Does anyone know how much it costs to do a load of laundry on the Magic? We didn't use it last time, so I need an idea of how much change to bring.:confused3

I'm sure this has already been answered but.it's $1.00 to wash.$1.00 to dry.

Stole this from the Budget Board

It's a contest for free movie cash. Just about every one wins a movie ticket. A small few have only one an Entenman's Bakery coupon. I got movie cash, up to $12 value.

It is limited to these states: AK, AR, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, KS, LA, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, or WY

And it is very touchy. If you don't enter the validation code correctly it does not give you a second chance. And will recognize your IP if you try again with a different email or address.

Good luck

I had told DS that we wouldn't be seeing any movies this summer, but last night I got passes for a free screening of The Rocker for next week. And now 1 free ticket with this. So guess we can see a few.

What it boils down to is this: Very few dresses fit me right. If they're big enough to fit on top, then they hang like a bag on the bottom. God love the new style that looks like maternity dresses, at least they fit. So what if I'm 50....maybe I'm carrying a child for my infertile daughter!! ;)
I hear ya on this one Stace!!!

So....I have maybe 5 dresses, then I have several skirts and tops....but the rest of my outfits for dinner are either going to be skorts or capri's and tops that can double as outfits for brunch or sea days.
Too bad if no one likes it. At least I'm not going to dinner naked.

Thank you!!!

hey everyone...a quick computer question...
my laptop screen hinges have broken...and now it won't stay open..just flops shut or flat down! do you know if there is anyway to get it fixed? or am i gonna need a new computer?

What brand? - but the short answer is yes. Go to the vendors web site and look for service.

So here is what I’m doing right now instead of working…

Dinner Clothing – I figure if we plan to wear everything twice (once each week with laundry in between) we’ll need 5 outfits each. Palo, Semi, 2 Formal & Pirate take care of the other 5 nights. I’m wearing the same cocktail dress for semi & Palo & DH is wearing the same suit. So here’s what we are packing.

Me:
5 dressy sundresses
little black dress
2 formals
Bonus points – ONE pair of dress shoes! I’m wearing beige strappy heels every night. I figure everything goes with “foot color”

DH:
5 polo/camp shirts
2 pairs of pants
1 suit (2 shirts/ties)
DDBs (tux)
Black dress shoes & boat shoes

Boys:
5 polo/camp shirts
2 pairs of pants
1 suit
1 tux
Black dress shoes & sandals – I’m leaving the brown “school shoes” at home, they can wear sandals with tan pants.

Day Clothing - The guys can re-wear their polo/camp shirts with shorts during the day, so that will cut down on t-shirts to pack. I mostly wear casual sundresses during the day, which are pretty compact for packing.

So I think I’m bringing
3 pairs of shorts
6 tanks
5 sundresses
3 swimsuits
2 coverups
3 pairs of flip-flops (2 nice, 1 pool/beach)
4/5 work out outfits + shoes
Boonie hat

Boys:
4 shorts
5 t-shirts
3 swimsuits
Rash guard shirt
Flip flops
Tennis shoes

DH is on his own.

This all sounds very reasonable, until I stop to consider the infinite pieces-parts that seem to go with DH’s uniform, the snorkel gear, my gigundo blow dryer/diffuser contraption, probably 6 books, 2 cameras, 3 lenses, laptop, beach blanket, first aid kit, fish gifts, toiletries, 10 cans of sunscreen…OY!

I am so glad we can still check 2 “free” bags per person on both of our flights.

Looks like a really good list M, I might have to borrow it!

The sheriffs told us that before they would even consider doing anything, we had to post NO Trespassing, No Dumping, Private Property signs. :confused3

Isn't is obvious to these people that they don't own any of it?? I mean, come on...they don't pay the monthly dumpster bill, and they don't pay the taxes on our land......:sad2:
Something is really wrong with the world when we have to do that. It's like "Property Laws for Dummies".

And take lots of pictures.

Funny story.....one time, someone dumped tires in our dumpster....which we would have to pay money to dispose of. The idiots also were stupid enough to dump their daily garbage in there too. The sheriff wouldn't do anything, so we got the illegal dumper's address off the mail in their garbage, loaded all their junk into my husband's truck, and dumped it back in their driveway. We never heard a word. :rotfl:

That is something I would do!!! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would be lying if I said I haven't thought about it :)

I've just read this out and Helen is on the phone to Virgin Atlantic (we have free flights as we were bumped via Washington last year).

I'll keep you informed.

David

Are there any keeping our fingers crossed smilies???? :thumbsup2

Mom and Dad came really close to selling The Woods due to a bad neighbor. And he doesn't even share a property line! Some developer decided that the forestry easment on their property (which was in a different spot) allowed him access to property up the ridge he wanted to develop. So, he came and ripped up their gate. Got caught doing it by our caretakers. Ticked Mom and Dad off royally. Wound up in court, took several years, has finally been resolved - to no one's satisfaction. Though they've set an interesting land rights precedent in the area.

The sad thing is, if this guy had approached them openly and honestly, and asked about expanding / moving the easement for traffic so he could develop they'd have done it. :sad2:

I think more and more people have the *Me first* attitude nowadays. :sad2:

Cool! Thanks for that! Maybe DH and I can leave DD with my parents one night this weekend and actually go out to a movie!! :thumbsup2

The validation code did not work for me for the first 3 tries... It's apparently caps sensitive, but it did work after I figured that out!

