Savor the Savannah Evening Safari

Two hours when we did it a few days ago. Time flew! :)
I'm trying to remember how they divided up the time. Can you?
Was it about an hour for the drive on the safari and Q&A with the handler and then hour to eat and explore and observe on the Boma? That's what it seems like it was but it was a year ago so I may be off on my memory

Interested in any recent experiences with this tour. Thinking of booking it in May. Is the animal viewing better than the AK park safari? How is the included meal? -assorted African tapas?

I went last July, solo, and really enjoyed it. My detailed review is posted here.

How many drinks do you really get for the Savor Savanna? I've been looking to do WAT because more adventure and fun, and can always get drinks afterwards at different places.

I had three glasses of wine (one with the bread and nuts, one with the tapas, and one with dessert) when I went. I also had time for a glass or two of water.

This sounds so fun! I've actually never read about this. DD just turned 8 so we were planning on Wild Africa Trek during our big summer trip next year, but this may be more our speed.

I believe that about 50/50 IS the plan. In our case...
  • It was raining when the tour started, and the Safari portion was slightly shortened
  • We saw the animal specialist partway through the safari portion, then she had to go clear the safari route (some ankole cattle chose to block the path and she had to move them!)
  • Since we had SO MANY questions and were the only party on the tour that day, the animal specialist came back to the boma to join us and answer more questions
All this to say that I think the plan is 50/50, Safari/boma, and they adjust on the fly as great guides would. :)

Thanks for all the comments! I was planning to book the later tour, but I really appreciate your experiences and will go for the 5pm one (sunset time is around 6:30 pm at the time of our visit.)
