't happen.

Amazing dress, no wonder she didn't want to take it off.
