When you stand in front of your washer and dryer, is your washer to your left or to your right? DH and are having a "little" argument over this........I told him I would ask my DISers and get back with him.

    What's your preference??

Doesn't really matter, IMO, but for the record our washer is on the right and dryer on the left. Ours are front loaders, so the big deal is making sure the doors open properly. Our dryer door opens toward the washer (pull to the right), and it's a bit annoying. Thankfully the washer door opens toward the right (away from the dryer).

My laundry room is small so they actually face each other

Our washer is on the left and our dryer is on the right. This is the way our hooks-up were installed at this house and our previous house.

Washer on the left, dryer on the right the past 5 years since we got our front loaders. That is not how we wanted them. But the installer pointed out that front load washers, at least our LG, have the door on the WASHER hinged on the left side, and the door on the DRYER hinged on the right side and they are designed to be placed this way so you can move the washing to the dryer without having the door in the way.

Our dryer vent is on the left side, so I had to get a longer vent tube when we put the dryer on the right side.

Washer on the left, dryer on the right. Laundry closet and that's how the hookups are.

Left, the dryer is closer to the outside wall to vent

Washer on right, dryer on left. That's the way the hookups were when we bought the house, and didn't want to change anything.

The shortest distance to the water/drain or vent. Our laundry area has dryer to left and washer to right.

Washer left, dryer right. Ours is fixed by how the water/drain hookups, natural gas line, and dryer vent are positioned.

The only problem we have is that the cord for the dryer is a little bit short and there's no outlet. Since it's a gas dryer, it only needs 120V AC for the motor. We thought about getting an electric, but then we would have needed to install a 220V outlet.

I've seen a few stacked options. One was in a friend's condo, but the washer was top load and it was designed that way.

A lot of the front-load systems can be stacked. I don't know how they're bolted to the ground though, since it seems like a problem in an earthquake or if someone knocks it over.

Washer right, dryer left. Not sure why it's that way, it just is.:)

Washer on left, dryer on right in main house, washer on right and dryer on left in in-law suite....no rhyme or reasoning between the two.

Stacked, washer on the bottom. It's the only thing that will fit in the tiny laundry room (a recent add-on at the back of the 200 year old house we rent.
