Description: You know you're from Pittsburgh when...

You don't see what all the hype is about Disney World when Kennywood
is just around the corner.

"N at' " is eloquently added to the end of every sentence.

You know that the fireworks from the Three Rivers Regatta are the best
when you can see the reflections they make off the PPG building.

You have a taste bud for Smiley Cookies.

Words like: hoagie; chipped ham; pop; and gumband actually mean
something to you.

You will defend with your life that it's called pop and not soda.

You often go down to the "crick".

You bleed black and gold...

You wake up to KDKA.

You go 'food shoppin' at 'Jine Iggle'.

Chipped ham was always in your refrigerator when you were growing up.

You believe that "Ize" is the abbreviaton for "I was"

"Yinz" is part of common everyday language.

You can find Zelienople on a map.

You know what is meant by "The Point".

radius.

You've taken deliberate field trips to the Andy Warhol museum and the
Carnegie Science Center.

You're more worried about Big Ben's health than your own.

You own more than one original Terrible Towel.

You're 35 years old, have never been outside of Allegheny County, and
don't see the need to leave.

You only own four spices: salt, pepper, Heinz ketchup, and the bottle
of Trappey's Red Devil you swiped from Primanti's.

You've ridden the two oldest surviving inclines in the world.

For the life of you, you can't understand why your all your
out-of-town friends don't get the "fries and cole slaw"
thing...

You walk carefully when it is "slippy" outside.

You've ever gotten hurt by falling into a "jaggerbush".

You know that Ahia is a river, a boulevard, and a state.

You hate Cleveland, although you've never been there.

You know what a steel mill is.

You remember the old Clark Bar building...lighting up while you drive
to Three Rivers Stadium to watch the Pirates play...

You can remember pinning that big number on your chest and running
through Point Park for the kids' day.

You know which of the three rivers is the dirtiest!
hmmm...i wonder?!

You'll still scream for Tony Womack and Jason Kendall even though they
left for better teams.

You had a tradition of going to the PPG to see the Santa Claus display
every winter.

You remember riding the T to Grant street and walk to the Candy Rama
to get some sweets...

You know the "Strip District" isn't really at all what the name
intends...

boys with the same name.

Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his NEW FORD F150.

You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.

You remember what Horne's and Lazarus were.

quite "slide" down it...

As comprehensive as your list is (I know some serious Pittsburgh fans who would agree with all of them), I think you forgot one.

I think it is something like, you remember where you were and who you were with (what you were eating etc.) for the immaculate reception.

Awesome list Kathy.

Go Steelers!!!!!

Man, I forgot about "jaggerbushes". Blasted jaggers...

Loved the "Steel Phantom", and had to go back to Kennywood for it's final year.

I actually saw Donny Iris play on New Year's Eve once, and he didn't play "Stairway to Heaven" or "Freebird".

I had to teach my daughters the proper name for sprinkles (I mean "jimmies").

I lived in an apartment above Mineo's in college.

Here's another one I didn't see on your list. I remember when Klondikes were made by Isley's.

And I remember when Islay's was still all over the place. And Hornes and Gimbels. And if those Macy's people think we will EVER call it the MACY'S clock they are out of the minds.

Now I want Sarris's. Any Sarris's and a bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese.

Yesterday was a redd up day.

And I was nice to my mother and shovelled out the driveway this morning after I finished with the sidewalk and the walk up to the house.

Kim

P.S. Go Steelers

Woooooo! Go Pats, go! :cheer2: :cheer2: Who they playing today, anyways?

No one? :scared: They were 11-5!

Whaddya mean someone at 8-8 is playing now...:sad2:

Here's a similar list for Boston that makes me chuckle every time. And yes, most of it is completely true. I drive on I-95N/Rt128N/Rt3S every day. And it's all the same road.

-TGr (still hurtin' from the playoff omission)

Wishing the Steelers the best of luck - they played a good game all year.

Yum klondike bars. I miss Sarris and their chocolates. When we visit Pgh. that is one of the things I bring home with me.

Go Steelers!!!!

Hhhhmmmm, do you know anyone from Pittsburgh who might bring you some for the cruise?

Kim

Kathy, do you remember Annaclairs from Gimbel's? I was looking at a certain website of another chocolate company and they have their own version that reminded me of them. They were really good. Did you know Candy Rama is no more  ? They were sold, but the new people just didn't have the same stuff.

Kim

No I don't remember Annaclairs. I remember my grandma taking me to Candy Rama. That's a shame that they aren't the same anymore.

I represent that.

I have another one. If you know who Rick Sebak is.

They had a thing on QED the other and they were talking about how much the North Hills and South Hills don't like each other. It was funny.

Thank you for reminding us of all the reasons why we stay here in the cold. Although, it's tough having to spell Aliquippa everytime you are asked for your address. I remember calling Disney reservations once and someone with a very thick southern accent saying "Ali what!"

No matter where I travel, I am always asked if I am related to the weatherman. I guess everyone knows Joe.

Hope you are enjoying the game! GO STEELERS:cheer2:

I have a good friend (he was best man in my wedding) that's an editor for QED. He's worked on some of Rick Seback's shows, and edited the "Big Pittsburgh" movie before all the IMAX films at the science center.

That's cool. I hate to admit it, but I have never seen an IMAX movie here in Pittsburgh. I figure when my son gets to be school age I will spend a lot of time down there.
