hi everyone! i havne't been on in a few days! hope everyone had a great weekend. mine was very stressful! my boys went to the hosp last friday to get the tubes put in their ears. youngest ds fared pretty well fri, but the anesthesia knocked the older one for a loop!

My DS 12, had tubes put Back In, a few weeks ago. He had them in for 6 years and finally had them taken out last Dec to heal for our Feb cruise, he did great but the fluid built back up, so we had them put back in and his adenoids taken out at the same time. Much Better!!! His hearing is way better (although selective at times) and even his speach is very clear now.
The hardest part is our hosp. has a parent go in the OR with the kids 'till they're KO'd.... I've alsways been the parent of choice for my son. This kills me each time to watch him go under. Hopefuly this is the last. It's a minor operation the doctor says, Not to us! we don't do these everyday like they do, it's a big deal for us.
Glad to hear everything worked out, the ear plugs are a pain but so worth it.
J got lime green so they're noticable in the water if one pops out.

We were booked on the Med...but the price of the cruise, plus the price to fly our family of 6, as well as the hotel stay before and after...just pushed the price over the top for us. We transferred our ressie's to the PC when they announced it and it made it a bit easier to only have to fly home from MCO.

We were bummed...but happy to have this trip to look forward to. I would definitely like to do the Med in the future if they go there again.

The same thing happened with us, and it killed me when the time came that we were actually supposed to be on the cruise. Also my DD wound up having to go to SS so she would not have been able to miss it. It seems so long ago that we did that back in January 07, and now this trip is only 6 weeks away.

We were also able to use our FF miles to book our airfare, so RT for the 4 of us (out to LA and back from Orlando) is only costing us $400 instead of $2,400. And our DVC points to pay for our 3 night stay at GC prior to the cruise. So that was a big savings.

I get motion sick/sea sick because of all the scarring on my eardrum. So, I'm not so sure this would work -- although I did try that on a glass bottom boat tour in Cancun 16 yrs ago......... DH said that he never saw anyone climb over people/push people out of the way as quick as I did to get up to the top of the boat! :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have only gotten seasick once on my friend's sailboat. When he couldn't get us back to shore fast enough, I jumped off the side of the boat and swam back, ran to the bathroom, hurled, then crawled into bed and slept for the rest of the night. It was the most awful feeling.....

Couple of interesting other threads:

I don't recall seeing this info posted from the WB'ers. Postcards can be mailed from the Panama Canal. Postcards and stamps were available for purchase upon embarkation so you have plenty of time to write them up. Panamanian postcards were $1 each, DCL Panama postcards .75 each. Panamanian postcards stamps are .25 each and avaiable for purchase from either Treasure Ketch or Guest Services. They are beautiful stamps. All postcards had to be dropped in the mailbox at Guest Services by 1pm on the day of transit. The only down side to this was that none of the stamps on the postcards I mailed were cancelled!

We were on the June 15 Mexican Riviera and stayed at the Grand Californian. We did NOT use the Disney Transfers and were able to check in the Friday before we left for the cruise. There was a DCL desk set up in the lobby. My sister also checked in with no problems. We are Castaway members and received our Key to the World card and lanyards. They also provide a map of the terminal and directions to the terminal if needed. In addition, we had another family that were staying offsite. They were also able to check in a the Grand Californian, although I think they just got lucky! Our transportation picked us up at the hotel at 10 am and we received boarding number 5. We checked into the kids club (received pagers) and made our wine/beer/margarita tasting appointments at the excursion desk at the terminal before we ever boarded. Once on board, I went straight to the Rockin Bar to combine some Palo reservations and didn't even have to wait in line!

dahuffy - As a dog lover you would appreciate this story. Today I took our 1 yr old Min. Schnauzer to the vet for vac. Her name is Belle. A few minutes after I left the vet, Belle threw up so I stopped to clean the van. When I got back into the van, she collapsed on the seat. I rushed her back to the vet. They rushed her to the back and started working on her. She had gone into anaphylactic shock! After much care, she is home recovering now.

