Wishes incident

At a time like that I'd imagine a state of shock takes over and as much as reporting her my seem like a logical first step for a third party with hindsight, I'm pretty sure getting away from the area with family safely in tow would be the instintive move. Having the offending woman talking in her own langauge to a nearby cast member probably didn't help - no doubt blaming the whole situation on 'the damn people from the UK' and making herself out to be the victim.

I've been in a situation a few years ago where I could, and maybe should, have reported someone to the police for an unprovoked attack but I just wanted to get away and try to forget about it.

Diberry - what can I say ?:rolleyes1

Steve you are right, it was a shock and son was upset, not to mention if it had become a scene DH would have become very stressed and the whole situation may have had a tragic outcome rather than just me having a sore arm.

Both of your points are reasonable, however if you read the original posts you will see that the reason this was posted was mostly because of the danger of crushing due to poor crowd controle ( non- existent more like ) We were too crammed to move an inch in any direction and not a single cast member in shouting distance spoke a word of english. I don't know what was being shouted about between her and the cast member but he was getting pretty worked up at her. I didn't get the impression that it was amicable. I would have reported it a the time if I could have moved. Maybe you could suggest how I can get a lady who has just punshed me on several occassions, who doesn't speak a word of english, to actually stand in the same place and wait while I just go and find someone to report it too in the hope that she may be arrested. Duh. Besides it was 11.15 pm not exactly an influx of cast members around at that time of night. Ahh, I know!. I should have taken her picture then I could have shown her mug shot to the police:rotfl: (Sorry just a bit of sarcasim/ welsh humour coming in there) Not intended to be taken personally by anyone;)
I did report the incident at the hotel mainly again because of the crowd controle issue and the chap at the desk took it very seriously, who in turn called the manager, she however said that Disney were allowing too many people into the park, that they can't know the mental health of the people who enter the parks, and then asked me what I would like her to do about it - her english was very poor too. We suggested that she should report the problem with the crowd controle to the higher authorities before someone gets seriously hurt. Actualy I feel that someone getting crushed to death is far more likely than this lady punching someone else - so I did my bit in the overall scheme of things.:confused3 :teeth: :rolleyes1 and I can live with that decision. You know what they say, you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time

I think you handled the situation very well Dee. I hope I could behave with the same dignity if it happened to me.:goodvibes

BTW, did you know you have just called Di Dilberry again?:scared1::eek::scared1: Quick, edit it before she reads it!!! :ssst: :rotfl2:

I quite like Dilberry, it has a real ring to it :teeth: :rotfl:

I don't think it is correct or appropriate to question the OP's motives and actions after this attack.

She was no doubt totally in shock and her main priority would have been to keep her family safe. I don't think anyone should criticise her for that! To be honest, I think what Dee did was what I would have done.

Please bear this in mind for future posts, thank you.

Oh Please - my stomach muscles are only recovering from the last time............... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think the key word here is "dignity". Kicking up a storm would have achieved nothing and quite probably made things worse.

Oh Sorry Miffy - That looks really bad I was referring to the Diberry incident! :guilty:

I am one of those people who think before they act.Maybe if more people did that the world would be a safer place.
Maybe thats a cultural thing too:cat:
In the parks loads of people would be affected by what was going on especially the children, I would always be mindful of that. Cyber space however is a different matter. Are we going to agree to differ in that we would have done different things, or do you want cyber fisty - cuffs:p ( Just needed an excuse to use that Smiley );) :love2:

I'm sorry, Dee, I didn't mean to imply that it was your fault she's a monster. I'm amazed, well, sorta more horrified, that the cast member who was arguing with her *let her go*! I mean, here's someone that's going to explode, and they just shoved her back into the throng!

You should have taken a picture of her!-although she probably would have pulled a Sean Penn on you

I guess there really wasn't anything you could have done. What a bummer, though. Especially for your kid, geez, that's what makes me angriest about that ogre.

Also just reinforces my personal fear of crowds-we usually go in January and I've been known to freak out when they're pushing me towards the door in It's Tough To Be A Bug.

I think you're right, though, that the larger issue is with crowd control, not crazy women-and I'd agree that writing to Disney about crowd issues is a good idea!

Dee, I just read about what happened to you, and you are sooo right about crowd control issues... we arrived on the 14th, and went to see the fireworks in the evening. Luckily, we moved and moved until we got to a free area (although half the fireworks were hidden by the construction site on the Constellation shop... but with a 11-month old you can't risk being in the crowd). We waited and waited before leaving, and still there was a total mess, with people pushing and no one around trying to guide the crowd...
But even worse was on Sunday evening, with cast members saying ONLY IN FRENCH to people that after the parade they should follow the parade, not going back towards the castle (we were at the very end of the parade, in front of the Bella Notte). And afterwards, people were pushing and pulling everywhere... 2 emergency guys, escorting a lady who was feeling sick, had to shove to pass... really a bad bad feeling!
I am glad we deliberately avoided going on Saturday night (again, thinking of the baby)!

And I am really sorry about that histerycal woman too... you were really great in keeping your self-control!!! I wish I was as good with the guy who told me to go to hell when he passed us in queue for the VEA, leaving us grounded :confused3
