So many ride closures!!!

Anyone else in the parks the last couple days?? There seem to be soooo many ride closures! We started at CA yesterday and RSR, Gaurdians, WS, Ariel, and TSM were all closed at rope drop or sometime within the first hour. We’ve been in line 2x when Indy went down. This morning Rise was down until after 10 and Indy was down as well as Big Thunder. In line for Space now and it went down but just came back. I’ve never seen rides break down this much! Seriously what gives?!?!

Is it possible that particularly the ones not up at rope drop could be a staffing issue - not enough CMs trained on that attraction scheduled to open due to illness/quarantine?

Later in the day it would likely be mechanical, but first thing I'd think there could be a staffing issue. CMs trained to operate one ride cannot just be shifted to another with no training.

I came home yesterday after three days in the parks. Overall I wasn't expecting much.
I was surprised at the number Ride break downs. I was in line for Big Thunder Tuesday when it went down. Break-downs were all over the place. At least at DL I can find other things to do to fill the time.

Wednesday morning my reservation was for DCA.
WHAT A MESS! Seems like there were more rides closed than open. Which made those open to have huge lines. What I learned from this, was to NEVER start my day at DCA.
When there are so many rides down there is not much else to do. And with hopping not allowed until 1pm it was a horrible morning. What a waste of time!

I experienced the break-downs of ROTR on Monday.... Mid-day's break-down I chose to stay in the line. But Disney later decided to evacuate and close the line but gave LL passes for later. Which I did use around 6:30pm that evening. Only to have the ride totally go down while in the second room I think it's the transporter room. We waited about 10 min for the CM's to come and escort everyone out... Except me, I was on a scooter and there is about a 8-10inch flooring difference. I had to wait about another 30 to 40 minutes for the firefighters to come and place a ramp for the scooter. In the end all was fine when I rode on Tuesday.

I have been going to Disney since day one in 1955.
I will skip getting my Magic Key and hold off on any trips in the near future.

When I hear there have been favorable changes then I'll see about booking a return trip and getting a Magic Key.

For now I will be spending my $Disney Bucks$ other ways.

We were in the parks on Sunday, the 30th, a whole lot of closures, some rides down multiple times during the day.

We had two close while we were in line also, IJA and HM. Fortunately, we got on both later in the day.

Then my conspiracy theory tingle starts, thinking these breakdowns are planned events to make other standby lines full and entice more Genie+ sales. I do hope it’s just wear and tear on the equipment.

As the rides get older, Disney needs to do more maintenance but I feel like they haven't kept up. They are also keeping the bare minimum CMs in the park which means if someone is late for work, out sick, etc. there may not be enough CMs for rides.

I had a few mornings of many rides down last month and will be very annoyed if I can't get on Web Slingers at rope drop next week.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad trip experiences. I decided to start both of our upcoming trip days at Disneyland and I'm glad I did after reading your post.

I had expected the change in Disney.
That is why I booked a three day hopper ticket.
In those 3days I really enjoyed myself.

It wasn't the Disney I have been use too but I was ready for that.

I will go again some day but not as an AP holder. And it won't be too soon.
I will wait and see what happens over the next year or so.

Disney goer's need to go into the trip with FLEXIBILITY!! in order to have a fun time.

From what I saw the new rides went down as much as the older rides. I don't feel it is a lack of routine maintenance on Disney's part. But when the parks are as crowded as they are, when a ride goes down it does make a difference in other line times.

I made my park reservation on Wed for DCA with the intent of being at the front of the line for WebSlingers. I read the thread about position at rope drop for best position but it didn't make a difference. The MOB for WebSlingers was massive. By the time the CM's had escorted the MOB over to the ride, when I looked on the app it had already posted a 60 minute wait time. And I was no where near the front...

Since I had rode WS the afternoon before I decided to bail and go ride GOG a couple of times. GoG was less than 10min.

Good luck with a favorable place in line for WS at rope drop on your next visit!!

What's Webslingers like at dinnertime - around 6pm? Our flight arrives in the afternoon, and we'll have a few hours in DCA on our first day, and want the full Marvel Campus experience (haven't been since it opened).

I bought G+ for all 4 days of our Hopper, (even though it's unlikely we'll get to use it on our first day), so we can come back to ride WS & GotG any 3 days after that... but we'll be eager to get er in! Lol

I have no idea what it's like around 6pm. I didn't pay attention to time of day while in the parks. If I wanted to do a ride I did. I watched the app for line times to decide which way to go.

I did WS the first time during the day. The posted line time was 60 minutes when I got in line. The line moved FAST. To my surprise it only took about 35 minutes to get to the start of the ride. I had heard about Disney inflating line times....

With the longer line times I took advantage of eating in line. Something I usually do not do.

With 4 days you will be fine. Be prepared to go with the flow.....

It's a different vibe in the parks. The CM's are fine, had very nice interactions with many of them. However, visitors to the parks are acting so entitled and rude.

Thanks! We'll be very flexible with our time there, so we'll definitely go with the flow!

I've always found theme park crowds to be rather entitled and rude... it goes with the territory when you pay massive amounts of cash for entertainment, and when you're tired, hot and hungry. I guess these days with everything going on, it's likely far more noticeable...lol!

The average wait for WS tends to be anywhere from 60-90 minutes. As a rule, DCA gets busier in the afternoons/evenings, most likely due to the new park hopping 1pm rule.

Last night at 6pm, WS had a 75 min wait.

This is definitely my outlook going into our upcoming trip, so it seems I'm in the right state of mind, at least.

Why I think Disneyland is having so many ride closures lately is because I think it's a example of how the park is going downhill like if you have noticed most of the rides that get closed are the rides like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad because they always have problems and the same thing with Indiana Jones Adventure and the Alice In Wonderland ride. What I think Disneyland should do is have signs with this message "SORRY DUE TO PROBLEMS THIS RIDE IS CLOSED AND WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW. GUESTS WITH GENIE+ WILL BE GIVEN FOOD VOUCHERS OR GIFT CARDS AS CONSOLATION. WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE" and it would work miracles for people who want to ride certain rides when they learn they can't

That is helpful information. I'm going for 3 full days at the end of April. I'm getting park hopper and Genie Plus. My first thought was to alternate reservations (DL, DCA, DL), but after reading your post, I'm considering just rope dropping Disneyland every day and hopping after 1pm. There are so many more things to rope drop at Disneyland. I know what happened to you is probably not an every day thing, but you've definitely given me something to think about.

If only they'd had, say, a year-plus without guests, where they could send small teams out to really deep-clean, fix, replace, and upgrade stuff ... (I know, I know, I've Gotten Into It™️ about this issue here before, I KNOW, but still. grrrrrrrrr.)

I do think, at this point, it's probably much more about staffing. Maybe as Omicron wanes, this problem will too? (ever hopeful, me)
