What should they do with Pleasure Island?

last time we were at jelly rolls, we saw quite a few kids turned away at the door for being under 21, there was a LOT of young kids roaming back and forth.

I just think it's a shame disney did away with an adults venue. there was this big marketing campaign in the 90s , "disney is not just for kids"... "remember how much fun you had with the kids? come back and relive the romance" etc etc. the commercials showed adult couples, no kids, having great fun at the parks, the water parks, the clubs.

now, on THIS, a disney forum, , you have people saying, "IF you want to drink and dance, stay home". huh?

why is it when anyone talks about a LEGAL activity like enjoying legal adult beverages on vacation, people come out in GROVES, almost advocating prohibition on WDW property..cause, you know, it's "all about the children"?

there is no alcohol allowed in Magic Kingdom. fine. but there is nothing wrong with having adults only venues, or, venues aimed at adults, to satisfy the needs of the homeymoon couples, the groups of adults on vacations, the empty nesters.
I understand if some families don't want their children to be around drinking. but other families do partake in this legal activity. and see nothing wrong with it, not only legally, but morally. I have a few beers when I am with my grandchildren!:scared1:
I think it would be a total shame if pleasure island went the way of many more shops. .

I never got a chance to do the Clubs before we had kids because my husband and I were only 19 and 20 at the time of travel, we have since been lots of times with our two girls but can't go because we dont have sitters on vaca. I would love to see them bring back the adult scene. The last trip my inlaws came with us and we had time to go out alone without the kids. We hit up CityWalk, but we felt too old, mind you we are only 29, but the scene was weird, hard to put in words. Anyways we love to dance and have a good time. We just wish we could have had the chance then. So I agree with some of the responses on here. I would love to have a adult area themed with the variety so my husband and I can have a few drinks and dance the night away under the magic and romance of Disney. :woohoo: As far as more shops, Disney already is the number one merchadising company, how much more can we buy??? We spend thousands just to get there for petes sake. Throw us hard working adults a little bone!

we just enjoyed Earl of Sandwich for the first time ourselves....loved it! and we LOVE t rex! love the Christmas shop, World of Disney, the MAgic store, the magnet store, etc etc. capt. jacks, rainforest. there are PLENTY stores and restaurants. dont' need more.

I DO like the idea of a teen club. how about a karaokee club? with SEPERATE venues for tweens/teens and adults.

(and NEVER the twain shall meet?:rotfl:)

make it an area for theater and broadway style shows?
maybe even a dinner theater show
Maybe add a couple museums/

historic reenactment stuff

I love these ideas!! We've gone to disney 2 -3 times a year for the past 7 years w/ our kids, and we're always looking for a little something different to do each trip, and we don't want to venture off-site to the dinner shows, etc.

A cool fun-house type place (I know there's already one in Orlando somewhere?), definitely a dinner theater show (that the theme could change w/ the most popular movies at the time), I'd love some museums (so would my kids). Cool ideas!!

:confused3
City Walk is at Universal Orlando.

I think that Disney wants you to go to the Atlantic Dance Hall if you want a child-free dancing.

Sorry, I typed so fast that I forgot about City Walk in Orlando. But my point is still the same.

Hint to anyone that thinks a family vacation means having to spend 100% of your time with your kids: your kids want a vacation from you as much as you want a quiet evening alone with just your significant other. Have you ever considered that they might like to spend a day in a babysitter atmosphere without your annoying overbearing presence? Trust me, the best part of my vacations were when my parents would dump me somewhere for an evening where I could play with other kids and have a great time while they went off drinking and dancing...or heaven forbid, to the casino.

As for what they should do with PI, I'm with those for bringing back the AC and Comedy Club, but I guess that will never happen now....sigh.

I agree. It will resemble the DTD at Disneyland. Third-party restaurants and stores. No clubs. Nothing that will be staffed by Disney. All those performers were expensive.

Possibly some of the restaurants will feature live entertainment of some sort, like Raglan Road does.

I loved the AC. If that was so popular why did it close or why wouldn't it be revisited?

Bottom line is what would generate revenue but not trouble?