Did I forget to mention it's a one way ticket? :rotfl2: Since the airlines cancelled the flight before......... I am trying not to get to excited. This will only be the 3rd attempt to her getting here.

Then comes getting her ready for school next month. Poor kid doesn't get a break, she just finished school in NY.:sad2:
I am trying to work on my schedule so I can spend some time with her. I will be working Sun. but only taking phone calls. We are taking her to the beach !:) Thanks for asking. It's been a longggg 4 months without her.:sad1:

WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this has been terrible without her.:grouphug:

Pirate Roll Call!

Just a reminder that if you want to be listed in the Pirate Roster for our TOAL, sign up on the thread over on the Pirate Zone. Also, if you are one of the many GTY status pirates sleeping in the lifeboats or the chairs on Deck 4, if you happen to get a cabin assignment, please make sure that you put a new post on that thread so that we can update your info.

I'll be making up a list and a map, combined with the Fish Extender Exchange listing. I need to get it sent off to M so she can include it in the Print-It-Yourself documents that she is working on. (Pirates' Navigator, Kids' Journal pages, etc). So please make sure that if you are interested you are signed up and your cabin number is updated, if you have one by then, by July 28.

Since it is going to be combined with the Fish Extender exchange list, please make sure if you signed up and are still GTY, that when you get your cabin assignmnets, you also PM bellelinus (Julie). She's still the keeper of the FE list, I'm just pirating her info!

Thanks for reminding people to PM me with cabin numbers when they have them, Mike!

I bought the Tide ones when I saw them last month... I'm also bringing a small bottle of detergent for stuff that I don't want to stain (DD is 18mo and makes a huge mess!) so I can wash some in the sink or tub.

:lmao: :lmao:

All this laundry talk -- my big tip is to bring Tide to Go sticks (more than you think you need -- they are wonderful!) and some things can be worn more than once without washing. I used these on the Med and Med repo cruises last year and was able to take little stains out of things and then reuse them or me or the girls . . . it was wonderful and really cut down on laundry. I have bought 2 packs of 3 sticks to take this year.

I have to give Harley a Benedryl at least twice a day for his Summer grass allergies. I give it to him in peanutbutter and he swallows it right down.

It's funny, Debi, but my beagle (Belle) is allergic to peanut butter, so your trick would be terrible for her! At least she doesn't have seasonal allergies so she doesn't take medicine regularly.

Need to take a break from work and see whats cooking on the DIS..

DW is totally stressing about packing... I've told her to pack like its a 7 or 8 day vacation and I will do the laudry.

Plan to take 2 rolls of quarters for the laundry as the driers take a long time to get things dry (unless its a very small load). Take the quarters as carry on otherwise is help get the checked luggage to become over weight.

Will likely bring a small box of detergent w us and a ziplock bag of some downey sheets.

I never do laundry at home... but I do it on the DCL (give the DW a break). See y'all on the 6th floor laudry room.

As for the tux... what's it cost to rent? Have heard they are cheap to buy as well. Not sure what to do there.

And a question for the group... if the cruise were next Aug instead of this Aug... how many would reconsider talking the cruise due to the uncertain economic picture? I can tell you I would still go, but I bet the DW would be trying to talk me out of it.... she's the worry wort of this couple!

DH called our health insurance today to inquire about out of the country coverage. We have a PPO plan. She informed him that if we did have to get medical care anywhere, to utilize the ER rather then any other physicians. She said it was easier to get re-imbursed via the ER. We'd have to pay for the services and submit receipts for reimbursement, unless they offered to bill it up front for us first.

Does this sound right? Any thoughts on this subject?

It shouldn't, but it still amazes me that common courtesy is now the exception not the rule with most people. When I see other people not having common courtesy even my kids comment on it. We have instilled in them, hopefully for life, how you should treat people and be courteous so when they see rude behavior they realize why we won't tolerate it in our family

I have BC/BS PPO and my card has a suit case in the upper right hand corner. I should be covered for out of state/country. I would assume that we would have to pay up front and than submit receipts for reimbursement. God forbid we should need it, but thankfully we have it. Actually using the ER would be easier for your insurance to trace, than a private physician. That way you and the ins co would be sure that you used a recognized health care provider.

If I have you on the email list you should have recieved an email from me. If you didn't and you want to be involved (I know that I probably missed a few people! I'm sorry!!!) please email me @ aol dot com.

This is what the email said (I also included everyone's email addy & Dis name)

*********************************
Here are the names & email addy of everyone that I have so far -- I hope I haven't missed anyone! I am sure I have probably missed a few people but, I hope to rectify that soon!

As you can see there are a couple that I don't have Dis names with........

An idea I had (actually Cheryl & I had it about a year ago! LOL!) was to do *page kits* to swap. Sandwich baggie size. :-) But, I am open to whatever y'all want to do......

Since we know the themes (I'm putting them where they were for the Westbound, I don't know which nights they'll be for us!!!) that they had on the Westbound Repo and the Ports we will be visiting.... I thought I would list them to get us started with ideas ---

Cabo San Lucas
Puerto Vallarta
Alcapulco
Panama Canal
Cartagena
Aruba
Castaway Cay

Minnie's Fiesta Grande
Prince and Princess
Tropical deck party
Pirate's in the Caribbean
Formal Nights

If any of you remember something that I have left off...tell us. :-)
