I have outfit number one done for our trip!
I almost hate to post it with all the beautiful things posted today!
I am not completely happy with it. I guess I am a little rusty! I haven't sewn any clothing items since way before Christmas!
I hope my next one turns out better!

Disneyoutfits2009002.jpg

Sorry for such a lousy photo! The lighting in my sewing "cave" isn't that great once the daylight leaves!

I still have a few more to go!
How many more days?!?

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

TOM!! This dress is great, don't see why you're unhappy!! I can only dream of Applique-ing like that! Plus, your fabric combos are super cute!

Thanks Cindee!

The skirt you posted earlier was cute too!

Leighanna doesn't do to well with the skirts (it sure would make my sewing projects quicker). She either hikes them way up, or pulls them way down.
I have come to realize that I have to make some sort of jumper for her that will stay up all day!

oooh to Morgan "Jumper" is a BAD word LOL. (In her defense she had to wear the heavy plaid jumper everyday to school and HATED it). If it helps at all-the double ruffle spinny skirts take forever to make. I hand pin the gathers. I often think how fast I could put together a jumper. But then it would take me a LONG time to applique.

So how many days do you have left? Are you doing an outfit a day?

MY WEDDING RING IS GONE!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

I looked down awhile ago, and my ring is GONE! I have NO idea what could have happened! I never ever ever take it off, and it certainly wasn't lose. I have been searching the house, but I can't find it! I am so upset!

Oh NO!!!! Were you outside today at all? Maybe stuck in a glove or something? How about the car? When was the last time you saw it ? Maybe stuck in the sheets? Washer? Dryer? Oh My!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you find it!!!!!

Bill lost his wedding ring when we were tubing down the delaware river a few years ago - he stuck his hand under a rock (why you would do that i have no idea) and it just got sucked off his finger!!!!!!! :scared1: :rotfl2:

Thanks guys! It's been so nasty today, I haven't stepped outside. I can't remember the last time I had it on for sure. It's just ALWAYS on, I had to stare at my finger for awhile to even process the thought that it wasn't there!

Brian lost his ring once while he was outside. He found it years later while he was rototilling the garden! I couldn't believe it when he came in and showed me!

OH MY GOODNESS!

I FOUND IT!!!!

Ok, I just said a prayer to Jehovah to please help me find my ring, and I went into my bathroom, pulled open the drawer, and there it was! I have NO idea at all how it got in there! I would think if Brian found it he would have told me?? :confused3

I think another prayer is in order!

I'm so happy!!!

There's probably not a "bad" look for you. Meanwhile, I'm thinking I need to go back on a diet.
Thanks! I am in the process of making "lifestyle changes" myself (I don't like the words diet and excerise :P) I have actually gone from a size 12 to an 8 since October

Very adorable! I don't know what you don't like about it though. It looks perfect from here and your applique is wonderful! Fantastic job!

Well, how are both Samantha's going to go to bed at night with just ONE bed??? :confused3 Goodness Benita! :rotfl2:

Sorry, I'm no help at all, am I!

I swear I'm not normally like this. I'm really not a "toy" person. But I can honestly see this being an issue (and I usually make my girls figure it out) and I'm kind of leaning towards the idea that they will get another doll (probably Kit) sometime and I'll buy the bed for that doll and it won't be a big deal. Right?

Thanks Cindee!

I totally agree with this. My kids seem to yank on their skirts all day long, so dresses are just easier!

How lucky is that, he found it years later? Wow!

I'm so happy!!!

I was reading this just getting ready to suggest a prayer to St. Anthony but I'm glad you already found it. Wow! Did Brian move it or did you?

While we were home for Christmas I left all of my jewelry at my parent's house. It really annoys me! I don't have my wedding or engagement ring or my charm bracelet (w/ my kids on it). I will see my parents when we go to my sister's house in Chicago in February so I will get them then. But in the meantime I feel naked! Now a really good question would be why is a person who hates winter, being cold, and snow going to Chicago the first week in February? I need to get my head checked!

I'm so glad you found it!! That must have been a terrible scare!

Love all the outfits posted today! They are gorgeous!

Tom , that minnie dress is sweet! I love it!

and that Twilight cake looks scrumptios. My dd13 wants one for her birthday...think you can whip one up and send it to North Carolina next month?

I want to go to that fabric store. It is forever away from here, so I won't be going any time soon! I really want that chip and dale stretch knit. I have no stretch knits...

Happy Birthday Brooklyn .. a little belated. Evertime dd5 sees a pic of Brooklyn she thinks it is a pic of herself. Well, dd13 is sitting here and thought she looked a lot like her sister.

lil_ragamuffins I love all the outfits! You did a great job! And I am glad to see all there beautiful faces and no swirlies! I want to make dresses like that one day!

