Would you do a Disney Cruise with no Kids?

Love Disney cruises. I’ve been on three and all of them have just been with DH no kids. I feel like they really great at keeping the adult only areas kid free unlike some other cruise lines. The service is great and their ships are really well maintained.

I would not, but we're not really "Disney people." We love the cruise, but it's mainly for our daughter, and for me one of the big attractions is watching her react to everything. I'm not sure I'd bother with another line, there's a lot of stuff on them that seems really tacky. More likely we'd just do something different.

The only cruise I've done so far was a solo Disney cruise. I was surprised--most of the time I really didn't feel like there were a lot of kids around! That was of course a false impression (it becomes really obvious how many kids are on board when there's a big ship-wide event), but there were enough adults-only spaces and enough activities were aimed specifically at the different age groups that I found there weren't a lot of kids at the activities I was interested in attending (there's such a full slate of kids' entertainment to keep them busy elsewhere). You'll notice the kids most if you attend deck parties and if you're on a cruise with a special event like Marvel or Star Wars Day at Sea, since those tend to bring all the demographics aboard the ship together for the same entertainments. The family pool deck was usually pretty busy when I walked by it, but the Quiet Cove pool was nice and...well, quiet.

I don't have context for other cruises, so I can't say how it compares. I'm a Disney nerd, so the overall theming appeals to me. If you're someone who likes visiting the Disney parks as adults without children and you're interested in a slower, more relaxing vacation, you'll probably enjoy it.

Just got off the Disney Wonder today. There was less than 300 kids on the boat. It was a 2 week Panama Canal Cruise and the medium age had to be above 60.

I meant to say in my last post but spaced out about it--I cruised in January. You may have a different experience if you travel during summer or other common school breaks.

I love Disney and would do it in a heartbeat! I hear the Disney cruises are VERY nice. We have done RCCL, NCL, and Carnival. Personally, I also want to try Celebrity because I have never been on that cruise line before.

DD was 7 when we first went on a Disney cruise. Then we started cruising DCL every other year with onboard bookings. I was thrilled when she was 18 so we could experience Palo brunch for the first time. DD is 21 now and she was old enough to accompany me to a champagme tasting this past January on the Magic. Whenever I ask if we should try another cruise line for less money or longer cruise, she would always reply, “what’s the point of going on a cruise if it’s not Disney?” I think we are equally excited to be on a cruise and sailing with the Disney crew. We are actually more exited to see Mickey, Minnie, and Stitch, (just to name a few of our favourites) than going on a particular itinerary. I think DCL gives us what we love: Disney and cruising. We are paying a higher price for the premium. I can easily spend the whole day just lining up to hug my favourite characters.

I would definitely do a Disney cruise with no kids, but I can’t imagine what fun and excitement I would have when I get to go on a Disney cruise with my grandkids!

I've cruised as a kid, as a young adult with no kids, as a father with kids, and as a father without kids. Disney does a great job creating spaces for each of those groups; kids, family, and adults only. We have loved all of our cruises for different reasons. I will say if you are looking for vibrant adult nightlife with people dancing all night and stuff, you are going to find it less so on traditional Disney cruises (US based). This is because so many of the adults also have kids, so they aren't going to be up at 1am dancing the night away when kids need bed and they have excursions at 8am.

Honestly, at this stage in our game, no. We love Disney (AP holders, going almost every weekend this month!) ...we being my kids and I. DH could take it or leave it. He goes because we love it and have a great time. If I was to suddenly get a bee in my bonnet and want to try something else, he would be all in. So, if I was to go on an adult only cruise with my husband, it would not be Disney. When my kids are grown, I would definitely still do Disney cruises with them as adults. We love the shows and this seems to be the big difference between Disney and other cruise lines. We've only done 3, so we are not experts. DH and I did Celebrity prior to kids and enjoyed it, but like many things pre-kids, it was a different story!

I am adult and I have no kids and I have only cruised DCL. The reason for me and those that go with me is simple, we love Disney and DCL has provided many great memories and opportunities. While there are kids on the ships I personally do not had a problem as they don't bother me. We do late dining and on Castaway use the adult beach. But to cruise with or without kids I would assume that is a personal preference and only one that you can answer.

Simple answer -- absolutely. Our daughter is grown and we've done 10 Disney cruises and as adults we would most certainly do them without children.

As for booking with a TA -- the con is you don't have control of your reservation and must do everything through them; the pro is they will probably give you onboard credit for booking and maybe some other perks. Can't hurt to look into it.

DH & I were just discussing this recently. We decided that we'll try one of their shortest excursions once our kids are grown. That way we can see how we like them without investing a lot of time or money. I know it's a chunk of change, but after planning a 12 day trip to WDW & Uni. for the whole family, the cruise price for just the 2 of us sounds down right cheap in comparison. ;) :)

I would probably go with a cruise line that was cheaper with more variety in ships and itineraries if it were only adults.

Aw, this warms my heart because it’s exactly how it see it going for our family! One day we’ll be “kid free” on a Disney Cruise, but that’ll be because our kids have become adults! I keep telling them how we’ll take each of them to Palo on each of our first cruises after they turn 18. And we talk about how one day, we’ll bring them AND their own children. I do also hope to fit in a few longer cruises without the kids when we’re retired though!

A resounding YES! Disney does an excellent job of providing for adult only areas on the ship, as well as a private beach for adults only on Castaway Cay, their private island. We were a bit skeptical, but had a free offer to go with a couple other family members. Admittedly, we were pleasantly surprised and all agreed we would not hesitate to go DISNEY with all adults again.

Yes, our very first cruise on DCL was without our kids. LOL We wanted to experience DCL before them so that way we could just sit back and enjoy it through their eyes our second cruise.

We absolutely love cruising Disney without kids. We find the kids are so occupied on a Disney ship (as compared to RCL and Carnival) that we rarely run into them. On the other ships, kids seem to be more bored and are all over the ship. We actually find DCL better for adults without kids.
Other things we love is the lack of a casino, partying/clubbing, drinking/smoking. Many less drunk people and a more PG-rated environment which fits this couple just fine :)
