What rides have you been stuck on or evacuated from?

A few different times...
  • Star Tours - once after all loaded but ride did not actually start. And then another time when the ride started and then jerked to a stop, movie stopped, and lights came on. Both times, we were taken back out row by row and then moved to a different vehicle.
  • Buzz Lightyear - lights come on and shooting gun no longer works. Walked off that one too.
  • Small World - stopped just about as we should exit the building. There is a walkway to the side in this area, but had a small staircase up and down right where we were. Could not be evacuated. Music did not stop. All boats around us were evacuated. Finally got moving and back to the front. Family we rode with asked about going again while we were running off so fast. I love Small World --- I just did not love it that day.
  • At WDW, the old Ellen Universe of Energy ride. Stopped just as started making the turn in the dinosaur room. Walked off car by car and section by section. I did get some great up close pics of the dinos.

I took my 8 to DLR for his bday and 30 seconds into Mr. Toad's Wild Ride it broke down! This is the 2nd time in my life I've experienced a breakdown. The first time was in 1982 on Haunted Mansion. I was 7 and my older bro and I were stuck in the hall of knocking doors for 20 min. It was the stuff of nightmares! But we eventually got going.

This time we were escorted out pretty quickly. It was kind of a bummer, but still cool to get a peak behind the curtain, so to speak.

We were evacuated on foot from TSMM and Roger Rabbit, both towards the end of the rides. Neither was very eventful. On TSMM we were after the part where you get your scores and had just ridden out of the building. On Roger Rabbit, we were in the final stretch back to the loading area, but still had to walk out a side exit. We got stuck on Peter Pan once after waiting about 45 minutes in line. They turned on all the lights and we had the misfortune to see what looked like big garbage bags stuffed with paper that look like clouds in the dark. There was also dust and trash on the ground, plus a very bored cast member standing in a corner. When the ride started, we had to ride through with the lights on and no soundtrack. We asked if we could get a pass to return and the CM said, "No because technically you got to experience the whole ride." Um, ok.

I've been evacuated off of the following rides:

Splash Mountain x3. Twice Before entering the river boat finale and once right before drop #1.

Thunder Mountain. x2 Both times I got evacuated were from lift #1.

Indiana Jones, evacuated from the gates of doom.

Pirates of the Caribbean, got stuck for a good 40mins in burning town. Got evacuated and because we missed the fireworks they gave out 1-day park hopper recovery tickets. This happened in 2005, I would not expect Disney of today to be this generous.

Incredicoaster, got evacuated from the launch.

Rise of the Resistance, got evacuated from the point you see the Stormtroopers for the first time on the ride.

Twice on space mountain but still in the loading area. I was at the safety restraint check when the ride went 101. They use a small staircase thing for you to exit the vehicle and walk back up to the load dock.

Once on midway mania, but this was at dhs. The ride vehicle has pop out stairs so they turned us to be facing a certain way and then released the safety restraint and opened the door for us to walk down the couple of steps. We then walked back along the track to the entrance.

We had several breakdowns on trip last June. On Pirates, we were stuck for maybe 15 minutes by where the ship battle happens. The sound track kept going, but my kid was very unhappy. He hasn't wanted to ride Pirates since.

The same day we got stuck on HM for 20+ minutes. The three had squeezed into one car and we were stopped in the graveyard portion with the heads continually popping up over and over. It was stressful because I had meant to mobile order lunch while we were waiting to ride but couldn't get a signal and we were all hangry. Thankfully my kid was soothed by playing a game on my phone. By the time we got off all the mobile windows were an hour + out.

And then later that same night Indy was stopped right as we loaded on the vehicle. We waited at least 10 minutes and my kid got very anxious. He asked to be let off and we left.

We also got stopped on Indy on our trip last week in pitch black darkness. Thankfully it was for only like 3 minutes. When we got off they were having the whole queue exit. This time my kid was excitedly telling the crowd we were on the ride when it broke.

WDW.....The most exciting one was from Expedition Everest.....our vehicle stopped at the top of the broken track. We sat there for about 20 minutes and then cast came to evacuate us. We walked down through the inside of the mountain.
It was DH's favorite part of the trip!!

Alice In Wonderland.....way at the end though, so just a short walk off

Autopia :car: My car broke down. I was just a kid and people were yelling because they thought I just quit driving. That was in like 1988 or so and I haven't been on it since 🤣

Yikes at the people yelling at a kid!

But, also, you're not missing anything, IMO. On my April trip, I had so much extra time in the parks that I was like, well, let's ride Autopia, since I hadn't been on it in like 17 years. Turns out there's a good reason why I hadn't. Still smells like gasoline, requires you to keep a very tired foot on the gas pedal the entire time and is basically not much fun. (I guess some people like it but that was the last time for me...)

Yikes, are the guys that have had multiple ride breakdowns and evac mostly just locals who go alot, or is this super common at DL? I haven't been to DL since I was a child in the late 60s, but have been to WDW about every 5 years since the 80s, and I've never been stuck in anything. Paused a couple of times, yes on some of the continuous moving rides when they were loading a senior or wheelchair. But even that has been rare.

In January of this year, I was evac'd from Alice and Pooh. Of course with my luck, I was in the last scene for both. Nothing behind the scenes. Sad fave.

I was surprised thar at Pooh, they have you step into a cheap 2-step stool. It was cheap enough that I nearly lost my balance.

My recent evacs (January 2022) were my first ever, and I've been going 4-8 times a year for the last 10.5 years.

DL Splash Mountain, right at the bottom of the final lift hill. DD calls it "the ride that breaks down" and she's very reluctant to get in a long line there because, well, it breaks down a lot.

Thank you for confirming that it's exactly as I remembered it!

They were yelling "GO!!" and trying to explain where the gas pedal was. And I was like 8, and trying to explain that there WAS no gas. The CM had to come rescue me. I think they ran out and filled my tank.

I also wonder if this is where my fear of running out of gas while driving comes from 🤔 :rotfl:

Once we were on RSR and it was our first time and the whole pre show was dark…no music, no talking, no voices…could see the cars and Mater but NOTHING HAPPENED! We just looked at people in car with us and said “Is this it?” They laughed and said no. Had to YouTube ride when we got back to hotel…lol, I imagine it was probably a lot like it is now!

The race part worked fine, that was fun but had to wait until next day to try it again…and the wait was sooooooo long, even back with FPs.

This past week, I just missed a chance to ride Space Mountain lights on by one car. And I was 2nd in line at Splash Mountain when they drained the ride. When I finally rode Hyperspace Mountain, the music wasn't working for part of the ride and I ended up leaving the line for Splash Mountain without compensation.

I can't remember which of the past 5 family trips it was, but my eldest daughter and I were on Goofy's when it froze for about 10 minutes. Luckily, we were at a flat part in the middle (not one of the curvy turns!) and we got passes that we used later on RSR.

Another time, we were on Space Mountain and had to climb down. I can't recall if there was a stepladder but I remember being especially careful climbing down since I was wearing a dress!