Coat is 95% done. I have to hem the sleeves and make some little flowers....not so sure about the flowers though. May have to go without them.. We will see. I plan to be done with it tomorrow so we can take it with u to Virgnina when we finally bring MIL home. She has been with us since Dec 20!

Thanks! I am in the process of making "lifestyle changes" myself (I don't like the words diet and excerise :P) I have actually gone from a size 12 to an 8 since October

That's great!

1.)I swear I'm not normally like this. I'm really not a "toy" person. But I can honestly see this being an issue (and I usually make my girls figure it out) and I'm kind of leaning towards the idea that they will get another doll (probably Kit) sometime and I'll buy the bed for that doll and it won't be a big deal. 1.)I'm a toy person. I LOVE dolls. Perhaps more than my girls do, actually! (HEATHER called Samantha UGLY right to her FACE! I was stunned!) If you think the girls will be ok with just the one bed, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But, if you get Kit, won't you have three dolls? One of those poor dolls is going to be bedless!

2.)I have NO IDEA how the ring could possibly ended up in that drawer! I just asked Brian, and he didn't put it there. I had the kids helping me look, so I know they didn't do it. I think the ring has been off my finger maybe 5 times in the last 20 years, so taking it off is just not something I do! I'm wondering if I did it in my sleep?? :confused3

3.) Girl, you are going the WRONG way! February is a NASTY month! I can't believe you are going to run around naked for that long though! :rotfl:

about 2 weeks before Christmas Ash decides she wants a stuffed hippo (yeah from the song :rotfl:) so I was working on this until about 9 Christmas Eve, but I love it.

I love the hippo! My husband would sing along every time the song came on the radio. In fact, I showed him your hippo and he started singing it again :lmao:

i love this!!!! i detest half sqare triangles- yours are perfect!

Have you ever tried 'Thangles'? They make half square triangles so easy!

Man, that child has gorgeous eyes! What a great picture!
Awww, thank you so much Steph!!!! :cloud9:

Oh Heather, that dress is simply ADORABLE!!!! I just love it. You did a fab job!!!

And that little boy of yours is just so stinkin' cute. Too funny about the glitter.

love, love love this
Thank you so much!~!~

She just got a brown and pink one so the black needs to wait! LOL She doesn't have any more room in her closet!
Did you applique the words on that shirt or embroider them? I adore it!

very pretty picture! We want to see a full picture of the shirt!
LOL.....don't ya hate it when the closets seem to get smaller? Hahaha. I appliqued the letters. Thank you for the sweet comments. I will look for a picture to upload showing the entire shirt.

This is the reaction I got when I told her it was time to take the dress off.

Oh my goodness they are all so cute. I love all the outfits you have posted so far. Just adorable!!

Again just ADORABLE!

I made a few things for my kids for our Thanksgiving trip.
Here's one - Mickey head with skirt to match. I didn't have time to do squares, so I did stripes.

Oh that is adorable!!!

Hi everyone. I posted on the first page of this thread and swore I was going to keep up this time. However, life got in the way again, and my youngest and I were diagnosed with pneumonia right and my oldest also got sick. We have been through 3 courses of anti-biotics and just couldn't seem to completely recover. I have been on sporadically and have tried to keep up with some of my smaller (and less active) boards, but I just couldn't manage this one. I have gotten some sewing done though, so all was not lost.

I have loved the things I've seen on here though when I've been able to lurk, and I hope to keep up again. Ugh!!! we'll see if I can manage till at least the end of the thread.
Oh no, sorry to hear you have all been sick. I hope you guys start to feel better soon!

Yesterday when I was out I drove past a warehouse type building that said fabric outlet open to the public, I had seen it before nut never had time to stop. I had a little time so I thought I would check it out! I walked in and nearly fainted! :cloud9: I got all tingly. It was the most fabric I had ever seen!! I looked around and found some fabrics I had never seen before. They had chip and dale cotton knit, Incredibles flannel, some many my wallet was spinning!! There were many I had seen before and wish I had boughten and then never seen again! You cut everything yourself and then put it back. AND it is all cheap like $2.50 to $3.50 a yard!! It's like a treasure hunt!! Any way I got out there for under $50, I was proud of my self for showing such restraint!! :rolleyes1 I can take pictures if anyone is interested ;)
Oh OH OH ...you are sooo lucky!!!!

Hi everyone! I've resurfaced from lurkdom because I've really missed some of you and was hoping to get reaquainted. I've loved looking at all of the outfits you've created. It's been so much fun and rewarding to see everybody share their interests and talents. My family just got back from a Christmas vacation to Disneyland, and I wanted to share some of the outfits I created for my sons and daughter for our trip.

**ETA: Okay, the swirlies had to go. They were driving me batty too.

I LOVE THIS ONE!!! I WANT THIS ONE...hahahaha. I am jealous! Hahaha.