I hope Belle is better today.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope she had a restful night and is feeling better this morning. My Chocolate Lab has issues with his shots too :sad2: Now he gets a shot of benedryll before his vaccinations. He also has seasonal allergies and has wicked problems w/his ears. I used to think that Labs were relatively hearty dogs ... not my boy, he's pretty high maintenance, but I love him to pieces :)

hi everyone! i havne't been on in a few days! hope everyone had a great weekend. mine was very stressful! my boys went to the hosp last friday to get the tubes put in their ears. youngest ds fared pretty well fri, but the anesthesia knocked the older one for a loop! he had the procedure done at 8am...with very little anesthesia...and he was still throwing up when he went to bed that nite! i felt awful for him!! youngest ds was hit harder the next day. he had his adenoids done also..and the pain got to him on saturday. the pain meds make him very whiny and loopy...so it's been a difficult past few days! we also had a yard sale on saturday. i mistakenly thought i would have time to work on pricing things on friday...but that never got done due to ds's not being well! so...i stayed up late on friday nite with the intentions of pricing sale stuff. i decided to check emails at one point, and when i got online, i started chatting with an old freind....and we ended up staying up all nite chatting...i never went to bed! not what i needed to do when i ws short on sleep anyways!
oh well...things are settling down now...so i can finally check back in here! has there been any more info on the busses from hojo to the port? any other imp info i should know about? i guess i'd better go check out the pirate board...and try to get caught back up!
have a great nite everyone!

Hope the boys are doing better Shannon. :goodvibes

I just wanted to say a big public THANK YOU to Terri (rillsung) who very kindly offer to make us a Boma ressie and got one for us!

We are so, so grateful!

We can't wait for this trip!

No problem! I managed to dodge the questions about what hotel you were staying in and a phone number :lmao:

Hi,
(ps. is she on the SM list? if she is- can I ask Laura if I can be her SM? LOL I'm having an "issue" with being assigned a girl that doesn't like girl things- and I spent a YEAR buying stuff I thought Rita would like thinking that meant another girl her age would like it....... but no, I'm matched up with a girl that likes boy stuff! And Laura said she was surprised most fo the girls on the SM list didn't want girl stuff!!! that's a disaster for me... tha'ts all I bought was princesses and tinkerbell stuff and a couple of girly POC things--- I can't afford to rebuy the items... I bought stuff for a year when on sale, when disney stuff showed up in the dollar store and target, etc.-- but it's presenting a problem for Laura to change things. I don't want to give this to a child that is going to be disappointed with a bunch of princesses and tinkerbelle stuff! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wanna cry. I'm wondering if i should just pull out from the SM thing and just give the gifts I bought to my own kids- they wouldn't know the difference (I'm a nightowl and they'd be clueless LOL) atleast then I'd KNOW the kids would be happy instead of disappointing someone else's child. :( But I know Claire would love the stuff I bought!)

If you have never organized an exchange (SM) or linking dining...........it is really hard to do. We only have so many people to work with that fall into certain age brackets and gender. I also had trouble doing the dining link do to lack of children.

I know I had to many things on my plate with the Cancer Celebration two weeks ago, dining linking, my birthday and our 40th annivrsary with my children coming in from out town. Last week I was at the hospital for my DGD. I knew if I wanted to be fair to a SM I would not have the time this year. I hope it all works out for you.:flower3:

Thanks Roger. I figured it was OK, but you never know. I am stocking up for TOAL. I'll take Bonnie everyday as I've had inner ear problems before. As I get old it seems I can feel motion more! DD has only complained once or twice on a 2 cruises, but it is best to be prepared. Of course with dd I have to make sure I have a good supply of Neosporin and band aids!

My doctor told John and I to take the mechlizine low dosage everyday of the cruise one in the morning and once at night. She said once you get sick it is harder to recover from being seasick. If things got rough she told us to increase it to 25 mg. twice a day. :cheer2:

Morningpirate: just a quick driveby posting to say HELLO! I sure don't know where my time is going, but I miss coming here to play. Yoou all have a great 4th and weekend.:goodvibes

We want to see pictures of all your hard work on the staion. Have a Happy and safe 4th.

I Totally agree about the 'routine surgery' comment! That's what they told us about Sydney's surgery and hers was to rearrange her insides!! And then to put a hole in her tummy for the feeding tube...

I'm so glad Brooke is coming this weekend, Tina -- for how long?

Did I forget to mention it's a one way ticket? :rotfl2: Since the airlines cancelled the flight before......... I am trying not to get to excited. This will only be the 3rd attempt to her getting here.

Then comes getting her ready for school next month. Poor kid doesn't get a break, she just finished school in NY.:sad2:
I am trying to work on my schedule so I can spend some time with her. I will be working Sun. but only taking phone calls. We are taking her to the beach !:) Thanks for asking. It's been a longggg 4 months without her.:sad1:

Happy Birthday Claire!

Happy Belated Birthday Claire!!!

Sorry I missed this yesterday, but princesses get to celebrate all month long!;)

Claire says *Thank you, Disboard people!* ;) And as the youngest of 5 she thinks she is a princess EVERYDAY! :rotfl2:

My brother (the swimmer) teaches in Papillion.
It's funny how often we've traveled and run into people from Omaha. I wonder if half the population once lived there?
Or is it just half the Air Force population??

Matbe! LOL! My dad & Uncle both ended up there because of the Navy! :rotfl: Although I have been tot he Air Force Base there -- we (my dad & 4 of my kids) stayed in Air Force *cottages* thee either last summer or the summer before..... I was there both summers for a few days and now I can't remember which trip was which.........

Hi,
I figured you must be too busy to answer my email or something but then I saw you posting here and I thought hey...... did she not get my email or what? LOL
Um, NO! I was not driving fast.I told you in the email that I did not drive over the speed limit (and often slightly under to be on the safe side) because most of the small towns you have to go thru to go that way are towns that are REALLY BIG on stopping you for speeding- I think it's their main source of revenue for their small towns or something. LOL I told you they are always out with radar guns and/or you see people stopped almost everytime you go by there. Plus I was following behind my prego-sister and she doesn't ever speed but she's even more cautious when pregnant (well partly not by choice- us short people have nowhere to go but OUT when we're pregnant and being short.. and so far back from the wheel due to massive tummy... it presents problems actually reaching the pedal well enough to put the metal to the pedal. LOL) So no, I wasn't going over the speed limit. There might have been construction going on there before and it's done now OR the online maps just sometimes don't give you the "best and fastest route"- they usually give the shortest route- which isn't always the fastest. I mean it can be less miles from one point to the next BUT if it's going thru towns with red light after red light and slow speed limits versus going thru towns that are all 65mph and only slowing down to 50mph speed limit for short periods of time as you pass thru the tiny town- and 0-1 red lights in each town-- it really makes a difference in how much TIME it takes. Perhaps this route was more miles but a lot faster because the speed limit isn't 55 then 35 then 50 then 45 with lights/etc. like the other way is! LOL

That would have been funny if you guys just showed up! That would have been neat!
I actually did see one girl that looked just like Samantha- same braces and everything! I had to stare at her very hard before I realized it wasn't her. LOL She looked so much like her I almost asked her if she was Samantha! LOL

I'm so sorry you had a bad week, dear.
I'm also so sorry to hear about your uncle! :( :(
I'm also sorry apparently I wasn't thinking when you told me about Claire's birthday. I wasn't thinking clearly atleast! I guess I had so much on my mind at the time preparing for Rita's party, ruby going to church camp, etc.
I'm shaking my head at myself.....can't figure out why I didn't think about it. Normally I would have thought ahead and had a gift for her or something! LOL

(ps. is she on the SM list?

I'll try that way next time. Samantha was at Hurricane Harbor (with friends) that afternoon which is why Brian was INSISTING that I take them to Hawaiian Falls -- it was his insisting that caused me to say *No*. ;)

We didn't do the Secret Mickeys.

:scared1: VBS craft leader? That is the most hectic job at VBS IMO. Bless you!

BTW, when does your oldest ds and Samantha leave for WYD2008, again? Please give them my best and tell them to tell Benedict I said "hi" :wave2: :goodvibes . I will keep them in my prayers.

This will be ds's third year for Catholic Youth Summer Camp. He absolutely loves it! One night they have Benediction and Adoration on the beach (at a lake) and after Confession they place a candle on the altar and pray silently for a couple of hours. Believe it or not, this is just about every campers favorite night of the week. There is no doubt in my mind he would love WYD. Did Samantha go last year as well?