Post birthday recovery in progress :rolleyes1
It seems birthdays around here last a week! Brookie had a school party and family party and a Princess Tea Party today. I got up early to clean and set up and decorate and we had a great time but I am sooo exhausted now!

Here is some pics of the birthday girl:

IMGP7549.jpg
Happy Birthday to your little sweetie. She looked adorable at her party!!!

I have to tell this to ya'll cause I know you all will appreciate this one. Today DH and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of things. So we were walking down the food section walkway I notice that they had an end cap that filled from top to bottom half with Tomato soup and the other half with ..... Chicken Noodle Soup. Tons of it. Just sitting there waiting to be grabbed by the nearest DH with a sick wife. So his rebuttal was this, "They must have just put that there." Yeah sure. So then we go down the isle that has all of the soup and there is a big spot filled with Chicken Noodle Soup. His reply, "Why are so picky about what kind of soup you want?" Men!! They don't understand anything. I swear if I was taller I wouldn't need one. :lmao:
:rotfl2: :lmao: :cool1:

That must have been so scary to have your baby in a strange hospital. I'm glad he's feeling better. I love the picture of your daughter. That outfit is so spunky & sassy & cute.
Oh my goodness, yes, I felt so bad for my little guy. He was just so miserable and it broke my heart. I am so thankful he is better now.

I loved that outfit too, we love funky here!!! Hahahaha. Thank you so much!

I have outfit number one done for our trip!
I almost hate to post it with all the beautiful things posted today!
I am not completely happy with it. I guess I am a little rusty! I haven't sewn any clothing items since way before Christmas!
I hope my next one turns out better!

Sorry for such a lousy photo! The lighting in my sewing "cave" isn't that great once the daylight leaves!
Tom, that is wonderful. I love it!!!

Beautiful picture. Nice touch on the sleeves.
Thanks again, looking for a picture of the whole shirt to share. lol

OH MY GOODNESS!

I FOUND IT!!!!

I'm so happy!!!
Yeah so glad you found your ring Teresa!!! My DH has lost his ring and can not find it anywhere. It has been missing a few months now. Ugh

What are you talking about Tom? That dress is beautiful.

I'm glad that you found your ring. I know that that has to be frustrating. I don't wear my ring and neither does DH, but if either of them were lost I would be so frustrated. (We don't wear the rings because we both type all the time and at the time that we got married we both had jobs that required alot of typing. The rings are Titanium and so it hurt our fingers to have them. So no flaming us for not wearing rings. :))

and that Twilight cake looks scrumptios. My dd13 wants one for her birthday...think you can whip one up and send it to North Carolina next month?
It was an icecream cake. I'm not so sure it would make it all the way there :lmao:. I can tell you that the picture that I used for the drawing came from Deviantart.com. Just search for Twilight and there are tons of pictures of Twilight and there are even some really pretty bookmarks. All the art is free and the artists give permission for the art to be used non comercially.

I want to thank everyone for the compliments on my niece's cake. It has been a while since I have done an icing drawing. I was kind of afraid to do it.

Okay, Shannon, you're going to get a crib size sheet, but is that just for one child or are you planning on using it for more than one? Like for an outfit for a give or something you might sell?

And Jessica, I get it, you aready have some (lucky girl!) so probably not in the market.

And 2cutekidz (I am terrible with real life names - I am SO sorry) what size are you going to order?

I am just trying to figure it out since I know a twin size sheet set would be more than enough with lots left over but is a crib size sheet too little? I just can't decide!!!

I would be making something for just my DD, and maybe have enough left for one more outfit. However, I went back to the pottery barn kids site, and didn't see this available in crib sheet size. SO, I may not be taking the plunge after all. I don't want to buy a twin set. That would be way more fabric than I want to deal with. Maybe we could set up a group purchase?

I need a little advice on American Girl stuff too...

My girls got Samantha for Christmas and for Valentine's Day I ordered the Samantha chair and table set and one of her beds. We have two dolls (one for Grace and one for Claire - poor Lilly didn't get one but if it causes problems I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!) should I order a second Samantha bed or wait and order a different doll's bed? I am worried that the girls will fight over whose doll gets the bed. I'm not normally this indulgent with my kids but since the line is being retired I don't want to regret not buying it. I figure eventually they will get a new doll and I can always order that doll's bed so we will have two beds. And I do really hate to spend money on toys but these are special and I do want them to enjoy them so any suggestions I would appreciate!

Oh, and my in-laws bought them Fancy Nancy dolls for Christmas. I was comparing them to the AG dolls and they look about the same size. Do you think they could wear the same size clothes when I get around to making them?

I purchased doll beds for my DD for Christmas. I got them on :wizard: . The set that I bought was a bunk bed that has a trundle bed under the bottom bunk that can be used for a third bed. They're also made so that I can purchase additional single beds to add to the set as we go along. They're very well made. You might want to look around and see if there are any other options besides the AG beds. You might find something that will work.