When dh found out I was doing VBS again this year he told me that he thought I had said I wasn't going to volunteer this year... I told him it didn't count as volunteering when the person running it is a friend and she tells me that she can't get anyone else to do it.... :headache:

They leave this Sunday. We are going to miss her so MUCH!!! The last time they had a WYD was a few years ago... i think in Germany. She wasn't old enough. This is the first year in a long time that she didn't go to Catholic summer camp (thepines.org). She was too old. If she hadn't had WYD this summer she was going to apply to be a C.I.T. and then try to work there next summer.
We are hoping that 10ds & 7dd will get a chance to go there next summer.
I'm going to let dd & ds know that you will be praying for them and for them to keep you/your family in their intentions.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I would so have jumped out of the boat if I could have figured out which way was land! ;)

If you have never organized an exchange (SM) or linking dining...........it is really hard to do. We only have so many people to work with that fall into certain age brackets and gender. I also had trouble doing the dining link do to lack of children.

Which is why I told you to just connect us with anyone and I'm sure we can get along for a couple of weeks! LOL! I know from past cruises that DCL would have given us our own table since there are 5 of us. Which is fine but, it was alot of fun to sit with another family last time!
I hope the family you hooked us up with likes us! LOL! Since they haven't posted in a long time I can't remember much about them.....

Morningpirate: just a quick driveby posting to say HELLO! I sure don't know where my time is going, but I miss coming here to play. Yoou all have a great 4th and weekend.:goodvibes

I know what you mean Paula. The closer the cruise gets seems it gets harder & harder to find the time to Dis. I am working from home today. Can ya tell?:rotfl2: I am working on a computer program all day. The funny thing is I know squat about computers.:scared1: Needed a break and here I am trying to stay caught up.

My parents summer there and winter in CA. The only way in in the winter is by snowmobile. They stayed as late as early December one year, in an attempt to winter over - but it got too difficult.

They purchased the 80 forested acres with dad's inheritance, and it's turned into a really fabulous retreat. 80 ac was too much to keep up with so they recently split off two other parcels and sold it to friends. The entire 80 remains under the same forestry management plan though. Slowly, they've been putting in infrastructure - it's got power now, and a septic - so you can have a real hot shower and everything. But it's still "rustic".

We send the boys there every summer, well not so much this summer, for a few weeks. Each one separately. It lets them have 1-1 time with their grandparents, and learn a love for the land for when it comes to them. :goodvibes There's worse ways for a boy to spend their summer.

I wish you were closer too - it's going to be fun. I'm really looking forward to Packing Day.

Congratulations. Wonderful feeling - I bet.

Actually? It really hasn't hit yet. Everyone tells me that it takes about 10 days for it to really settle in.

Day 4 sans monkeys. What have DH & I done so far?? Worked. Blah.

:sad2: Goodness, the Cinderella crack makes ever so much more sense. M Dear, come on over here with me. We need to chat....

:stir:
.

Well, we heard from our realtor that the bank didn't take our offer - we're the backup. :confused3 So, things are back up in the air now.

I know I'll be there, or in the vicinity, July 18 - 25. We'll make at least one trip to Seattle to take the boys to the Pacific Science Center. DS11 got to go last summer and is insisting that we take little brother since it's about the coolest place on the planet. I'll tell you, my stock really went up when he learned I used to work there. ;)

So, you can come do forestry, hike, camp, hot tub, BBQ.... OR.... We could try to meet up in Seattle.

Just to help you decide, this is the hot tub, and the view therefrom :cool2:

TheWoodsHotTub.jpg

Depending on the body count, we could probably have beds. And, if any others from the area decide to join in...
WOW, what an incredible view! I'll talk to DH and get back with you!

The Bellis Fair one has been gone for eons. There is a discount outlet near Mt. Vernon but I think that is closing soon or just closed. It opens for awhile then closes. The one that I was wondering about is the Alderwood Mall one -but I seem to think it might be closed as well. Is there one still in Southcenter?

I'll be in Vancouver next week for my Niece's wedding - hoping to be able to make it out to Burnaby to check out the Disney Store although it's about 40 minute drive at least from my Sister's - things we do for a Disney fix. :rotfl2:

Caropooh said Alderwood is still open. No, Southcenter is closed as well. They are adding a bunch of stuff to that mall, and it is turning out pretty cool. Vancouver has one still, huh? Maybe we'll have to use our passports and head up sometime.:goodvibes
